STREAM: Schematic – ‘Color (N.) Inside The Lines’

We’ve been tracking Mae frontman Dave Elkins’ solo project Schematic since word came out back in November that it was even a thing. One successful Kickstarter project and a couple of weeks spent in the studio later and now we can hear the sonic fruits of Elkins’ effort.

Color (n.) Inside The Lines won’t officially come out until tomorrow but Elkins teamed up with Idobi and the pair were generous enough to put the whole thing up on Soundcloud for streaming ahead of its release.

The debut from Schematic is a celebration of erudite melodicism and anthemic alternative rock …

Did Hudson Mohawke Sign With Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music?

The twitter feeds giving some conflicting accounts on this one. But what else is new?

It looks like Hudson Mohawke, Brit electronic production wunderkind, is the newest addition to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music family. Oh, and that’s information that we, the listening public, probably weren’t supposed to be privy to yet.

THE FACTS:

  • HudMo’s management tweeted that the trill beatmaker was signed as a producer to Very Good Beats, the production arm of West’s G.O.O.D. Music and that Mohawke’s solo releases would continue to be put out by Warp Records, as they had been in the past. Well, something

It looks like the former pastor isn’t a bad boy anymore.

Rapper Ma$e revealed in an interview with MTV’s RapFix Live that he was no longer affiliated with Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Records after spending 16 years on their roster.

“Yeah, the other day [Combs] let me out of it,” said Ma$e of Diddy’s decision to let him out of his contract, reportedly only a few days prior to the interview. “So big shout-outs to Diddy, I guess he woke up feeling good and he wanted to do something good.”

Ma$e also expounded on some of the other twists …

Dave Elkins (Mae) Opens Up Shop On New Project; Seeks Support

Last year, Mae called it a day. This year, Dave Elkins, the band’s frontman, returns with an exciting new project bent on changing the game up a bit.

The project is called Schematic and it’s more a community than a project. Schematic is a business built on 4 pillars. They are Schematic Records, Schematic Studios, Schematic Management, and Schematic Community. All of these pillars support an idea that intends to provide opportunity, growth, and reward.

“With crowdfunding, social networking, and other tools, many emerging artists don’t actually need a loan. They just need a community to connect with, a long
