Gossip (formerly The Gossip) describe themselves as ‘soul discharge’ on their Facebook page. I’m keeping that description, because it captures their sound perfectly. They’re a striking mixture of classic status and soul beats with pervasive indie pop mentality. There’s dance and punk and rock, all smelted in a furnace of engrossing brilliance. The band has consistently shown their taste for slick, catchy anthems anchored by smoking bass lines and allied to the astounding vocals of Beth Ditto. Of Montreal Announce “Paralytic Stalks”

Masterful indie rock act Of Montreal have revealed plans to release their latest studio offering in February 2012.

Paralytic Stalks, which will feature the recently leaked song “Wintered Debts,” will arrive on shelves and online February 7 via Polyvinyl. The offering will be released digitally, as well as on cd, vinyl, and even through a limited run of cassettes (courtesy of a Joyful Noise/Polyvinyl Records collaboration). Of Montreal Announce Limited Edition Cassette Box Set

Of Montreal have partnered with Joyful Noise Recordings to prep and soon release a limited edition cassette box set of the innovative group’s entire discography.

The package, which is scheduled for release October 25 and limited to five hundred copies, contains all ten of the group’s album within a special screen-printed wooden box (seen below).

Those interested in the package can secure a copy now for $75. Those unable to part with that kind of cash just yet better act fast, these won’t last long.
