I know not everyone who reads this post was able to attend Riot Fest Denver, but had you been there you would know In The Whale opened their set with the killer cut you’re about to hear. Before the song was halfway over you could see people running …

Melody's Echo Chamber

Melody’s Echo Chamber Shares New Single “Shirim”

America always seems a little late to the get-go for artists that aren’t in our neighborhood. One musician who, for the most part, slipped through the cracks in the US is French musician Melody’s Echo Chamber. The Paris-based multi-instrumentalist Melody Prochet mixes colorful psychedelia with melodic chamber pop. The outcome? A whole lot of smoky, dream-filled songs that don’t waste time filling your heart.

Written, produced, and released by Prochet, “Shirim” makes it hard to argue against Melody’s Echo Chamber being anything but talented. The song employs jangly chords, simple drums, and a spacey solo that gravitates in and …

Their newest record, IX, drops October 20 (pre-orders ongoing here). To celebrate the upcoming release, they’re streaming single “A Million Random Digits” now on Line of Best Fit.

The song is a quick three minutes with primal drums making way for dark guitar riffs. If they’re saying anything, it’s that they’re coming back with teeth growling, per usual. According to the band, the track title comes from a stolen …

Badbadnotgood

BadBadNotGood Release New Single “Velvet”

Canadian hip-hop-infused jazz trio Badbadnotgood released their third LP, III, earlier this year, and now they’re back with a new single titled “Velvet.” Last we heard from them, they were playing alongside Ghostface Killah and Danny Brown on “Six Degrees,” but this sees a quieter side of the group.

If your day is off to a rough start, relax. “Velvet” sees the three sprucing things up with delicate piano solos and steady jazz drumming that’s quick to mellow you out. There’s a little saxophone partway through that gets rowdy, but other than that it’s a smooth trip …

Charli-XCX-Sucker

Listen to Charli XCX’s New Song “London Queen”

If British singer, songwriter, and all around badass Charli XCX moving her new album’s release date back to December 16 has you down (or even later for you UK folks), fear no more. The highly-anticipated sophomore album, Suckernow has a new single for fans to play on repeat until the holidays: “London Queen.”

The single rides on a punk bass line and peppy rhythm, teasing relations to the Ramones with several shouts of “oy” while she sings about her move to LA from the UK. There’s a huge fist-pumping chorus and endless rebellious angst, but its roots are …

Joey Badass

Hear Two New Joey Bada$$ Singles “Get Paid” and “Christ Conscious”

Hip hop is getting some sharp songs today. Brooklyn MC Joey Bada$$ is on the brink of dropping his debut LP, B4.DA.$$, that’s already given us a peak of his upcoming official sound with “Big Dusty.” Now we’re getting a look farther into the record with outtake “Get Paid” and lead single “Christ Conscious.”

The raucous “Get Paid” sees Joey Bada$$ laying down the law and nailing his usual lines. The fact that this got cut from the record sets the bar pretty high for what will stay in the tracklist. Now that “Christ Conscious” is in our …

Azealia Banks 2012

Azealia Banks Shares New Song “Chasing Time”

Last we heard from Harlem rapper Azealia Banks, she had dropped a music video for her new single “Heavy Metal and Reflective.” Now the buzz girl has shared a new song called “Chasing Time” and we may not be able to listen to anything else all day.

“Chasing Time” sees Banks laying down a dreamy swirl of smooth production and quick, rounded raps. It seems ever since she cut herself from Interscope, Banks is shaping her extremely delayed album, Broke With Expensive Taste, exactly how she wants to. If she wanted to prove she’s more than …

Kendrick-Lamar-I

Required Listening: Kendrick Lamar – “I”

There is an entire generation walking the planet today who may have very well lived their entire lives without knowing of or listening to the work of The Isley Brothers. Thanks to Kendrick Lamar however, that is about to change.

This morning, Kendrick Lamar broke his long-standing radio silence with the release of a new song titled “I.” The track, which samples the Isley Brothers’ “That Lady,” is the first track to surface from the Compton raised artist since the release of his debut album nearly two years back. You can stream the song, in full, at the end of …

Flying Lotus You're Dead!

Flying Lotus Shares New Song “Coronus, The Terminator”

Producer, electronic musician, and general genius Flying Lotus drops his highly-anticipated new album, You’re Dead!, via Warp Records on October 7. It’s a massive 19-track release that is following up 2012′s brilliant Until The Quiet Comes with a more jazz-oriented setup and guest star studded flair. In anticipation of the release, he’s shared single “Coronus, The Terminator.”

Unlike the rhythmic flurry of “Moment of Hesitation” and the edgy point of Kendrick Lamar collab “Never Catch Me,” this song strolls down the psychedelic route with a leisurely yawn. Things begin to get dark at one point, …
