REST IN PEACE: Life On Hold

After five years of creating music loved everywhere they could reach, Massachusetts’ Life On Hold have announced they are breaking up.

Now before any of you get too sad, there is some good news. Life On Hold have been recording and will be releasing one final album. You can read about the record, as well as the reasoning behind the split, below:

Taking place this weekend at the Brattle Theater in Cambridge, MA, the fourteenth annual Boston Underground Film Festival is the latest in what has become one of America’s finest explorations into the bizarre, insane, and completely absurd. Founded by David Kleiler in 1998, the festival boasts an extended weekend full of features, shorts, ande special segments dedicated to the art of music videos. We know not all of our readers are able to make it out on such short notice, but if you can, the trip will be well worth the pains of travel.

Nemes Premiere “Blue Rose”

Worcester, MA indie rock act Nemes have released a new song just in time for the new year.

Entitled “Blue Rose” and apparently recorded in a garage of some sort, the latest music from this ever-evolving act continues their growth from pop friendlies to folk masters with heartbreaking lyrics and beautiful instrumentation. You can discover the song for yourself, after the jump.

It’s Metal Day, Download The New Ligeia EP And Crank It To 11/11/11

The day the UTG staff has been waiting for all year has finally arrived.

Today, Massachusetts metalcore greats Ligeia (finally) released their first new material since 2008′s Bad News. The EP, Welcome To Palm City, is available for free download in mp3 or HQ wav form via the band’s official website. Click here to grab your copy.

Massachusetts’ Life On Hold may not be a household name yet, but something tells us that is about to change. Blending folk and pop sensibilities, with a heavy does of harmony and melody, there is little to no reason for anyone to not fall head over heels for this group.

Recently, Life On Hold released The Outsider EP for free download to their friends and fans. UTG has acquired the stream to the album, which comes complete with downloads, and decided it simply had to be shared.
