UTG CRUSH: Stream Lana Del Rey’s Leaked Single “Queen Of Disaster”

Forget about TGIF. Today at UTG HQ we’re screaming T-G-F-L-D-R (Thank God For Lana Del Rey).

Just weeks after she made us weak in the knees with her heartbreaking Great Gatsby contribution “Young And Beautiful,” a new single from Lana Del Rey entitled “Queen Of Disaster” has found it way online. Spoiler alert: It’s fantastic.

Inspired by Summer and the most timeless 60s pop, “Queen Of Disaster” is a dizzying ode to young love and the trouble it finds. Lana’s angelic vocals soar perfectly over a sock hop ready drum beat and swirling strings that are a disco ball shy …

The Wonder Years Release Statement On The Greatest Generation

Albums leak. This is a brutal truth of the music industry. Fans download those albums, most of whom are unaware of the repercussions this causes for the artist they are stealing from.

The Wonder Years began streaming their monumental new record, The Greatest Generation, last night and released a moving statement to follow. The post evaluates the value of $10 and how so little money can go so far to help an artist. Follow the jump to read the piece, and if you are really inspired, The Greatest Generation drops online and in stores May 14.

STREAM: Daft Punk – “Get Lucky” Feat. Pharrell

Daft Punk have been doing an excellent job at teasing their long-awaited new album, Random Access Memories, for quite some time now. Today, the full version of their song, “Get Lucky,” finally surfaced. The track features Pharrell Williams on vocals, and legendary producer and guitarist, Nile Rodgers.

Snippets of the song first appeared in a commercial, which aired during SNL late last month. Over the weekend, the robot duo struck again and surprised Coachella attendees with a minute long preview of their new music video containing both Pharrell, and Niles Rodgers on guitar. In addition, the same trailer was …

Daylight Release ‘Jar’ Three Weeks Early To Help Battle Piracy

Daylight and Run For Cover Records have made the band’s new album, Jar, available digitally three weeks ahead of the original release date in an effort to combat piracy.

Released along with a message from the label, Jar has been one of the more anticipated RFC releases of the year. Early praise for the album has been deafening, but it seems a member of the press NOT ASSOCIATED WITH UTG leaked a low quality rip of the album and now the band and label are scrambling to minimize the amount who first experience the album via leak. You can …

STREAM: Wavves’ new album, ‘Afraid Of Heights’

One week before its official release, NPR is kind enough to give everyone an early listen of Wavves’ new album, Afraid of Heights.

In an interview with SPIN back in January, frontman Nathan Williams commented on his progression as an artist and how it affected their new album:

“I feel like I was a real cocky motherfucker when I first started doing this,” Nathan Williams says of his Wavves project. “I really believed I was the shit. Now, not so much, but as a songwriter, I think I’m better. You know the tone of [2010's] King of the Beach …

POSSIBLE BS: New Daft Punk Song “Dancing To The Beat” “Leaks” Online

Remember what we said about overly enthusiastic people pouncing on possibly counterfeit Daft Punk tunes? Well here we go again.

Idolator is reporting via Pink Is The New Blog that one of the tracks from Daft Punk’s upcoming album for Columbia leaked online a few days ago. Apparently titled “Dancing To The Beat”, it sounds a hell of a lot like that snippet that played during the Saturday Night Live commercial last week. Maybe that clip was a sample that was sped up for the final mix of “Dancing To The Beat”? It’s possible.

That’s not the only reason to …

Bring Me The Horizon Tease “Exciting” News For Next Week

Just in case you were unaware, Bring Me The Horizon‘s highly anticipated upcoming album Sempiternal leaked yesterday. I’m sure it’s not a secret that could have been kept for very long, and BMTH were sure to find out. They tweeted today some news that might lead some of us to believe (me, at the very least) that they could be officially releasing the album a little early. Take a look below the jump to see what the band had to say. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that update they’re teasing us with!

The band is currently …

Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean Grammy Rehearsal Video and an Unreleased Song Called “Eyes Like Sky”?

Frank Ocean had an interesting night at the Grammy Awards this month. While the R&B singer took home several awards, he also walked away with a not-so-hot performance of “Forrest Gump.”

The artist claims that his ear piece was not functioning correctly and that led him to being slightly off-key. We, of course, have to take that with a grain of salt. However, all of his television performances thus far have been on-point, so there’s likely some truth to that.

Regardless of how he performed on stage that night, Frank Ocean proves time and time again that theatrics and pyrotechnics …

MUSIC VIDEO: Rihanna – “Stay”

Music videos rarely leak, but apparently such is the case with the latest visual from Rihanna.

After performing a rather subdued live rendition at the GRAMMYS, Rihanna is keeping the promotional train for her ballad “Stay” alive and well with release of the track’s official video. We’re not sure when the clip was originally meant to debut, but we have the clip and are streaming it here on UTG for your enjoyment.

Directed by Sophie Muller, “Stay” allows viewers to get up close and personal with a believably emotional Rihanna while she sits naked and wet in a bathtub filled …

STREAM: Chief Keef – “Spread Da Word”

Just when you thought he was done for the day, Chief Keef returns through his YouTube with yet another new song. “Spread Da Word” pairs Keef with fast-rising producer Young Chop for another round of trunk-rattling, ignorant hip hop on steroids, and the results are on par with everything this superstar duo has release to date (but it’s still far from comparing to “Love Sosa”). You can stream the track after the jump.

Chief Keef has been posting songs like crazy today, so please be patient if you see him flooding our feed. I’m sure things will die down …
