That ‘Free’ Miley Cyrus Album May Not Be What You Expect

Miley Cyrus has yet to officially announce her fifth studio album, but already the pop star has found herself at the center of yet another media frenzy.

Cyrus has been planning for some time to release her new studio album for free. According to manager Adam Leber, the pop diva was even willing to buy out her record deal to make it happen. “If RCA wasn’t down the gratis plan, she was prepared to buy herself out of the label,” he told Marie Claire. Such a move should be grounds for a history making event. Never before has a …

Lana Del Rey Keeps It Simple On “Terrence Loves You”

Bow down, everyone. The queen is back with more good music for her people to enjoy.

Heartache is one of the cornerstones of Lana Del Rey‘s music. Just like men who believe themselves to be rebellious bad-asses and the unshakable itch to smoke weed by the sea, heartache is one of the things that makes the music of Lana Del Rey pop, and her latest single reminds us just how good feeling low can sound.

“Terrence Loves You” is a track about the end of a romance that the storyteller, Lana, still clings to with all her might. …

The Dear Hunter Impress With New Song, “Waves”

Oh, Casey Crescenzo. I know I am engaged to be married in under a year’s time, but if I could run away with the music he creates with The Dear Hunter I would leave my gal at the alter without a second thought. I think she would understand, but even if she didn’t – oh well.

To be serious for a moment, The Dear Hunter have shared another song off their highly-anticipated new album, Act IV: Rebirth In Reprise. The track, titled “Waves,” had its world premiere on Billboard earlier today. You can stream the song at the end …

Earlier this year, pop-punk frontrunners The Wonder Years celebrated their tenth anniversary as a band with three discography shows in their hometown of Philadelphia. It now seems as though there are more big things in store for them in 2015.

This morning, the band has announced that they will be putting out a brand new album, entitled No Closer to Heaven – their fourth full-length record and second Hopeless Records effort – on September 4. The Dear Hunter’s New Song Proves They’re Still The Best

It’s June, which means anyone with even the slightest hint of interest in entertainment has been compiling and sharing their ‘best of 2015 so far’ lists. We haven’t released any yet, but if you think we haven’t talked about doing so you would be a damn fool. They’re coming, or at least should, at some point in the near future.

I thought I knew my picks for the best musical offerings this year. In fact, I wrote them all down just last week in order to begin brainstorming a creative way to share them here on UTG. That was before …

UTG PREMIERE: Treason This – “Moviegoers Dilemma”

If there is one genre of alternative music with fiercer competition right now than pop punk I have yet to discover it. Still, as countless groups come and go with songs not good enough to hold our attention, a few young groups are breaking through the noise with catchy tracks too good to deny.

Milwaukee quartet Treason This hail from a place almost no one considers a music hub, at least for the pop punk scene. Regardless, this promising young act have the songwriting chops and music talent needed to be something great, and today we’re thrilled to present the …

Parkway-Drive-2015

Parkway Drive Is (Still) The Best Heavy Band In Music Today

Anytime Parkway Drive decide to treat the world to new music is cause for celebration as far as we are concerned, and their latest single is no exception.

Released this morning, June 9, “Vice Grip” reintroduces the world to Parkway Drive’s unique take on hard rock with huge riffs and an even larger hook. It’s the most straightforward rock song the band has ever shared, so much that it feels destined for radio play but it’s undeniably born from the same minds and influences that birthed the group’s heaviest material. Think of it as post-modern hard rock with a metal …
