STREAM: Scars Of Tomorrow – “Questions”

Scars Of Tomorrow are a five piece metal outfit hailing from Portland, Oregon. They’ve been working on new music, and plan on releasing their yet to be named album through Artery Recordings later this year. Earlier today they premiered a brand new single which will be featured on that album. The song is titled “Questions,” and you can give it a listen by taking a look below the break.

“Questions” is one of the best songs the band has released to date. The unclean vocals are on point, and they even sneak a guitar solo in near the end of …

Breakdown Of Sanity

Watch Breakdown Of Sanity’s Video For “Hero”

I personally feel that Breakdown Of Sanity are one of the most under appreciated metal acts out there right now. They’re based out of Bern, Switzerland, and last October they released a killer thirteen track album titled Perception. One of the singles off that album is “Hero,” and yesterday the band revealed the powerful music video for the song. You can check it out below the break.

“Hero” is one of the best tracks on the album, and the perfect one to shoot a video for. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to Perception yet, I recommend …

Mayhem-Fest-official-confirmed-lineup-2014

Rockstar Mayhem Festival Announces 2014 Lineup

After months of rumors, speculation and leaks, the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival has officially announced the official lineup for the 2014 edition of the tour. Officially. The trek will be headlined by Avenged Sevenfold, who, surprisingly enough, are playing the festival for the first time, save for a few guest appearances in 2010. They’ll be joined on the main stage by frequently recycled Mayhem acts Korn, Asking Alexandria and Trivium.

But as usual, most of the fun will be had on the side stages, where the wide array of attractions include death metal veterans Cannibal Corpse, Ice …

For Today

Watch For Today’s Video For “Break The Cycle” Featuring Matty Mullins

Fight The Silence is For Today‘s fifth studio album. They released it last month via Razor & Tie Records. The album’s theme overall is about pulling people out of darkness and hate, and one song in particular that carries this message is “Break The Cycle,” featuring Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire. There’s no doubt that For Today is a Christian band, and frontman Mattie Montgomery has made it a point to use his faith to guide his music. The band released a music video for this song, and it’s just about what you might expect from a …

Scott Ian at BB Kings

UTG PHOTOS & REVIEW: Scott Ian’s ‘Speaking Words’ Tour (3/5/14)

Ladies and gentlemen, UTG can now double-confirm that Scott Ian is a very well-spoken, hilarious, and brutally honest man. If you were able to catch our interview with him a little while back, you probably chuckled at some of that charisma while perusing our conversation with him.

When his first ever US spoken word tour came through B.B. King’s in New York City, we were able to check out the show and catch up with Ian afterwards. It was certainly interesting seeing the shredder from Anthrax take stage in a blues club, much less without any other musicians and only …

Killer Be Killed

ATTN Metalheads: Listen to Two Songs from Supergroup Killer Be Killed

For about a year and a half, the metal community has been buzzing about a supergroup involving guitarists Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Sepultura), Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan), bassist Troy Saunders (Mastodon) and drummer Dave Elitch (The Mars Volta).

Back in October, the project was dubbed Killer Be Killed and announced a record deal with Nuclear Blast. Their debut album was recorded with renowned metal producer Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Gojira) at the helm and is due on May 13 in North America, and today, we finally have a taste of what we can expect on the LP …

Cardinal

Check Out The Epic Eleven Minute Debut Single By Cardinal

Cardinal describe themselves as “atmospheric black metal” on their Facebook page. This is a sound that’s hard for me to imagine, but luckily the Houston-based group did the leg work for me and released the debut single from their upcoming EP, Alpine Voice. You can stream the song, titled “Hiraeth,” by taking a look below the break.

The song starts off slow, and has some slow parts throughout it. Don’t let that fool you though, as it definitely packs a punch. If you have eleven minutes to spare, I’d recommend checking this out. You can even pick it up …

Shai Hulud

UTG PHOTOS: Shai Hulud (2/24/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Derek Scancarelli, to the Amityville Music Hall in New York to photograph Shai Hulud on February 24, 2014.

At the very end of a two-month tour that Shai Hulud boasted as fueled by sickness, Del Taco, Subway, snow, burritos, new friends, van breakdowns, and all around “shenanigans,” the band played a final show in Amityville, NY. The guys shared the stage with Extinction AD, Walkers, and many more.

The New York show was just what the guys needed after some killer shows alongside This Or The Apocalypse, Sworn In, Sirens & Sailors, …

Dan Briggs - Between the Buried and Me

UTG TV: An Interview With Between The Buried And Me’s Dan Briggs

“It was pretty magical. We were wearing suits and dress pants. It felt like we were desecrating the place with the music we were playing, so we might as well look nice,” says Dan Briggs, reflecting on his performance at the world-renowned Radio City Music Hall.

Whether or not you’re into music as heavy or intense as Between the Buried and Me, you must recognize and respect the band’s level of success and achievements. The members’ ability to play their instruments is unrivaled by many of today’s metal and progressive artists. Consequently, BTBAM may be the only band …
