Tool Working On First Album Since 2006

The notorious Los Angeles progressive metal band Tool confirmed yesterday that they will soon be getting back to work writing and arranging songs for the band’s upcoming record.

The band has just returned from Japan, where they played Ozzfest 2013, a two-day metal festival. Day one included the likes of headliner Slipknot, Slash (of Guns N’ Roses), Deftones, and more local Japanese bands. Day two of the festival included none other than the legendary Black Sabbath, Tool, Stone Sour (Corey Taylor had a busy two days), Dir En Grey, Steel Panther, and more locals. All of this and more, …

Taking Back Sunday To Start Writing Again In “Secret Mountain House”

Hey, seclusion worked for Bon Iver.

Absolute Punk reports that Taking Back Sunday are riding off to an undisclosed location to start writing some new material.

The band tweeted yesterday that they were en route to a “secret mountain house” to work on their music.

Like, that could mean anything from a desolate (possibly haunted) wooded shack to a low profile ski chalet. Based off the Instagram program in the tweet, it appears that the band is near, …

Patrick Stump Squashes FOB Rumor

Between this and the hiatus of Scissor Sisters, today is off to a rough start.

Yesterday, the blogosphere went nuts over Keltie Colleen letting the cat out of the bag that she knew “FOB were working on new songs.” Now, Patrick Stump has squashed that rumor. He took to his Twitter to say that “One of these days there may actually be news and you won’t be able to hear it over all the rumors.” He went on to call Keltie “awesome“; Keltie hasn’t yet commented on who her source(s) were or Stump’s …

RUMOR: Fall Out Boy Are Working On New Material

You know what is worse than a rumor? People ruining surprises. I don’t know if Ms. Keltie Colleen is guilty of the first or the second, but either way, prepare to learn why she is quasi-important on the blogosphere today.

When not spending her time working for The Insider, Keltie Colleen has become somewhat of a blogger figure in the alternative music scene. She’s interviewed many of the artists we feature on UTG, and today she guaranteed a few more followers for herself by tweeting the following:

Today I am basking in the glow of knowledge that FOB are working

The Tower And The Fool Apologize For Social Silence, Announce Show, And Mention New Material

Earlier this year, Run For Cover Records won over the hearts of everyone in the alternative scene with the release of The Tower And The Fool’s debut album, How Long. The indie/folk project supported the album pretty heavily in the Spring, but then fell almost completely silent in the middle of Summer. They had a show scheduled for September 8, but that performance was cancelled in the days before the event, which lead some to write us asking if anything had happened. We asked RFC, who informed us everything was fine, and today we finally have proof. Taking to …

MOD SUN Teases Collaborative Effort With Jonny Craig

Hippie-hop guru MOD SUN has caused a ruckus online this morning following a tweet mentioning the one vocalist everyone seems to have an opinion on.

Around 4AM EST this morning, MOD SUN tweeted:

Than the return of @jonnycraig4L x @MODSUN project in late may???? Yall ready?

Craig and MOD SUN have a history of working together, both on the road (“White Boys Of Soul” tour) and off (Craig supplied additional vocals on Mod’s “Become My Life”), but like the rest of Jonny’s project, their progress has been on hold while Craig got his shit together. Craig himself mentioned …

It Looks Like THE DISTILLERS Are Up To Something…

It has been a few years since The Distillers put out new music or toured, but some recently activity on the band’s social networks has many hoping that will soon change.

Some readers may not know this, but The Distillers have been actively maintaining a Twitter account for quite some time. For the most part, this account does nothing more than reply to Distillers fans caught in the memory of the past, but recently the activity has increased. Not only has the account referenced the possibility of new shows in the future, but last night that account also tweeted …
