Songs For The Season: Summer Playlist

Summer, the long coveted season for students, teachers, kids, parks, and numerous other interested parties, has always seemed to invigorate the beginning of something new. While it presents a change in season, it also sparks a temperate reinvention. Summer removes the constraints of autumn’s sweatshirts, winter’s coats, spring’s windbreakers, and welcomes humanity in its most natural form. With daylight bursting through the seams, endless possibilities, and a world to explore, summer rewards us with the sweat from our brow, and the heat consumed by our bodies. But, alas, what would a summer piece from UTG be without music?

RiFF RAFF Shows How To Be The Man In New Music Video

After teasing fans with behind-the-scenes footage of a music video seemingly ages ago, RiFF RAFF has teamed up with MySpace to premiere a brand new Versace music video for “How to Be the Man.” The video is fitting for the rap game’s Neon Icon as it finds him surrounded by models in neon swimsuits, tripped out animated visuals ranging from the neon Pink Panther to neon sharks, and of course, neon admirers in the form of onlooking children eating snow-cones while being held by neon models and learning from the Neon Icon himself in a neon classroom.

Mixtape: Mac Miller – ‘Faces’

As promised, Pennsylvania native Mac Miller has blessed the internet with a brand new mixtape.

Titled Faces, the latest from Mac Miller features 24 brand new tracks and appearances from Schoolboy Q, Rick Ross, Mike Jones, Earl Sweatshirt, Vince Staples and more. It’s a considerably more relaxed release for the emcee than many may be expecting, but it falls in line well with Watching Movies and the various Larry Fisherman songs that have surfaced since that record hit stores during summer 2013. You can stream and download the album, in full, below.

WTF: Mac Miller Covers The Bright Eyes Ballad “Lua”

Mac Miller has released a variety of odd musical offerings through his alter-ego Larry Fisherman, but last night he outdid himself with the debut of a Bright Eyes cover that is sure to have indie kids tweeting up a storm in no time.

Accompanied by only an acoustic guitar, Miller does his best to croon the lyrics of Conor Oberst during his rendition of “Lua.” The song’s semi-tragic tale of lost souls clinging to one another (as well as their addictions) on a cold night plays as well as ever, even if Miller’s voice is in no way comparable to …

FREE MP3: Mac Miller – “Erica’s House”

Mac Miller has been slowly leaking new material over the last several months, and last night he continued that trend with the unexpected debut of a new track titled “Erica’s House.”

Posted to Soundcloud under the name of his alter ego Larry Fisherman, “Erica’s House” is a lo-fi track that is big on wordplay and minimal on production. Miller opens with a few spoken lines about life and being frustrated with people who confuse him with Macklemore, then uses the verses to display his latest tongue-twisting lines on existence and pop culture. He touches on where life has taken …

Mac Miller Live From Space

STREAM: Mac Miller – “Earth” (Feat. Future)

Things get a little laid back on Mac Miller‘s collaboration with Atlanta’s Future. Earth is the latest track from Live From Space to hit the net, and it kills. The album will be composed of five songs that didn’t make the cut on Mac’s last album, Watching Movies With the Sound Off, and nine live tracks recorded from The Space Migration Tour, which took place earlier this year.

For those who think this is just another feeble attempt to make some last-minute sales before 2013 ends, it’s not. Miller performed the entire tour while backed by The Internet

Michael Giegerich’s ‘Best of 2013′ In Music

I could preface my list of personal favorite records from 2013 with a stereotypical tangent concerning how difficult it was to handpick each choice, but that would be a completely boldfaced lie. Throughout the year, each one of these albums stood out to me as soon as they emerged from my headphones and latched onto my mind for the weeks and months that followed. That’s not to say there weren’t any surprises within my audio experiences, as a certain Pittsburgh rapper who wasn’t even on my musical radar ended up blowing me away while an old favorite managed to reach …

Miller additionally spent much of October in Europe, touring extensively with fellow rappers Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, and also found time to …

Action Bronson Releases ‘Blue Chips 2′ Trailer

Action Bronson’s sixteen track collaboration with producer Party Supplies, Blue Chips, was an absolute monster of a mixtape that dominated certain Under The Gun staffers’ listening sessions around its debut back in early 2012, so the anticipation surrounding the New York rapper’s forthcoming Blue Chips 2 has reached new heights as Bronson has released a fantastic trailer in anticipation of the free album’s release. Finding Bronson playing the role of an apparently powerful gangster, the clip shows the story behind Patrick Ewing missing a crucial shot in Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals in 1995 as Bronson coerces …
