Desaparecidos Sign To Epitaph Records, New Album Out This Year

Desaparecidos are arising from the musical depths to release new music again. After releasing only one album in 2002 with Read Music/Speak Spanish and two singles — “Anonymous” and “The Left Is Right” — in 2013, it was noticeable that the band was slowly but surely getting their act together for a somewhat explosive return.

That day has come for the Omaha, Nebraska quintet, fronted by Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), as they’ve joined the stacked roster of Epitaph Records. With this announcement, it is exciting to know that a new Desaparecidos album will be released as well, their first in …

TLC Are Trying To Raise $150,000 For ‘Final’ Studio Album

Following a career that has spanned more than two decades and 65 million album sales, TLC have turned to Kickstarter in order to fund what they claim will be their ‘final’ studio album.

Yes, you read that right. TLC’s remaining members, T Boz and Chili, have launched a Kickstarter campaign seeking $150,000 so that the duo may record one last studio album. The group claims this was not a decision made out of a desire to avoid record labels, but rather one made in hopes of further involving fans in the creative process. You have to pledge at least $15 …

Lil Wayne Drops “Fingers Hurting”

While the long-delayed release of Lil Wayne‘s final record, Tha Carter V, has been embroiled in plenty of public controversy due to continued sparring between Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records, there is now a bit of solace within the rapper’s camp as Weezy is finally set to release a pre-Carter mixtape. Entitled Sorry 4 the Wait 2, Weezy has begun hyping up the effort with “Fingers Hurting,” a banger of a track armed with a slapping beat and autotune drenched bars whose punchy quality harkens back to the days of No Ceilings.

Anti-Flag Announce New Album, ‘American Spring’

Anti-Flag will release their tenth studio album, American Spring, this coming May through Spinefarm Records. It will act as a followup to 2012’s The General Strike.

“We are excited to announce that our tenth full-length record will be released on Spinefarm Records this spring,” the band stated earlier today via their official website. “There is no shortage of fodder for a new record of commentary on the social and political climate in 2015: Endless wars, the new Jim Crow and American injustice, corprotocracy, environmental coup d’état, the surveillance state, loss, grief, and anxiety. We hope that these …

Mariage Blanc Announce ‘No Autobiography,’ Stream “Blue Eyes”

One of our 9 Artists To Watch in 2015, indie rock quartet Mariage Blanc have finally made the announcement we’ve been anxious to hear. Their newest release, No Autobiography, will be available sometime this Spring, and the album’s exceptional lead single is available to stream now.

Premiering today over at HuffPost, “Blue Eyes” is smooth, melancholy indie pop at its finest, appearing to draw influences from such acts as Elliott Smith, Real Estate, and The Radio Dept. Following up their excellent (and criminally overlooked) 2013 EP, Undercurrents, the Pittsburgh natives will be delivering a surefire contender for …

Bjork Announces New Album ‘Vulnicura’

Bjork has announced her newest album, titled Vulnicura. The album is said to be released sometime in March.

The followup to 2011′s Biophilia, Vulnicura will consist of nine tracks, six of which were co-produced with Arca (Kayne West, FKA Twigs). The Haxan Cloak also lent a production hand to the album, with Bjork co-producing herself on all the tracks.

Hopefully Bjork will also embark on a new tour for the album. She is set to appear at this year’s Governors Ball, which will hopefully be a part of a new string of performances.

To announce Vulnicura, Bjork …

Oceano Return with Bone-Crushing New Single, “Dead Planet”

It’s been some time since Oceano graced the front page of UTG, but late yesterday, the Chicago five-piece returned full force with the release of a brand new back-breaker titled “Dead Planet.” Give it a listen by following the jump below.

The track is taken from the group’s forthcoming full-length, Ascendants, which will hit shelves on March 23 through Earache Records. It will act as a follow-up to 2013’s Incisions.

Though not groundbreaking by any means, Oceano’s latest offering is fun and unforgiving. If you’re a fan, sound off in the comments section.…

Hear In Tall Buildings’ Melodic ’70s Pop on “Unmistakable”

On February 17, indie rock solo project In Tall Buildings will drop his sophomore album, Driver. It’s a moody record of intimate vocals and quiet funk based off what we’ve heard so far, and now with his newest single, “Unmistakable,” streaming online, we can go ahead and tell you it’s one of our most anticipated underdog releases of the year.

The Chicago native isn’t looking to reinvent the past. His nods to Peter Gabriel and Afropunk are woven in with the natural efforts of someone blending electronic pop and synth funk in their head. With Erik Hall’s warm vocals, …

Meek Mill Drops “Monster” & Reaffirms His Hip-Hop Dominance

Meek Mill spent a good portion of 2014 incarcerated, and it was because of that time away that his long-awaited Sophomore album was pushed from September to the new year. We still don’t know when Dreams Worth More Than Money will arrive, but late last night we got a new track that has put the entire rap community on its head.

“Monster” is the full-length version of “The Get Back,” a freestyle that surfaced earlier in the month. The track finds Meek Mill going in over a Jahill Beats production with the wit, speed, and intelligence that has become his …
