Legendary New Jersey Venue Maxwell’s To Close In July

A true rock institution is set to close at the end of July, and the decision is not what anyone had planned.

According to a new article on NJ.Com, the lease to Maxwell’s will be completed at the end of July. Todd Abramson, the club’s booking agent and co-owner, explained the tough decision to close by explaining the terms offered to the club for lease renewal would have put the business in a tough place.

“We were offered a renewal with rates that weren’t necessarily onerous,” says Abramson, “But after much thought, given the changing nature of Hoboken and …

WATCH: Underoath Perform “Reinventing Your Exit” With Aaron Gillespie At Their Farewell Show

The world said farewell to Underoath last night, but not before the band revealed a few last minute surprises.

In the midst of their final performance ever, Underoath stopped the music momentarily to welcome former drummer Aaron Gillespie onto the stage. Gillespsie left the band a few years back, but was one of the early members that helped the band develop their signature sound. WATCH: Jack’s Mannequin Perform “La La Lie” To Close Their Final Show

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably well aware that pop rock favorite Andrew McMahon’s side project turned full time musical force, Jack’s Mannequin, recently came to a close with a series of performances in California. I know some of you made the trek to out West to share in the occasion, but the majority of us were left to cry ourselves to sleep while listening to Glass Passenger b-sides for the hundredth time. So, in hopes of bringing the final farewell to everyone, we came across a clip of the final song from the final performance and …

Refused Announce Last Gig Ever.

When punk band Refused first got back together, no one could have expected the reunion would last. Other than the fact that after their demise they made a documentary on the turmoil that made them break up with the appropriate name of Refused Are Fucking Dead, the band’s whole belief was strongly anti-capitalism – so the whole idea of getting back for money didn’t seem to apply the way it does for the rest of reunited groups (At The Drive In, I’m looking at you).

We’ve known for sometime that this year would be it, to the …

Footage Of What Could Be Sonic Youth’s Final Show Ever

Sonic Youth may have very well performed live for the final time last night. Don’t worry, we have the footage.

Taking into consideration Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon’s recent separation, the future of Sonic Youth has been unknown for months. Last night’s show at the SWU Music and Arts Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil was the last on their website and no statement about future plans have been announced or revealed. You can view video from the show of the band performing “Death Valley ’69″ after the jump.

UTG has just received an email from Valencia announcing that they will be splitting up in the near future.

In a letter to fans, the band wrote:

Valencia originally came together back in 2003. Most of us were still just in high school, but we all had gotten to know each other through the tightly knit music community we grew up in around Philadelphia. We started this band because of a mutual need to create something heartfelt and to give everyone a message we needed to share. We all felt like music would be the most significant part of

Sky Eats Airplane confirm break up

Skye Eats Airplane have confirmed long-standing rumors of their break up. A statement from Zack Ordway can be read below. We wish the now former members the best in all their future endeavors.

SEA has endured a lot, from business problems to lineup changes to internal problems with specific members. I personally feel that the band was neglected by its label and management, which really kept the band from moving forward. But what really broke our spirits was the addition of SEA’s latest frontman Bryan Zimmerman.

I will admit we came to our decision on Bryan in a hasty manner
