2013 Download Festival Lineup Announced

UK’s Download Festival looks absolutely insane this year. I’m publicly sobbing that I won’t be there in June. The event takes place from June 14 to June 16; we already knew several acts like Queens of the Stone Age were playing, but this lineup is tough to beat.

The acts? Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Bullet For My Valentine, Queens of the Stone Age, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Enter Shikari, Alice in Chains, Mastodon, Stone Sour, Parkway drive, Five Finger Death Punch, Jimmy Eat World, and so much more. I just can’t believe Jimmy Eat World, Limp Bizkit, …

Members Of The Mars Volta, Mastodon, Converge, And More Form Supergroup

I’ve said a thousand times that it constantly shocks me how seemingly every musician knows every other musician on the scene. I think that’s why projects and supergroups seem to be more and more common; this one must be between friends and it has a wide array of genres covered by everyone’s original band. The lineup? Max Cavalera (vocalist/guitarist from Soulfly and Sepultra), Troy Sanders (bassist/vocalist for Mastodon), Greg Puciato (vocalist for Dillinger Escape Plan), Nate Newton (bassist for Converge), and Dave Elitich (drummer from The Mars Volta).

That seems to be a whole lot …

West End Motel (Mastodon) Streaming New Album

West End Motel are not releasing their forthcoming album, Only Time Can Tell, until October 30 but that has not stopped the guys from streaming the entire effort on Paste Magazine. WEM was originally formed by Mastodon’s own Brent Hinds and Tom Cheshire in Atlanta almost 20 years ago.

Brent Hinds told Paste about his influences for this material. He stated, “I grew up listening to Chet Atkins play guitar, and I grew up listening to Brian Setzer play guitar,” Hinds said. “Jimmy Bryant, Speedy West, all these country-chicken-pickin’-flying-‘round-the-guitar-neck guitar players. I got really inspired by it. I’m

GO TO THIS: Mastodon Announce Dates With Opeth & Ghost

Mastodon have revealed the full routing for their upcoming Spring headlining tour with Opeth and Ghost.

Before we get to the dates, let me just take a second to clarify the need for each and every single one of you to attend this tour.

First and foremost, Mastodon and Opeth are the kind of bands your favorite bands wish they could be. They set the curve for their individual subgenres of metal and command the stage with unrelenting force.

Secondly, and possibly the real story of this tour, GHOST. Hailing from Sweden, this band of costumed metalheads hail the dark …

MUSIC VIDEO: Red Fang – Hank is Dead

Red Fang unveiled their new video for “Hank is Dead” off of their album Murder the Mountains today, and needless to say it’s hilarious. The video showcases an air-guitar contest that is way more ridiculous than it sounds. Portland, Oregon natives Red Fang have been around the metal scene since 2005, and right now they are direct supports for Mastodon on their European tour. Check out the “Hank is Dead” music video and European tour dates after the break and let UTG know what you think of the music video.
