I am just a copy of a copy of a.”

What is Trent Reznor trying to sing about? Is he talking about pop music in general? Is he talking about the evolution of sound or film or media in general? Or is he talking about Nine Inch Nails?

Everything I say has come before assembled into something
I am never certain anymore
I am just a shadow of a shadow of a shadow.

You could call the music unintelligent …

ALBUM STREAM: Nine Inch Nails – ‘Hesitation Marks’

Nine Inch Nails have been giving out tracks off their upcoming release left and right, and now Trent Reznor’s main band has put the whole album for streaming on iTunes. The release, out this Tuesday, September 3, will mark the band’s first since the brief hiatus that many thought was the end of NiN as we know it. They are also on tour with Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed You! Black Emperor this fall.

You can expect UTG’s review of the album to come out later this week. Until then, check out the stream by clicking here.

STREAM: Nine Inch Nails – “The Eater Of Dreams”

Say what you want about Trent Reznor’s time away from Nine Inch Nails, the dude had already perfected making eerie creepy rock music. The latest song to hit the web from their upcoming album, Hesitation Marks, is certainly not a single, but instead is an ambient album opening track, titled “The Eater Of Dreams.” The less-than-a-minute-long song premiered with a preview of the album’s artwork and packaging, which sounds a whole lot darker with the song playing.

I’m not going to lie, though; I’ve thought the singles so far were fairly weak and this little ambient track has …

Aaron Gillespie (The Almost, ex-Underoath) To Play Drums For Paramore

Earlier today, a Paramore fan’s Twitter account spilled the beans on who would play drums for them on their fall tour. The drummer is  former drummer for Underoath and current guitarist/vocalist for The Almost, Aaron Gillespie; the tweet saying such was confirmed by Gillespie. This may come as a surprise to some, as The Almost had only recently released their last album and one would’ve assumed they’d try to tour throughout the remainder of the year, but I guess we can perhaps start considering Gillespie a scene Dave Grohl. Love or hate his music, he’s got a pretty badass …

Adrian Belew Leaves Nine Inch Nails

Nine Inch Nails have revealed a flurry of announcements in the last week or so regarding their brand new album, and some new music they’ve already released from it. Today, however, we have some different news as guitarist Adrian Belew announced that he is leaving the band. This is coming only weeks after their bassist, Eric Avery, left the group due to stress over touring, and to pursue other musical endeavors.

While Eric had a rather lengthy statement on him leaving, Adrian had a little bit of a different approach and only has 14 words to say. You can read …

Nine Inch Nails Announce US Stadium Tour With Explosions In The Sky & Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Talk about going from dormant to the center of attention. In the matter of a week, we’ve gone from not knowing when new Nine Inch Nails would come, to knowing the name of the lead single and it dropping early, to getting a firm release date of the new album (September 3), to the present, where we now know the details of Nine Inch Nails’ stadium tour, according to Pitchfork. The opener? Either Explosions in the Sky or Godspeed You! Black Emperor depending on the date. Maybe Trent Reznor went on a post rock phase in the past …

STREAM/DOWNLOAD: Nine Inch Nails – “Came Back Haunted”

It seems nothing is safe from an early release in this day and age. Seattle radio station 107.7 The End decided to premier the new Nine Inch Nails track, “Came Back Haunted,” ahead of its planned KROQ debut, and someone has already stripped it and put it up online. The sound is very much in line with NiN’s previous major label work, which as I said not long ago is expected, though it has some newer synth work on it. It almost sounds like a return to Nine Inch Nails’ With Teeth style with some added influence from How To …

New Nine Inch Nails Album ‘Hesitation Marks’ Out September 3

We found out not long ago that Nine Inch Nails had a new single, “Came Back Haunted,” coming out tomorrow at 2:30 Eastern. Today, the band tweeted a simple album announcement:

It seems Hesitation Marks will be the group’s first album since 2008’s The Slip; we expect it to be more in lieu with their major label releases given that it is a major label release. We should also tell those who don’t know, “halo” is NiN’s way of numbering their opuses. Given Columbia’s …

Nine Inch Nails Are Confirmed To Debut “Came Back Haunted” On Thursday

Earlier today, we had heard wary reports of Nine Inch Nails releasing a new single on Thursday. They’ve now been confirmed with a name, time, and place. The song, “Came Back Haunted,” will be played on Los Angeles’ alternative station KROQ at 11:30 AM Pacific (so 2:30 PM Eastern). You can rest assured knowing that we’ll have it posted Thursday ASAP. Supposedly, the song isin line with the first two [NiN] albums.

Perhaps this is a hint of how suddenly Trent will release the new NiN album? It’s supposedly finished and to be released later this …

RUMOR: New Nine Inch Nails Single To Debut Thursday

I mostly ignored the hubbub surrounding Nine Inch Nails signing with Columbia Records earlier this year. We knew last year that Trent Reznor’s other group, How To Destroy Angels, was working with Columbia, and last year we knew that a greatest hits collection and a new album from Nine Inch Nails were in the works at some point.

But it seems things have been a lot further along than we expected. Los Angeles radio station X1075 is reporting a new Nine Inch Nails single will be on the radio Thursday, according to Fact Mag. If this holds …
