MILLENNIALS BEWARE: Put Your Cell Phone Away At Shows Or KEN mode Will Destroy It

In an age where an unquantifiable amount of information is right at the user’s fingertips, all KEN mode wants is for you to put the phone away while they are on stage. This is not an outlandish proposition from the Canadian noise band. It even, dare I say, makes sense?

In a recent Facebook post, the band stated if you are texting during their set be prepared to be “bathed in quite directed mucous or have your phone kicked from your hands by a man with a guitar or bass in his hands.” Again, not an outlandish proposition. Countless artists …

Lauryn Hill Is Doing A Show In Brooklyn, Then Going To Jail

Lauryn Hill has some strange career moves. The singer deliberately signed to Sony and released a single in an effort to make money to pay off debt and stay out of jail. She paid it off, but she is going to jail anyway.

Hill is slated to go to prison on July 8, so what is she doing with her final month? Doing one live show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York. Tickets went on sale today; they are available here for a hefty price. According to her Twitter, the reason she’s doing a …

Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players Members Announced

Dave Grohl has let the cat out of the bag on his one-off supergroup, and the lineup is jam packed with stars. It unsurprisingly includes, according to NME, members of the Foo Fighters (Dave himself, drummer Taylor Hawkins, guitarist Chris Shiflett, and bassist and Sunny Day Real Estate member Nate Mendel), Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, CCR frontman John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks, and former Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Alan Johannes, among others. Judging by how there are multiple singers, multiple drummers, and multiple bassists, I would guess that the lineup will …

LIVE REVIEW: Gwar – Toad’s Place, New Haven, Connecticut 10/15/2012

There are generally two kinds of live shows I go to: shows where you see some bands that you put on a pedestal; you worship them wherever they go and you have to know everything they do, they swallow you whole and devour your soul. Your taste curbs to their output, even when it shames you. Live shows from bands like that can be heartbreaking, as if they don’t deliver, then what is there left? They also have the potential to be those weird, transcendental experiences that feel like holy moments in life, connecting with people in a way you …

Jack White Upsets Fans With Short Setlist In New York City

Last night at Radio City Music Hall, Jack White played an incredibly shortened show. The average performance on his Blunderbuss tour is 20 songs long, but last night, his set was only 12 songs. Many fans hung out after the show, chanting “Fuck Jack White!” and attempting to return merchandise they purchased.

Several places are reporting that Jack White was calm and in a normal mood before the show. Something must have set him off, with Jack saying “Jesus Christ, is this an NPR Convention?” and supposedly having a disagreement with a shirtless man in the …
