System Of A Down Bassist Blames Frontman Serj Tankian For Lack Of New Music

System Of A Down have not released a new album since 2005. In the time that has passed since that time UTG was born, over a dozen writers for the site graduated college, and the face of mainstream rock has completely changed at least three times over. Still, even with all that has happened, fans of SOAD continue to ask the band for new material and until now they have received almost nothing in the form of a response.

Taking to Facebook recently, System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian blamed the lack of new music on frontman Serj Tankian …

REVIEW: Have Mercy – The Earth Pushed Back

Band: Have Mercy
Album: The Earth Pushed Back
Genre: Alternative
Label: Topshelf Records

There haven’t been a ton of records I’ve been really excited about this year thus far. I’ve given some high marks in terms of “scoring,” and I think that is partially because there has been a lot of pretty mediocre records coming out of the scene these days, and I’ve lost sight of what truly great really means. Though it may seem strange to admit, some albums I’ve given high marks to earlier in the year may have deserved lower scores in hindsight. Why, you ask? Well, …

STREAM: Smith Westerns – “3am Spiritual”

Chicago rockers, Smith Westerns, dropped their second track entitled, “3am Spiritual,” from their new upcoming album, Soft Will.

The new track is a little more ambitious than the poppier-carefree track, “Varsity,” which was debuted a few months ago. At around marker 3:05, the track breaks into a staccato bridge, which is followed by an emotional guitar solo. The arrangement is reminiscent of something you’d hear legendary bands such as Queen or The Beatles do. Bold words, but from what we’ve heard from the new album so far, I’m sure we’re in store for something special.

The new album …

Former Hey Monday vocalist and contestant on The Voice, Cassadee Pope has released her new single, “Wasting All These Tears.”

“Wasting All These Tears” was taken from the singer’s forthcoming album due this fall via Republic Nashville. It will be released digitally on June 4.

Arsonists Get All The Girls to Release New Album, ‘Listen to the Color’

Arsonists Get All The Girls are one of my all-time favorite bands. I’ll never forget the first time I heard “Scobra vs. Cupcake: Battle of the Bulge” and completely lost my shit. At the time, I had never heard anything quite like it or the entirety of Hits From The Bow. This is one of the main reasons I’m incredibly excited to find that AGATG will be releasing a new album, entitled Listen To The Color, because according to the press release, they claim to be “resurrecting their thrashy quirky roots.”

AGATG have had endless roster changes and …
