UTG PHOTOS: Sleater-Kinney Make Their Triumphant Return (2/8/15)

In 2006, Sleater-Kinney, a well-known indie/alt rock band based out of Olympia, WA called it quits. The band had a huge following, and were one of the pioneers of shaping the roots of indie rock. Maybe most importantly, they never signed to a major label, even though many begged them to do so.

However, the three members stayed busy throughout the years. Carrie Brownstein went on to form the band Wild Flag, and also co-created a little known comedy series on IFC. Corin Tucker went on to collaborate with Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder on the Into The

UTG PHOTOS: Arcade Fire Dazzle The Gorge Amphitheater (8/814)

In what had to be seen to be believed, Arcade Fire performed at the legendary Gorge Amphitheater in George, WA on August 8. The Gorge, which sits near the Columbia River, is one of the premier concert venues in the Pacific Northwest, and what better way to breathe even more life into its structure than to host one of the biggest indie rock bands in the world?

However, Arcade Fire had one requirement for their fans who were in attendance: be dressed to the nines in semi-formal attire, and dance their asses off! Seeing this at The Gorge was interesting …

UTG PHOTOS: EELS Serenade The Moore in Seattle (6/7/14)

Under the Gun Review sent photographer Xander Deccio to The Moore in Seattle, WA on June 7, 2014.

When it comes to EELS, only one thing comes to mind: their 1996 hit “Novocaine For The Soul.”

While it was played frequently on MTV in the mid ’90s, and was a staple in many mixtapes–yes, we made mixtapes–as there were no iPods and mix CDs were expensive to make as most home computers were not equipped with burners, and the MP3 format wasn’t introduced publicly until 1997, with Napster hitting the interwebs two years later. Unfortunately, as with such …

UTG PHOTOS: Pennywise Tear Up Seattle’s Showbox (4/29/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Xander Deccio, to The Showbox in Seattle, WA to photograph punk favorites Pennywise on April 29, 2014.

In what could be described as pure mayhem, legendary SoCal punk group Pennywise made their grand triumphant return to Seattle’s Showbox. The band is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary together, and also marking the return of vocalist Jim Lindberg to the group.

A few years ago, Lindberg decided to leave the band to perform with his side project The Black Pacific, as he felt that he had nothing left to contribute to Pennywise. Instead of calling it …

UTG TV: T.R.A.M. Live

Sometimes things around the site get a little out of hand and features get left behind when they really deserve to be posted. Today’s UTG TV, as well as the other “vault” features we will be releasing in coming weeks, is that kind of article. Shot last year during their first performance ever, UTG TV is proud to present two 1080p recordings of T.R.A.M.

There really are no words to define the sound of Sumerian Records’ T.R.A.M., but “groundbreaking” and “artistic” would not be far off. Comprised of Adrian Terrazas (The Mars Volta) on saxophone, flute, bass clarinet and percussion, …
