If I Ran The Zoo

STREAM: If I Ran The Zoo – “Timber” (Pitbull & Ke$ha Cover)

If I Ran The Zoo are a four piece metalcore outfit based out of Fargo, North Dakota. The band has been together since 2010, and in that time they’ve released a number of singles, as well as an EP last year. Yesterday they added a new song to their list of singles, but this time it’s a cover of Pitbull’s “Timber,” featuring Ke$ha. You can stream the lyric video they put together for the cover by taking a look below the jump.

If I Ran The Zoo’s rendition of “Timber” is one that’s fun, and simple. The band didn’t try …

STREAM: Alteras – “Timber” (Pitbull Feat. Ke$ha Cover)

Alteras are an upcoming unsigned post hardcore outfit based out of Youngstown, Ohio. The band released a brand new cover yesterday of the hit radio single, “Timber,” by Pitbull and Ke$ha. The cover is available to stream below the jump.

Many post hardcore artists tend to make their covers heavy, but these guys definitely focus on the clean vocals throughout most of the song. I would have personally loved to see them toss in more unclean vocals; that’s what sets these kinds of covers apart from the original.

Ke$ha Directs Her “Dirty Love” Video, Doesn’t Need Iggy Pop

Finally, we have a bit of good news from the Ke$ha camp. After some of her more interesting collaborative projects were unceremoniously torpedoed without explanation, it’s certainly nice to see the star having a bit of fun.

Ke$ha has released a video for “Dirty Love” off her latest album Warrior, one that she has directed herself. You may remember the original version featuring Iggy Pop making a few easy sex jokes. He’s been wholly omitted this time, leaving the formerly facepalm-worthy middle section feeling a bit empty. Ke$ha does her best to fill the empty space with comically torn …

The Flaming Lips, New Fumes, And An Uncredited Ke$ha Cover The Stone Roses

Though one Flaming Lips-led collaborative album may have been tragically torpedoed, another still lives. The Flaming Lips’ LP-length cover of The Stone Roses’ debut album still lives and was released on Black Friday. Record Store Day is so much more than just a single day of shopping now.

The album, titled The Time Has Come To Shoot You Down … What A Sound, features contributions from a number of artists: Poliça, Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado, Spaceface, Peaking Lights, Stardeath and White Dwarfs, New Fumes, Def Rain, and an uncredited Ke$ha. As for why Ke$ha is uncredited and still being …

Wayne Coyne Breaks Our Hearts, Announces Ke$ha Collaboration Is Cancelled

The world suffered a most grievous loss this day. I don’t know what it feels like to have Christmas cancelled, but I can’t imagine it feels much worse than this.

You may remember that a collaborative album from The Flaming Lips and Ke$ha – who had previously come together on Lips album The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends – was announced earlier this year by Wayne Coyne, who bestowed it with the dubious mash-up title Lip$ha. My heart raced in the moment I first read that, for that vortex of weirdness, monstrous choruses, and glitter was everything I wanted …

Ke$ha Ignores Our Pleas, Teams Up With Pitbull Again

Sigh. Back in April, we – and the rest of critical America, typing dutifully at our laptops – panned Ke$ha’s Pitbull-featuring “Crazy Kids” remix. You may remember that single for its accomplishing the truly Olympian feat of being even more ear-unfriendly than the song’s previous, remix. It’s a shame, because most of Ke$ha’s Warrior is far superior to any non-“Die Young” single. That was an album worthy of the title Bangerz.

This partnership continues to blossom; the two toured together and now return with yet another track together. That track is “Timber,” and it sounds exactly what you’d expect …

Drake Added to iHeartRadio Festival

Streaming is taking over the world of music — or maybe it just seems so. Among all of the Spotify, Pandora, and other updates, radio is still thriving and celebrating its success in numerous ways. One of these most famous ways, the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas, will now see Justin Timberlake, Elton John, and Katy Perry joined by Canadian rapper Drake. The festival takes place Sept. 20 & 21 and tickets are available here.

The lineup is pretty large, as you can imagine. Joining those four will be Muse, J. Cole, Chris Brown, Phoenix, Ke$ha, …

Ke$ha Goes From Bad To Worse; Adds Pitbull To “Crazy Kids” Remix

Last week we brought you a stream of Ke$ha’s “Crazy Kids” remix featuring club-rap phenomenon The track was, to put it lightly, panned across the board by critics and fans alike. People love Ke$ha’s care-free brand of music, but the addition of’s referential musical styling was one no one wanted to hear. So what do you do when you superstar-studded remix flops? Simple. Release another version, only this time featuring someone people will [hopefully] want to hear.

The latest remix of “Crazy Kids” hit the net this morning and instead of boasts a new verse from …

MGMT Flesh Out Details Surrounding Their Third Album

Electro indie folk-a-weirdos MGMT, the duo consisting of Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, sat down with Rolling Stone to dish on their upcoming third album.

With a tentative schedule release for sometime this June, the group decided to go back to their roots, ensuring the interviewer that tracks on their third LP will be in line with the catchy, freak funk jams like “Electric Feel” and “Time To Pretend” found on their first album Oracular Spectacular.

Just kidding! After a heapingly divisive slice of weird like Congratulations, do you really think VanWyngarden and Goldwasser are interested in …

MUSIC VIDEO: Ke$ha – “Die Young”

She’s back, and yes, there is plenty of glitter to go around.

Ke$ha, often referred to by many of our staffers as the one hit wonder who got carried away, has released the video for her latest single, “Die Young.” The clip (shockingly?) features the girl who wakes up feeling like P. Diddy and a few leather-clad friends performing cult-like dance rituals in a Spanish church while superimposed shapes and glitter slide in and out of frame. It may sound like Ke$ha 101, but I have to admit it feels a bit more boring than her previous clips. You can …
