State Champs Announce ‘Around The World And Back,’ Stream “Secrets”

State Champs have been very busy lately. The Albany pop-punk breakouts have spent the past year on the road alongside All Time Low in the U.S. and 5 Seconds Of Summer in Australia. In more good news, it seems they are gearing up finally to put out some new music.

Following their very successful debut full-length from 2013, The Finer Things, and a fantastic acoustic EP, the five-piece have just announced that they will be putting out a brand new record this fall.

Around The World And Back, the band’s impending sophomore effort, will be released on October …

The Dear Hunter Impress With New Song, “Waves”

Oh, Casey Crescenzo. I know I am engaged to be married in under a year’s time, but if I could run away with the music he creates with The Dear Hunter I would leave my gal at the alter without a second thought. I think she would understand, but even if she didn’t – oh well.

To be serious for a moment, The Dear Hunter have shared another song off their highly-anticipated new album, Act IV: Rebirth In Reprise. The track, titled “Waves,” had its world premiere on Billboard earlier today. You can stream the song at the end …

The Wonder Years Announce New Album, ‘No Closer to Heaven’

Earlier this year, pop-punk frontrunners The Wonder Years celebrated their tenth anniversary as a band with three discography shows in their hometown of Philadelphia. It now seems as though there are more big things in store for them in 2015.

This morning, the band has announced that they will be putting out a brand new album, entitled No Closer to Heaven – their fourth full-length record and second Hopeless Records effort – on September 4. It has been a little over two years since the band put out their Billboard-charting The Greatest Generation; the last and most commercially well-recieved …

The Dear Hunter’s New Song Proves They’re Still The Best

It’s June, which means anyone with even the slightest hint of interest in entertainment has been compiling and sharing their ‘best of 2015 so far’ lists. We haven’t released any yet, but if you think we haven’t talked about doing so you would be a damn fool. They’re coming, or at least should, at some point in the near future.

I thought I knew my picks for the best musical offerings this year. In fact, I wrote them all down just last week in order to begin brainstorming a creative way to share them here on UTG. That was before …

UTG PREMIERE: Treason This – “Moviegoers Dilemma”

If there is one genre of alternative music with fiercer competition right now than pop punk I have yet to discover it. Still, as countless groups come and go with songs not good enough to hold our attention, a few young groups are breaking through the noise with catchy tracks too good to deny.

Milwaukee quartet Treason This hail from a place almost no one considers a music hub, at least for the pop punk scene. Regardless, this promising young act have the songwriting chops and music talent needed to be something great, and today we’re thrilled to present the …

Parkway-Drive-2015

Parkway Drive Is (Still) The Best Heavy Band In Music Today

Anytime Parkway Drive decide to treat the world to new music is cause for celebration as far as we are concerned, and their latest single is no exception.

Released this morning, June 9, “Vice Grip” reintroduces the world to Parkway Drive’s unique take on hard rock with huge riffs and an even larger hook. It’s the most straightforward rock song the band has ever shared, so much that it feels destined for radio play but it’s undeniably born from the same minds and influences that birthed the group’s heaviest material. Think of it as post-modern hard rock with a metal …

Carly Rae Jepsen To Release ‘E•MO•TION’ This Summer; Listen To Its Lead Single

Having recently put out “I Really Like You” and “All That,” two absolutely sensational tracks, the Canadian singer-songwriter that brought us the radio hit “Call Me Maybe,” Carly Rae Jepsen seems to be gearing up for the release of her third full-length record, which is reportedly entitled E•MO•TION.

iTunes from Japan seems to report that the record will be released there on June 23. There has been no word as to whether or not the release date for North America is similar. In the meantime, though, you can listen to E•MO•TION‘s title track over …

SINGLE REVIEW: We Came As Romans – “The World I Used To Know”

Artist: We Came As Romans
Song: “The World I Used To Know”
Album: Self-Titled

The evolution of We Came As Romans is entangled with the band’s own passion for storytelling and inspirational lyricism. Their journey is their song, and their songs detail their journey. Having long conquered the world of post-hardcore with multiple albums featuring top shelf production and the perfect combination of sing/scream vocals, the group have now stripped their music to its core, and through doing so found a new sound that marks the beginning of yet another chapter in their already celebrated career.…

The Weeknd Drops “The Hills”

The Weeknd may still be enjoying the success of his single “Earned It,” but he’s back today with a new single and video fans are sure to enjoy.

“The Hills” arrives online just two days after a number of unexpected leaks from The Weeknd hit the net (including the incredible “I Can’t Feel My Face“). Whether this release is a response to those leaks or an attempt to better control the conversation remains unclear, but the quality of this material is undeniable. There is very little to the song that is outside the typical sound of …

Pop Evil To Release ‘Up’ Album In August

It’s a good day to love modern rock and roll, dear friends. Michigan’s Pop Evil have announced the release date of their next studio album, and it’s coming a whole lot sooner than you may have expected.

Up, the follow-up to 2013′s highly-successful Onyx, will arrive in stores August 21. The lead single, “Footsteps,” will hit radio on June 1. We asked the label to let us hear the track early, but they were not as into the idea as we were.

Speaking in regard to the band’s success over the last two years, frontman Leigh Kakaty offers:…
