Neutral Milk Hotel Tour To Be Full International Tour Through 2014

Well, maybe we won’t have to travel south. The announcement earlier this week of a Neutral Milk Hotel reunion had a small indication there would be more dates, saying there was “more to come,” but it was hard to say for sure, as the announcement also included the quote “…and of water course womb rume is a wandering the welkin woman…” Point being, it’s hard to decipher old Elephant 6 messages.

Pollstar, the standard for music industry touring data, got a quote out of NMH’s long time booking agent Jim Romeo of Ground Control Touring, who said …

HOLY SH!T: Neutral Milk Hotel Reunite For Brief Tour

Wow. I want to say wow times a thousand. A few short years ago, I never would’ve expected Jeff Mangum to come out of his hiding away, forever living on as some indie rock myth. Yet, it’s 2013, and I’ve got to see him perform as a solo artist twice. Each time it left me holding out hope that I would one day get to see Neutral Milk Hotel perform in full.

Well, 2013 is a year to be lived. Neutral Milk Hotel will be reuniting for five shows. That’s a pretty lame tour, overall. But I don’t care. You …

Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel) Extends Solo Tour, Will Continue Touring

When Jeff Mangum first announced his 2013 tour, it was widely thought to be his final tour ever. After all, his 2012 tour was his first real series of shows since Neutral Milk Hotel was still a band (I’m excluding festival one-offs).  A message with new tour dates has been released on his website that’s worded in such a quirky way, you have to think Jeff is behind it (although it is signed Artoria Gibbons).

It reads “dear friends,

with mouth music the meaning seems to say that there are rumors going round that that this is to be

WATCH: Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel) And Guy Picciotto (Fugazi) – “Sign The Dotted Line” (The Tall Dwarfs Cover)

Jeff Mangum has played for the Occupy Wall Street movement many times; his original return to performing was a spontaneous performance in New York City. He lives in the city now, after all. Guy Picciotto has been more of a producer than a band member since Fugazi‘s hiatus. However, the two independent legends joined together to cover a song originally by The Tall Dwarfs, “Sign The Dotted Line”.

Take note of Jeff’s no shave November and watch the performance here on UTG by clicking “Read more”. Be sure to check out Jeff’s full tour dates here, too.…

Jeff Mangum (Of Neutral Milk Hotel) Announces More Tour Dates

Jeff Mangum, songwriter and the brains behind Neutral Milk Hotel, is going on tour again. I was lucky enough to get to see him last time, and I’ll definitely be seeing him this time again. The indie legend has also played for the Occupy Wall Street crowds (remember when that was a cool thing to do?), and released a full Neutral Milk Hotel box set, which you can buy here.

Speculation seems to think its unlikely Jeff will ever do another album or full band tour, but because strange things happen (like Dave Grohl rejoining Queens of

REVIEW: Right Away, Great Captain – The Church of the Good Thief

Artist:Right Away, Great Captain
Album: The Church of the Good Thief
Genre: Folk Rock, Indie
Label: Favorite Gentlemen Records

If you can listen to the first 60 seconds of The Church of the Good Thief, the third album in the Right Away, Great Captain trilogy without crediting Andy Hull with the title of poet your heart is hard and your mind is jaded. Creating more of a novel than an album, Hull’s concept for Right Away, Great Captain borders on the brilliance of Hemingway himself. His concept has Hull tell the story of a 17th century sailor who returns …

Neutral Milk Hotel release box set

For all the fans of Neutral Milk Hotel out there, start saving your money! Vocalist Jeff Magnum is self-releasing a vinyl-only box-set. The set will include the band’s entire discography, 15 unreleased tracks, and 2 posters. The set is up for pre-sale here.

Jeff Mangum returns to the stage (seriously!)

If you love indie music in any way, shape, or form then you most likely know the name Jeff Mangum better than that of members of your extended family Mangum, the mastermind behind Neutral Milk Hotel, has been infamously silent on the music scene for many years, until now. According to sources, Mangum performed a secret show last night in Brooklyn for about 75 people and performed 10 NMH songs. Click here to audio of five songs from Mangum’s performance. No information has been released to say or even hint that this performance will lead to more shows or another album, but it’s something and that’s more than fans have had for awhile.

New [old] Neutral Milk Hotel live videos

In celebration of the reissue of their two timeless albums, Neutral Milk Hotel and more accordingly Merge Records have released two [apparently] never-before-seen live videos from 1998 at the Knitting Factory in NYC. See them below:

Neutral Milk Hotel to Release Albums on Vinyl

Source: Tom Breihan, Pitchfork
It has now been 11 years since the last time we heard a new album from Elephant 6 soul-stirrers Neutral Milk Hotel, and we still don’t know if we’re ever going to hear another full-on rock album from the band or reclusive leader Jeff Mangum. If anything, NMH’s two albums have only grown in stature, especially 1998′s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. The last time Aeroplane was reissued, Pitchfork dropped a 10.0 on it.

On November 3, Merge will reissue both Neutral Milk Hotel albums (Aeroplane and the 1996 full-length debut On Avery Island) on …
