Dr. Dre’s Beats Electronic Is Bringing Suit Against Yamaha For Infringing Headphone Design

AllHipHop.com reports that Dr. Dre is suing electronics company Yamaha for alleged infringement on the producer’s now-iconic Beats By Dre headphones.

Legal representatives of the rapper-cum-businessman are seeking at least $75,000 in damages for Trade Dress Infringement, Unfair Competition and Patent Infringement. The lawsuit argues that Yamaha’s PRO line of headphones heavily borrows design elements from Dre’s near-ubiquitous over the ear Beats.

We have more details on this story after the jump.

Future Releases “Karate Chop” Remix; Faces Second Paternity Suit of 2013

Everyone faces ups and downs in life, but for Future they seem to be happening at the same time.

Future kicked off this weekend with the release of his new remix for “Karate Chop.” The original did almost nothing for us, but the addition of Young Money CEO Lil Wayne to the redux adds just enough spice to raise the mediocre song to a level of tolerable that should be good enough to warrant a few spins at major market radio stations. It’s nothing you’ll remember at the end of the year, but anyone looking for something catchy to listen …

Lil Wayne Facing Lawsuit Over Skateboard Beat Down

LA Weekly is reporting that Lil Wayne is back in the tabloids and facing charges for his alleged assault of Los Angeles promoter Alfred Marino. Marino explains that he was just trying to get a picture of the rapper in May (2012) when one of his crew became irate and struck him in the head with a skateboard.

Alfred Marino told sources, “[His bodyguards] started tripping and saying, ‘I told you that Lil Wayne does not want to be bothered.’ I told them I have taken pictures of tons of people and I just want to show my friends that

Middle School Student Sues Chief Keef For Child Support

A female student in Illinois is suing Chicago-based rapper Chief Keef, real name Keith Cozart, over allegations the seventeen-year-old fathered a child with her two years ago and has yet to pay child support.

The girl, who is currently attending middle school in the Chicago area, claims Keef is the father of her two-year-old son, and that she and Keef were together when the rapper was fifteen. The age of the girl has not been released, but being a middle school student tells us the girl could have been in sixth grade or at most eighth grade at the time …

EDITORIAL: The Curious Case Of Rick Ross Vs. Rick Ross

Identity is everything in music, and that goes double for urban artists. The way fans envision your day-to-day life directly correlates with whether or not they will believe the lines you deliver in songs, and some times that need to look “real” leads artists to lie through their teeth. Those needing proof of this need look no further than the story of Rick Ross, or should I say William Leonard Roberts II, and his current legal entanglement with one of the biggest drug traffickers in United States history.

Rick Ross burst onto the music scene in 2006 with his debut …

EDITORIAL: What The Hell Is Going On With Katt Williams?

I have spent the past week attempting to begin the following article, but the subject at hand hasn’t slowed down long enough for me to gather all the facts. It’s almost funny how in a time when everyone is more obsessed with celebrity than ever that the following story hasn’t been hitting headlines with the intensity of most trainwrecks, but it has become evident that Katt Williams is either in trouble or in need of help, possibly both, and it’s lead to some of the most bizarre incidents in recent memory.

Unless you pay close attention to direct-to-dvd comedy releases …

Lil Wayne Loses Lawsuit Over ‘The Carter’ Documentary

TMZ is reporting that rapper Lil Wayne has lost his lawsuit against Quincy Jones over the 2009 documentary, The Carter. Wayne had originally sued Jones because of the way the film portrayed the artist, but the jury decided otherwise. Even worse, Wayne also lost a counter-suit from Jones and has been ordered to pay him $2,195,000. Quincy’s countersuit alleged Lil Wayne wrongfully blocked the release of the film, thus ruining its profit potential.

This story would have broken a week ago, but the court dates fell around the same time Wayne suffered multiple seizure-like episodes while flying. As a …

Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City Sued Over “Good Time”

If you’re reading this post and have yet to suffer through the Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City’s single “Good Time,” consider yourself lucky. Released in August, this one song has single-handedly drilled its way so far into my subconscious that the meer utterance of “whoa-oh” from a passerby sends my whole body into a Top40-induced convulsions that mimic demonic possession.

Anyways, an aspiring songstress named Allyson Nichole Burnett claims the popular song rips off her 2010 single, “Ah, It’s a Love Song.” We’ve listened to the tracks and cannot say we hear the similarities, but perhaps our readers will …

Wu Tang Clan Members Accused of Illegal Sampling

A report has surfaced that names Wu Tung Clan members Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Method Man and RZA as defendants in a suit accusing them of illegal sampling. The accuser is Bridgeport Music and Westbound Records.

The track in question is “New Wu” from ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II, a Raekwon solo album released in 2009. It is accused of a 12-second or four measure cut “I’ve Changed” by the Magictones. The Raekwon track also features a verse by Ghostface and Method Man, while RZA produced it. This is why other Wu Tang members GZA, Inspectah Deck, U-God, …

Insane Clown Posse Sue The FBI (Seriously)

I have been sitting at my desk all day waiting for something, anything to rise from the Twitterverse about the events at the 13th Annual Gathering Of The Juggalos (no shame), but I never expected this to be the result:

Insane Clown Posse have announced they are pursuing legal action against The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s after the FBI’s National Gang Intelligence Center’s 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment report classified the hiphop act’s fans as “gang members.” This is not a joke.

Speaking to a gather (no pun intended) of 1500 fans on festival grounds earlier today, ICP’s Violent J …
