The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: December 28-30

The land of Middle-Earth reigns supreme for another week with Tarantino’s bounty hunter western not far behind.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey topped the box office once again over the holiday weekend, marking it’s third week in the top slot. Django Unchained nearly beat it out, however, with a surprising popularity among more demographics than anticipated. The slave turned bounty hunter movie scored well among women, which is not usually the case for movies of the western or action genre.

Musicals had a victory this weekend with Les Miserables, a movie based on a play that has Wolverine and Catwoman …

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: November 9-11

I do not think it is a surprise to anyone that the new James Bond movie topped the charts this weekend. It has been met with stellar reviews and everyone everywhere wants to see more spy action from the iconic hero. Skyfall managed to displace the fantastic animated movie Wreck-It Ralph, which still made a ton of money and held on to a number two slot. You can see the full top ten list and how much the movies made after the jump.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: October 26-28

Ben Affleck climbs the box office to the number one spot with Argo even though no one went to the movies. It was a slow weekend at the box office, even for horror movies (I guess everyone was too busy partying or watching sports). The massively hyped Cloud Atlas only reached the number three spot for the weekend, which does not bode well for the future of the Wachowski brothers’ future film endeavors. Other new releases also underperformed, especially Chasing Mavericks, which did not make the top ten. Who would have guessed no one outside of the west coast …

Paranormal-Activity-4-Trailer

BOX OFFICE RESULTS: October 19-21

Paranormal Activity 4 scares up the most money for the weekend, despite low overall theater attendance. The fourth movie in the “there’s a ghost in this house let’s set up cameras and see what it is up to” franchise may not have made as much as its predecessors, but with a five million dollar budget it has definitely made a lot of profit. The other new release Tyler Perry’s Madea Hunts A Murderer (just kidding, it is called Alex Cross) barely hung on to the number five spot on the weekend top ten list. You can see that full …

BOX OFFICE RESULTS: September 28-30

The last weekend of September saw good box office numbers, and even a record breaker. Hotel Transylvania took the top slot at the box office and broke the record for a September opening. The time travel thriller Looper took the second place spot, but it was not even close to making the kinds of money Hotel Transylvania made. My conclusion? People are excited for Halloween. You can see the full top ten list and how much the films made after the jump.

MUSIC VIDEO: MellowHype – “La Bonita”

MellowHype (Hodgy Beats and Left Brain) are almost ready to unleash their forthcoming effort, Numbers, to the masses and we have the visuals for the duo’s latest video “La Bonita” here. In typical Odd Future fashion, the two create an eerie atmosphere with ladies painted up in black and white.

Numbers has an official drop date of October 2 so be sure to watch out for that.

Check out MellowHype’s creepy visuals for the song “La Bonita” right here on Under The Gun Review and tell us what you thought.

STUDIO UPDATE: Woe, Is Me

Everyone’s favorite dysfunctional metalcore family, Woe Is Me (often stylized Woe, Is Me but for grammar’s sake, no comma will be used henceforth) have released their first studio update. The Rise Records sextet are hard (?) at work on their sophomore album, their first with new singers Doriano Magliano (screamer and formally of That’s Outrageous!) and Hance Alligood (clean vocals). Check out the studio update after the jump.

Woe Is Me has had nothing short of a tumultuous three-year existences. So many band members have been replaced over the years that those who graduated WIM University could very …

UTG PHOTOS: No Guts No Glory Tour (12/7/11)

Under The Gun recently sent Staff Photographer Kellie Gannon to cover the No Guts No Glory Tour stop in Cleveland!

December is always a hectic month.  Between family time, getting ready for the impending holidays, and the end of the semester (if you’re still in school), this is always a crazy, busy, final month of the year.  Two weeks ago, on December 7th, the No Guts No Glory Tour graced Peabody’s in Cleveland, OH & I’m still reminiscing on what may have been one of the most energetic tours to wrap up the year.  The Amity Affliction, Letlive, …
