REVIEW: Daisyhead – ‘The Smallest Light’

Artist: Daisyhead
Album: The Smallest Light
Genre: Post-Hardcore, Emo
Label: No Sleep Records

If the recent vinyl revival has done nothing else, we can say it has changed the way record labels present and introduce their newest artists. A debut LP used to be a new artist’s opening statement, but for Daisyhead and plenty of other bands on vinyl-focused labels like No Sleep Records, that’s no longer the case. By the time they first make their way into our consciousness through splits, 7″ singles, EPs and free digital samplers, their first full-length release feels more like a culmination than a …

Over the course of the past year or so, Daisyhead have cemented themselves on our radar here at UTG. Their most recent effort, The Smallest Light, is shaping up to be a huge step forward for the Nashville quartet, if the singles released so far are any indication to go by. Following “Take

Daisyhead Debut New Song, “Lost Her”

Up-and-coming rockers Daisyhead are set to release their highly anticipated No Sleep Records debut The Smallest Light on March 3, and after sharing lead single “Take,” UTG could not be more hyped for the release of this album.

To hold us over, the band teamed up with AbsolutePunk to release a brand new song called “Lost Her.” Comparable to the grunginess of bands like Basement and Superheaven, this song also gives us a softer side of Daisyhead, reminiscent of Jimmy Eat World (as shown in their “Work” cover).

You can stream the song below after the …

Rocky Votolato Shares “The Hereafter”

Just a short time after announcing his decision to sign with No Sleep Records, Rocky Votolato has released the first single off his highly-anticipated new album.

Premiering on Stereogum earlier today, “The Hereafter” is a song that could only be written by someone whose led a truly interesting life. It oozes with a lifetime’s worth of experience having been boiled down to a four-minute song in the best possible way, with images of broken teeth, scraped hands, and weary eyes littered throughout. If Rocky were to try and encapsulate his career with a single song, this would no doubt be …
