Set Your Goals

Outlook Uncertain: Set Your Goals Update Fans On Status Of Band

Set Your Goals have been a favorite band of many UTG staffers and readers over the years, but anyone with even the slightest interest in the beloved pop punk outfit could tell you it has been a while since the group did basically anything at all. To make matters worse, they have also remained largely silent about when, or even if, they plan on doing more in the future.

On Christmas morning, an update was posted on the band’s official Facebook explaining that the members of Set Your Goals had only recently learned of their ability to communicate with fans …

Madonna Rebel Heart

Madonna Announces New Album ‘Rebel Heart’ Feat. Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and Diplo

When Madonna‘s demos leaked earlier this week, she was rightfully devastated. The pop icon called it an “artistic rape” and a “form of terrorism,” but now she’s fighting back by announcing the album officially and dropping six tracks to stream.

Her new album, titled Rebel Heart, drops March 10 via Interscope and sees help from Kanye West, Diplo, and Nicki Minaj (who hops on the fiercely titled “Bitch I’m Madonna”). Supposedly, Madonna also worked with Sophie, Blood Diamonds, DJ Dahi, and maybe even Ariel Pink. More of the album’s songs will be out on February 9.

Knuckle Puck Announce Signing With Rise Records

After releasing a slew of EPs and touring relentlessly in their short tenure as a band, Chicago pop-punkers Knuckle Puck have taken a big step in signing with Rise Records.

The band released their latest EP, While I Stay Secluded, at the end of October via Bad Timing Records, and the release already showed a promising path for the quintet. With the announcement of the signing, the band will release their full-length debut album sometime in the summer of 2015.

Check out what guitarist Kevin Maida had to say about their newest achievement:

REVIEW: The Cinema – ‘Talking In Your Sleep’

Artist: The Cinema
Title: Talking In Your Sleep
Label: 8123 Records
Genre: Indie Pop

In 2011, a new musical force was brought upon the music world when Lydia’s frontman Leighton Antelman and producer Matt Malpass created The Cinema. This resulted in their debut album My Blood Is Full Of Airplanes the same year, which was met with critical acclaim and showed a new direction in Antelman’s musical endeavors. Fast forward three years and the collaboration brings us Talking In Your Sleep, which takes My Blood Is Full Of Airplanes and sprinkles layers of vocal transformations and epic …

Kendrick Lamar Debuts Untitled New Song On ‘Colbert Report’

Stephen Colbert is in the midst of wrapping up his long-running and highly successful Comedy Central show, The Colbert Report, and last night he asked Kendrick Lamar to help him say goodbye.

Serving as the final musical guest The Colbert Report will ever host, K. Dot partook in a short conversation with Stephen before surprising the audience, as well as viewers at home, with the world premiere of a brand new song. The track has no title, or if it does that information has not been made public, but the vibes you get when it plays fit well with …

REVIEW: Nicki Minaj – ‘The Pinkprint’

Artist: Nicki Minaj
Album: The Pinkprint
Genre: Hip-Hop
Label: Young Money

Whenever new material from Nicki Minaj arrives online people are quick to ask whether the pop star’s delivery falls under the category of ‘radio’ or ‘mixtape’ Minaj. The former is typically viewed a hook-heavy club offering, while the latter tends to refer to tracks where Minaj drops all pop sensibility in preference of her hip-hop roots. The Pinkprint is a perfect combination of both, though I would argue that it offers the least radio ready collection of tracks Nicki has shared with fans to date. That’s not a complaint, …

Enter Shikari Premiere “Slipshod”

Enter Shikari are known for pushing the boundaries of their signature post-hardcore/electronic blend with every release, but a bonus track from their forthcoming record has went beyond most listeners’ potential imagination. Entitled “Slipshod,” the cut erratically swings from a screamed Rou Reynolds monologue concerning his poor service at a high-end restaurant over swirling instrumentals into a moombahton-esque breakdown, all the while never losing its gargantuan levels of energy.

Absurd in its own right, this does not even begin to describe the accompanying cartoon visuals portraying a conflict worthy of more than its two-minute runtime. Without further ado, though, follow the …

Modest Mouse Are Teasing New Music

Let’s be honest. You’re itching for a new Modest Mouse album. They haven’t released a full-length studio album since 2007′s We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank with the last piece of music being released in 2009′s No One’s First and You’re Next EP. But, your answers and prayers may be answered come next year.

Today, the folk alternative group created a new Instagram account where they posted a picture of a 7-inch vinyl record with the words “Side A” and “Lampshades On Fire” written on one side of it. No recent announcements have been made regarding a new …

Joanna Newsom

Joanna Newsom Will Share First New Music in Five Years “Soon”

Folk harpist and singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom has been pretty silent over the last few years. After tying the knot with Andy Samberg, making a cameo on Portlandia, and starring in the new Paul Thomas Anderson film, she’s been laying relatively low. With the release of her massive record Have One On Me, a two-hour saga of whimsical fairy folk, in 2010, it was safe to assume she needed time to work on an adequate follow-up. Now, as FACT points out, that material may be on its way.

In a new interview with Dazed, she said …

Coldplay Announce Seventh Full-Length Album, ‘A Head Full of Dreams’

It has been only seven months since we were graced with Coldplay‘s sixth studio album, Ghost Stories, and already, our favorite band of Brits are back in the studio working on a follow-up.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, lead vocalist Chris Martin announced that the group is in the middle of recording their seventh full-length record, which will be titled A Head Full of Dreams.

“The way we look at it, it’s like the last Harry Potter book,” said Martin. “That’s not to say there won’t be another thing one day, but this is …
