EDITORIAL: “Brave: Why Pixar Should Take the Animated Flick’s Healthy Performance with a Grain of Salt”

Even with 13 record-breaking animated pictures under its belt, Pixar’s success continues to astound. There is arguably no entertainment company with as much goodwill as the Disney-owned, California-based production studio. Since it unleashed Toy Story in 1995, Pixar has amassed one of the most loyal fan bases in movie history. The company’s consistent track record has allowed its name to become a stamp of quality on a product and even a powerful marketing tool. Supporters can point to the studio’s latest release Brave – which opened to a healthy $66.7 million this weekend – as more proof of the brand’s …

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: JUNE 22-24

I really do not think it would be a stretch to say that this weekend would have been easy to predict for the top box office slot. Pixar’s new movie Brave claimed the title raking in more green than the lush Scottish countryside most of the film was set in. Honest Abe failed to be a big draw with Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter taking the number three slot despite lots of buzz on the internet, and the new indie comedy/drama Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World managed to cling to the top ten list right at the …

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: June 15-17

It was a slow weekend for moviegoers, probably due to the new releases available to see. Even more disappointing are the weekend numbers for That’s My Boy. Hopefully this means everyone is finally sick of Adam Sandler after his last terrible movie, Jack And Jill. You can see the top ten movies from the weekend …

EDITORIAL: “Prometheus: How the Sci-Fi Flick’s R-Rating Helped It Conquer Audiences Worldwide”

Earlier this year, Universal cancelled a proposed $150 million adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s At The Mountains of Madness when director Guillermo del Toro refused to settle for less than an R-rating. A fervent devotee of the novella, the Pan’s Labyrinth director had been working on the script for more than half a decade and didn’t want to see the darkness in the original story toned down on screen by a PG-13. Big-budget blockbusters are so amazing in their scale – think of the thousands of hours poured into a film by thousands of talented people – that it seems humorous …

MOVIE TRAILER: Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted

The sequel no one expected or really asked for is on the way and today UTG has the first official teaser trailer to surface online.

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted finds the cast of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, Frances McDormand and Sacha Baron Cohen together once again on another CGI-filled, animals-dancings escapade. According to the Yahoo! synopsis:

Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe are still fighting to get home to their beloved Big Apple and of course, King Julien, Maurice and the Penguins are all along for the
