UTG PHOTOS: G-Eazy & Rockie Fresh (3/27/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Kellie Gannon, to Irving Plaza in New York City to check out G-Eazy on March 27, 2014.

Having just moved to Brooklyn six short days before shooting G-Eazy at Irving Plaza, I can proudly announce that I am officially a brand-spanking-new New Yorker! I was more than excited to get a New York City show under my belt to compare how different it really was shooting in the Big Apple versus venues in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Toledo, Columbus, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, and any other city I’ve had the opportunity to shoot shows in previously. Typically, …

UTG PHOTOS: We Butter The Bread With Butter (2/16/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Kellie Gannon, to photograph We Butter The Bread With Butter at St. Andrews in Detroit on February 16, 2014.

We Butter The Bread With Butter. Say that five times fast, I dare you. For starters, this band is my wild card pick for band to watch in 2014. As a fan of many genres, I’m always looking for new tunes and bands with a unique sound and when I started YouTube-ing around for this band’s previous work, I stumbled upon their extensive appearances at European festivals and tours and was instantly impressed. Don’t judge …

UTG PHOTOS: Tegan and Sara (2/7/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Kellie Gannon, to photograph Tegan and Sara at the Masonic Auditorium in Cleveland on February 7, 2014.

I have to admit, I’ve had a girl crush on Tegan and Sara ever since I first heard “Walking With A Ghost” a decade ago. This killer track, from 2004′s So Jealous, ended up on countless mix CDs I made that coincided with my new driver’s license and newfound freedom to cruise around and blast whatever tunes I wanted.  That was ten years ago — fast forward to now and I was more than psyched …

UTG LIST: The Essential Anti-Love Songs For Valentine’s Day

I have a friend; she loves Valentine’s Day. At the beginning of each year, she spends her days playfully trying to pinpoint just how her stupendously awesome boyfriend will woo her come February 14. She fawns over flowers, swoons over candy, and gets off on public, often cheesy displays of affection. She spends hours in front of the mirror, and her dinner reservations have been set for months. And don’t worry guys, social media will be provided with a play-by-play account of her and her man’s evening out.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my friend to death, but the …

UTG LIST: The Essential Love Songs For Valentine’s Day

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, and on top of all that, it is about as ambiguous as a feeling can get. Since the dawn of time, droves of individuals have tried to put this warm fuzzy feeling into words, and despite varying results, it would seem that everyone can agree on two things:

First, the moment you fall in love–like, REAL love–you will know, regardless of your age, outlook, or past. Don’t ask me how it works; you just will.

Second, and more importantly, regardless of your definition, it will be …

UTG PHOTOS: Palisades and Famous Last Words (1/29/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Kellie Gannon, to check out Palisades and Famous Last Words at the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland on January 29, 2014.

It’s been a few months since I’ve attended a show with the intention of shooting photos.  For the first show in too long, I decided to check out Palisades and Famous Last Words headlining the Agora Ballroom on Wednesday, January 29 (when Peabody’s shut down in Cleveland last fall, the crew took over and renovated the Agora Ballroom). Palisades and Famous Last Words are currently co-headlining the ‘Ride or Die Tour’ sponsored by MerchNOW and …

Under The Gun sent Head Of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to House of Blues Cleveland for Three Days Grace on August 11, 2013.

During the very music-filled and crazy busy month of August, I was able to see several incredible and musically diverse shows. One of the shows I had the chance to catch mid-month was Three Days Grace at House of Blues Cleveland on August 11.  Direct support on this tour came from fellow Vegas natives, Otherwise, as well as Trapt.…

Under The Gun sent Head Of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to the Agora in Cleveland August 8 for Silversun Pickups.

Silversun Pickups headlined The Agora in Cleveland recently with direct support from Mona, who are originally Ohio natives. Silversun Pickups are always a joy onstage, both from their intense sound and presence.  I had the pleasure of catching them the last time they came through Cleveland and their set was immaculate. This show was no different!…

UTG PHOTOS: Imagine Dragons With The Neighbourhood (7/30/13)

Under The Gun sent Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to check out Imagine Dragons at Jacobs Pavilion in Cleveland on July 30, 2013.

Every summer, a tour comes through town that surpasses all the rest. Summer is a time for incredible shows available at outdoor venues, offering fans a chance to cherish the warm weather, summer nights, and soundtrack of their favorite bands set amidst dusk in the city. If I had to vote on a breakout tour that exceeded my expectations and was the best of summer 2013, Imagine Dragons with The Neighbourhood would be it.

Imagine Dragons headlined …

Under The Gun sent Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to House of Blues Cleveland for Mac Miller on July 24, 2013.

Mac Miller descended upon Cleveland this week, bringing his version of crazy to a sold out House of Blues on Wednesday, July 24 for his Space Migration Tour. Along with Mac, Chance The Rapper and Earl Sweatshirt graced the stage and got the crowd in full blown hip hop show mode.  What’s the difference between a rock show and a hip hop show at House of Blues? Like night and day on different planets in two different universes.…

UTG sent Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to House of Blues Cleveland for the filming of the final scene of The Sax Man documentary on July 18, 2013.

“It’s really good to be here this evening… it’s really good to be anywhere this evening!” – Maurice Reedus Jr.

Thursday, July 18 after a long day in the sun, heat, and humidity at the Vans Warped Tour stop in Cleveland, I hopped in a cold shower, changed into fresh clothes, grabbed the camera, and made my way down to House of Blues. I’ve been at HOB for easily about a hundred …

OAR with Allen Stone and Andrew McMahon at Jacobs Pavilion July 7, 2013 (photo credit: Kellie Gannon/Under The Gun Review)

Under The Gun sent Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to Jacobs Pavilion in Cleveland for the OAR show July 7, 2013.

This was an interesting show to shoot as it was full of nostalgia and newness at the same time.  I’ve had the opportunity to shoot both Allen Stone and Andrew McMahon (with Jack’s Mannequin) previously, but OAR was a fun first. Another very cool experience was shooting at Jacobs Pavilion for the first time. Jacobs is situated on the West Bank of the Flats in Cleveland with the stage situated right in front of the Cuyahoga River, providing …
