Get Your Freak On; New Missy Elliott Record In The Works

Way before teenage girls with Instagram would twerk it, Missy ‘MISDEMEANOR’ Elliott taught our youth how to work it. And before Timbaland was recognized for working with artists such as Justin Timberlake, he was notoriously known for shooting rappers like Elliott into the next realm of hip-hop super stardom.

“It’s coming,” producer Timbaland told Rolling Stone. “It’s on her. She got the first single, it’s just a matter of when she wants to do it. We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun. We have the game-changer right there.”

For Missy, it’s been a quiet few years; and by years …

Foxygen And Star Power

Foxygen Announce New Album, Tour, Share “How Can You Really” Music Video

Last year saw constant back-and-forth press releases about LA retro pop duo Foxygen supposedly breaking up. Here we are in 2014, and not only are the band back together, but they’ve announced a new full-length, …And Star Power, out October 14 via Jagjaguwar. The album has a whopping 24 tracks and sees contributions from “a gaggle of guest stars.” According to the press release, it was recorded on a tape machine at the infamous Chateau Marmont and is filled with “psych-ward folk, cartoon fantasia, soft-rock indulgences, D&D doom rock, and paranoid bathroom rompers.” Take that as you will.

Cymbals Eat Guitars Post “Warning” and Add Tour Dates

The noise rockers in Cymbals Eat Guitars have a new album entitled LOSE coming out very soon. And the band has been steadily releasing tracks from the effort, and it’s definitely a sleeper pick.

As said, they have already posted the album opener “Jackson”, the melodic “Chambers”, and now they have posted the loud and emotional “Warning.”

The track fits collectively with the prior that they have released. It’s got a fuzzy touch, but the melodies that were present on the earlier tracks are still there, and it’s mixed perfectly.…

MUSIC VIDEO: The Gaslight Anthem – “Rollin’ And Tumblin’”

The Gaslight Anthem have released a new music video for their track “Rollin’ And Tumblin’.”

The video, which finds the band performing in black and white to synchronized dancers encapsulating them, is the second video released for their new album Get Hurt, following the release of the video for the album’s title track, “Get Hurt.

Get Hurt is said to be a stylistic change for the band, and that evidence can be seen in their new video. The video features a barrage of flashing white lights, not unlike The 1975. The band even chose Mike Crossey, the …

Naomi Punk Television Man

Stream Naomi Punk’s Noisy New Album ‘Television Man’

On August 5, Naomi Punk will release their sophomore full-length, Television Man, and the Olympia trio are streaming the record in its entirety over at Pitchfork Advance in anticipation of that date. If you catch them on one of the opening tour dates this weekend, however, you’ll get to hear the tracks live where they take on an even more raw, gritty sound.

Television Man sees the punk rockers bringing a DIY style back to the noisy rock and distant lyrics to cathartic levels. With standout tracks like the bitter “Eleven Inches” and instrumental masterpiece “Eon of Pain,” there’s no …

Meatbodies

Listen to Ty Segall and Mikal Cronin Member’s New Band Meatbodies

Back when Ty Segall was touring in his new band FUZZ and Mikal Cronin made a critically-acclaimed solo debut, Chad Ubovich was playing guitar and bass behind both psych rock gods. Between tours, Ubovich spent his time recording his own crunchy fuzz as Chad and the Meatbodies. With a little help from Segall, he’s now gone on to be picked up by label In The Red and will be releasing his self-titled debut as the renamed Meatbodies.

The 12-track debut was recorded with Eric Bauer (Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, White Fence) and saw friends Cory Hanson of Wand and …

Twin Peaks Wild Onion

ALBUM STREAM: Twin Peaks – ‘Wild Onion’

Chicago’s youth ain’t got nothin’ on its under-21 fellows Twin Peaks. The four-piece pop rock group will drop their sophomore release, Wild Onion, on August 5, and it’s not just Chicago that’s cheering them on. In anticipation, they’ve put the whole rowdy, riffy, jovial record up for streaming on Pitchfork Advance.

Slipknot

Slipknot Keep It Creepy (And Sort Of Pointless) With Latest Album Teaser

I’m starting to believe that if you have seen one promotional video for the new Slipknot album you have more or less seen them all. It’s (k)not that I am (k)not excited for the new album, it’s just that I saw The Ring pull the same creepy motion effect a decade ago and as far as I can tell none of the nonsensical horror themed visuals we have seen thus far are attempting to tell any kind of story.

TL;DR: I don’t really ‘get it.’

All that said, a fourth teaser for the new album from Slipknot quietly found its …
