The Curious Tale Of ICP, Kid Rock, And A Mysterious Glass Dildo

UTG was launched from a small dorm room in the upper half of Michigan’s lower peninsula. From day one people have asked us to cover Kid Rock and ICP because we share an origin state, but other than a few major headlines neither artist has been given that much time on our front page…until now.

A news story making its way around the interwebs this morning caught us so off guard that I felt we had no choice except to run the story ourselves. Several months ago, Andrea Pellegrini, a former publicist for the Insane Clown Posse, sued the famous …

Conor Oberst’s Rape Accuser Retracts Statement

Another week, another story of the internet using half-truths in place of hard facts.

Joanie Faircloth, who allegedly was sexually assaulted by Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst, came out today and retracted her statement, saying that she made her entire story up for attention. In a notarized letter from her lawyer, the statement goes on to explain the following:

The statements I made and repeated online and elsewhere over the past six months accusing Conor Oberst of raping me are 100 percent false. I made up those lies about him to get attention while I was going through a difficult

Glenn Danzig

Glenn Danzig Suing Former Bandmate Over Misfits Merch

If you are a fan of the old school punk band known as The Misfits, then there’s a chance you know who Glenn Danzig is. Just in case you don’t, here’s a quick rundown.

The band formed in 1977, and Danzig fronted them from 1977 to 1983. Jerry Only (Gerald Caiafa) is also an original member of the group, except he’s still in it. Danzig is reportedly suing Caiafa due to him signing merch deals with various outlets, including Hot Topic specifically, and intentionally cutting Danzig out of any royalties he deserved. Danzig is also claiming Caiafa violated a …

Conor Oberst Files Defamation Lawsuit Over Rape Allegations

Bright EyesConor Oberst has filed a new defamation lawsuit against a woman who claimed she was raped by the singer when she was sixteen years old.

In December 2013, a then-anonymous XOJane commenter responded to an article on the website detailing what it was like to date an abusive rock star, writing: “I was raped by a ‘rock star’ myself. I was 16 years old, he was in his 20s. No one believed me (he wasn’t even that famous then).”

The commenter later confirmed the musician at the center of her allegation was Conor Oberst. She then alleged …

Co-Founder Of Emmure Calls Band & Label Out, Threatens Lawsuits

Yesterday, Emmure announced the details for their upcoming full-length album, Eternal Enemies. The group has come under fire in the past for releasing offensive merchandise, and now they are receiving criticism for one of the song titles on the new album. This time though, the band has offended their ex-founding member, Ben Lionetti. It seems that he could no longer keep to himself about the direction the band is heading, and released a statement calling out the band and threatening legal action against them and Victory. It’s not apparent right away why he would seek litigation, however, he does …

Prince Drops $22 Million Lawsuit Against Bootleggers

Bootlegging, or the act of filming and sharing videos shot at live music performances, is one form of piracy that is often overlooked by many, but one which still carries with it harsh consequences.

Several days ago, 22 Prince fans found this out the hard way when the music megastar decided to sue each of them for $1 million for the illegal distribution of his live performances. Earlier today, sources confirmed that Prince has since dropped the suit initially filed with the Northern District of California not even two weeks ago.

According to the musician’s lawyer, “the bootleggers have now …

Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino Suing Gawker For Sharing Leaked ‘Hateful Eight’ Script

Do not mess with a creative man scorned by piracy.

The Hollywood Reporter is running a story this morning that claims filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is suing Gawker after the news and entertainment website posted his leaked Hateful Eight script without his permission.

Last week, Quentin Tarantino made headlines worldwide after revealing to Deadline he would not be making The Hateful Eight as his next film. The title had been rumored to be Tarantino’s next project for a while, but the Pulp Fiction filmmaker changed his mind after an early version of the script began circulating throughout Hollywood without his consent. …

Prince Suing Bootleggers For $22 Million

Bootlegging nowadays is incredibly easy to do. You just need a decent camera and a steady hand, and you’re good to go. Most people don’t think twice about sharing videos shot at a live music performance, but it’s something that can still get you into a lot of trouble. While a lot of artists have taken alternative actions to fight against bootlegging, Prince has decided that he will just sue a number of offenders. Twenty-two offenders to be exact. For $1 million each. Yes, that’s $22 million total.

According to documents that have been released on the complaint, the only …

The FBI Has Arrested IsAnyoneUp? Founder Hunter Moore

Remember Hunter Moore? Not long ago he was the king of IsAnyoneUp?, the revenge porn site that made international headlines after a series of complaints that several images hosted on the outlet were stolen (as opposed to being submitted). Well, he’s now in FBI custody.

According to a new report on Gawker, both Moore and alleged internet hacker Charles Evens were brought into custody by the FBI earlier today (January 23). Both men are being charged in a 15-count indictment unsealed after they were arrested this morning. The indictment charges both men with conspiracy, seven counts of unauthorized …

ICP Suing FBI For Labeling Their Fans As A “Gang”

Whether you are a fan of Insane Clown Posse or not, you may know about the report that the FBI’s National Gang Intelligence Center published back in 2011 labeling Juggalos as a “loosely organized hybrid gang.” Shortly after, the hip hop duo responded by threatening to take legal action against the FBI and Justice Department for discrimination. Now it looks as though they are officially moving forward with the lawsuit, and New York Times has some insight into what’s going on.

The lawsuit lists the two members of ICP as well as four Juggalos as plaintiffs. The four additional plaintiffs …

Amy Lee

Evanescence Singer Suing Wind Up Records For Mismanagement

There are bands who were there for you during certain periods of your life. Break ups, high school, marriage, divorce, etc. For me, it was high school, and that band was Evanescence. They’ve been off the mainstream radar for a while, but now it seems that they’re making headlines again. Not with a new album though – instead, according to TMZ, Amy Lee is suing the band’s label, Wind Up Records. This isn’t the first lawsuit Lee has engaged in, and this time she’s claiming that the label intentionally screwed them over by giving them “idiot” promoters. She also …

Rick Ross

Rick Ross Is Suing LMFAO

Don’t mess with the boss.

Maybach Music Group CEO Rick Ross is reportedly suing LMFAO over a sample found in their hit song, “Party Rock Anthem.” The rapper believes the pop group’s use of the phrase “Everyday I’m shuffling” contravenes his 2006 track ‘Hustilin”, which features the line “Everyday I’m shufflin’.” The Hollywood Reporter states that Ross, along with Jermaine Jackson, has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the Los Angeles-based electropop duo of Stefan Kendal Gordy (Redfoo) and Skyler Austen Gordy (SkyBlu).

According to a lawsuit filed in Florida federal court, “The use of ‘Hustlin’ in ‘Party Rock Anthem’ …
