I Am The Avalanche - 'Wolverines'

UTG TV EXCLUSIVE: I Am The Avalanche In-Store Part 1: ‘Wolverines’

Last week, our buddies in I Am The Avalanche dropped their third album worldwide. Wolverines is the highly anticipated follow-up to the band’s 2011 release, Avalanche United.

One week prior to release, the band streamed the album in its entirety through Billboard. By the time Looney Tunes CDs hosted IATA’s in-store appearance, most fans already knew the words to all of the new songs. Conveniently scheduled on St. Patrick’s Day, vocalist Vinnie Caruana let the crowd feel his excitement to perform the new songs for the first time ever while also encouraging any of those celebrating the holiday to …

Watch Billy Joel and Jimmy Fallon Perform Together on ‘The Tonight Show’

It’s no secret that Jimmy Fallon books incredible acts for his show. He’s hung out with Springsteen, joked with Vedder, and had the President of the United States slow jam the news. But once again, Fallon became the giddy fan he is inside, this time for Billy Joel.

Joel performed “You May Be Right” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where part-way through Fallon joined in with a James Brown impression. Look out for some forward singing, dancing, and sax playing. During the interview, Fallon and Joel sang The Lion King theme song as a two-man doo-wop group with …

Flogging Molly at Roseland Ballroom

UTG PHOTOS: Flogging Molly (2/27/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Derek Scancarelli, to Roseland Ballroom in New York City to photograph Flogging Molly on February 27, 2014.

In 2004, Flogging Molly released Within A Mile Of Home. I was 13 years old and I bought the 12” record at the mall. It was one of my early new vinyl purchases. Shortly after, I purchased their previous record Drunken Lullabies (2002) on a picture disc. A decade has since gone by and I’ve finally had the chance to see the band perform. From what I can remember, many of the band’s tours were sponsored by …

Shaggy at Brooklyn Bowl (D. SKANK PHOTOGRAPHY)

UTG PHOTOS: Shaggy (2/25/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Derek Scancarelli, to Brooklyn Bowl in New York to photograph Shaggy on February 25, 2014.

On February 25, Brooklyn Bowl hosted an epic concert to a sold-out crowd. The venue, which has a capacity of 600, has hosted quite a few packed shows. From the Bouncing Souls to Action Bronson, I’ve had a blast every time I’ve been there. This show, in particular was fantastic. Well, if we want to get technical, it was boombastic. Yes, I went there.

Shaggy took stage in Brooklyn to a venue that features a bowling alley and some …

Miley Cyrus Wayne Coyne Live

Watch The Flaming Lips and Miley Cyrus Play “Yoshimi” Together and Get Hit With Bras

A few days ago The Flaming Lips joined Miley Cyrus onstage in Los Angeles. Thursday night they reunited again, this time at the Tulsa stop of her Bangerz tour to perform “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (Part 1)” together.

According to the Future Heart, they played the song back-to-back while Wayne Coyne held balloons that spelled out “FUCK YEAH TULSA” and fans threw bras at them. Apparently during the second take that night, Cyrus wore a hot dog costume that, somehow, managed to be thrown onstage. What a classic concert experience.

Watch the fan footage below, and sigh knowing some …

These recordings would otherwise never see the light of day, and a lot of the time never even make their way to the public once released, but this morning one track found its way to the UTG inbox that we could not resist sharing with all of you.

“Drive All Night” is arguably the biggest song NEEDTOBREATHE have released to date, but …

Scott Ian at BB Kings

UTG PHOTOS & REVIEW: Scott Ian’s ‘Speaking Words’ Tour (3/5/14)

Ladies and gentlemen, UTG can now double-confirm that Scott Ian is a very well-spoken, hilarious, and brutally honest man. If you were able to catch our interview with him a little while back, you probably chuckled at some of that charisma while perusing our conversation with him.

When his first ever US spoken word tour came through B.B. King’s in New York City, we were able to check out the show and catch up with Ian afterwards. It was certainly interesting seeing the shredder from Anthrax take stage in a blues club, much less without any other musicians and only …

Five years is a long time to leave between albums, but with the finishing touches finally being applied to Pink Lemonade, the long-awaited follow-up to Closure in Moscow’s critically acclaimed 2009 debut full-length First Temple, the band graced the stage of their hometown of Melbourne, Australia on Monday night to play a free show that served as both a reward for their fans’ patience, and an opportunity to showcase the songs that will make up Pink Lemonade.

Arriving on-stage to a rapturous response, Closure In Moscow wasted little time capturing the audience’s attention as they launched head-first …

Hopsin at Irving Plaza (D. SKANK PHOTOGRAPHY)

UTG PHOTOS: Hopsin (2/22/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Derek Scancarelli, to photograph Hopsin at Irving Plaza in New York City on February 22, 2014.

Hopsin, Hopsin, Hopsin. I’ve seen a lot of crazy stuff go down at Irving Plaza. It’s one of those iconic New York City venues that although it doesn’t have the highest capacity still manages to book big names. I’ve seen Wiz Khalifa there for $10. I’ve seen the likes of Rise Against, Story of the Year, From First To Last, and countless more command that room. Hell, my father even saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers there once. The …

The Oscars

2014 Oscar Results (Updating Live)

It’s that time of the year again; the Academy Awards. Thousands of people descend upon Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre to watch actors, actresses, directors and writers win a little golden statue.

This is the second time Ellen DeGeneres has had the opportunity to host the Oscars. She hosted the 79th Academy Awards and was the very first openly gay/lesbian person to host. She’s back for a second go around, and we are expecting plenty of laughs.

There is some tight competition this year. With heavy hitters like 12 Years A Slave, Dallas Buyers Club and Gravity, it’s hard to …
