Topshelf Records Puts Entire Catalog Up For Free Download Via Bandcamp

Topshelf Records, in a move equal parts crazy, generous, and crazy generous, has arranged to have their entire catalog available for free download via Bandcamp.

Everything. New stuff like the Pianos Become The Teeth/Touché Amoré Split and the You Blew It!/Fake Problems Split. The tops of the twinkle daddy heap like Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate), and My Heart To Joy. There’s even this band in there named Toe that I’m not familiar with. But I’m sure Toe is awesome because Topshelf is a rad, rad label. And you can check them out for free, …

Capture The Crown Sign With Sumerian Records; Release Music Video

For a handful of moments I considered titling this piece something along the lines of, “Obvious Signing Is Obvious,” but felt the irony may be lost on some.

Sumerian Records essentially announced their plan to head straight for the bank in 2013 earlier today by signing the insanely popular metalcore act Capture The Crown. The band, who are probably most well known for their viral music video “You Call This A Knife? This Is A Knife!,” will release their debut album Til Death on December 18.

To mark the occasion, not to mention introduce the band to those …

Streetlight Manifesto Ask Fans To Boycott Victory Records

Ska punk band Streetlight Manifesto recently made a rather bizarre request from their fans. The ska outfit have asked that their fans boycott the band’s label, Victory Records, and not buy any merch from the company. The band have requested that fans instead buy any merchandise from the band directly rather than from the company that Streetlight wishes to disassociate themselves from.

Streetlight Manifesto are not the only Victory band that has spoken out against the label. Recently label heavyweights, A Day To Remember, had their lawsuit against the record company become public, stirring up even more Victory Records controversy. …

Anchor and Braille Recording New Record

Things are moving right along for Anberlin side-project, Anchor and Braille. Singer Stephen Christian conveyed via Twitter today that recording a new record was underway and that the project had been signed to a label.  Recording will occur in Nashville, TN.

The new album will feature a few musicians playing different instruments. John Bucklew (States, Copeland) will appear playing drums and Micah Tawlks, with whom he co-wrote several A&B songs, on guitar. It appears that Aaron March (Copeland) is not involved in the production of this record.

As of now, the project’s new label is unknown, but will be announced …

Drake Addresses “Leaving Young Money” Rumors

Drake has found more success from his latest releases than even we expected and as a result, the rumor mill is alive and well.

Earlier this week, rumors began circulating online that Drizzy Drake was considering leaving his family at Young Money in search of a bigger, better deal. This is (of course) untrue, but rumors have persisted to the point that Aubrey felt the need to speak out.

While on stage in Toronto, Drake proclaimed “If you ever wake up and think Young Money ain’t my team, you out your mind. My brother Lil Wayne is all the way …

Freddie Gibbs signed to Young Jeezy’s label

Freddie Gibbs announced, at his latest show in Chicago, that he has signed a deal to Young Jeezy‘s label called Corporate Thugz Entertainment (CTE). Here’s what Gibbs had to say regarding his signing experience:

I just made the right decision and went with a gut feeling instead of just going off of impulse or signing with somebody because they’re hot. I ain’t wanna be a dick rider. I see a lot of that in the game, and I just wanted to do things my way.

Forgive Durden dropped off FBR?

Forgive Durden‘s band name has been taken off of the Fueled By Ramen website. This could possibly mean the band has been taken off of the label. Thomas Dutton, the only remaining member for Forgive Durden, has not released any new music since Razia’s Shadow back in Fall 2008.
