LykkeLi

Stream Lykke Li’s New Single, “Gunshot”

Indie songstress Lykke Li has released her third single, “Gunshot,” off her upcoming third studio album today. The single takes more of a sodden pop route, tracing heartbroken lyrics out in a pretty produced, anthemic piece of sweeping vocals and sturdy guitar work. All in all, it sounds in line with her other work while ditching some of the old hooks.

The album, titled I Never Learn, is slated to come out May 5 via LL/Atlantic Records. So far we’ve also heard “Love Me Like I’m Not Made of Stone” and “No Rest For The Wicked

The Amity Affliction Announce New Album & Premiere “Pittsburgh”

The Amity Affliction have been teasing for weeks that they would be releasing a brand new single soon. That day has finally come, and we now have the music video for “Pittsburgh” in our hands. The song is the lead single off their forthcoming album, titled Let The Ocean Take Me. The music video and tracklist for the album are available below the jump.

The lyricism of this band has to be some of my favorite in the music scene right now. Their verses are so well written and so raw; it’s easy for anyone to make a connection …

Thee Oh Sees Drop

Stream Thee Oh Sees’ New Album ‘Drop’ In Full

After a 16-year run, San Francisco garage rock staples Thee Oh Sees announced, pretty much out of nowhere, that they would be going on a hiatus.

At this point, it’s pretty clear frontman John Dwyer‘s words about not playing a show for a “long while” were loose. He announced his own new band, Damaged Bug, shared some tunes, and now, a few months later, Thee Oh Sees are back with another new album.

The record, titled Dropfollows up their 2013 release Floating Coffin. It comes out on April 19 (aka Record Store Day) via Dwyer’s …

The Color Morale

The Color Morale Sign To Fearless Records And Announce New Album

It’s not very often that we see a band secretly hop from one label to another, and yet here we are today with the news that The Color Morale have signed to Fearless Records. There is zero word about Rise Records and whether the group’s contract has ended with them or not, but considering both are major labels based in the US, it’s hard to imagine the band will be sticking with both. You can check out the official announcement video for yourself below the jump.

Included in the signing announcement, the band confirmed they are currently working on their …

Little Dragon Paris

Stream Little Dragon’s New Single, “Paris”

In a little over a month, Little Dragon will be putting out Nabuma Rubberband, their first album in three years. The follow-up to 2011′s nearly perfect Ritual Union is shaping up to be quite a release, as heard by lead single “Klapp Klapp” and now “Paris.”

BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe put up a radio play of the song for fans to stream, and it gives us a peek at the groovy, electro-soul “Paris.” Frontwoman Yukimi Nagano will no doubt rock the song live with some great moves that it inevitably inspires. We’ll have to …

REVIEW: The Menzingers – ‘Rented World’

Artist: The Menzingers
Album: Rented World
Label: Epitaph Records
Genre: Punk / Rock

In 2010 I moved out of my home state of Pennsylvania in search of a college education in DC. It’s now four years later, and I don’t show any signs of leaving post-graduation. Over these past four years, I’ve grown a real sense of pride of where I’m from, especially when bands from the hills of Pennsylvania make it big. I love seeing bands become a success, like it’s some little victory for me, despite the fact that I did absolutely nothing to warrant that feeling of …

tUnE-yArDs Shares New Single “Wait for a Minute”

Freak folk group tUnE-yArDs announced last month that a new album would be coming out May 6 via 4AD. The album, called Nikki Nackwill be a brighter, more accessible sound than the previous two albums. With the new single shared today, “Wait for a Minute,” we get a better understanding of how.

Unlike the previously shared “Water Fountain,” the new single is more mellow and bass heavy. Any sporadic street drumming and clanking you may have come to know well is pushed aside for some humming synth and extra bass. Merrill Garbus is slowing her voice …

Periphery Frontman Spencer Sotelo Joins From First To Last

Well, this was certainly unexpected.

Alternative Press is reporting that Periphery frontman Spencer Sotelo has joined From First To Last and is currently working with the band to finish their upcoming album. The announcement was made with a video statement from the band, which included a clip of Sotelo adding vocals to one of FFTL’s biggest hits. You can view that video on AltPress.

It is unclear at this point just what From First To Last have planned with their new release, but given the fact the clip teases a classic track it’s not impossible to imagine Sotelo fronting …
