ALBUM STREAM: Jimmy Eat World – ‘Damage’

It’s finally here; Jimmy Eat World are streaming Damage in its entirety at their website. Listen here.

As Confront Magazine points out, the band took to social media for the stream. Instead of a regular release, fans needed to tweet each song in order to unlock them. Once enough tweets piled in, a new song would be “unlocked.”

About half of the new record’s tracks have been floating about the web, from live performances to the new music video for “I Will Steal You Back”. Hearing the songs in their proper order and with a good set of …

surfer blood

STREAM: Surfer Blood – “Weird Shapes”

Indie power-poppers Surfer Blood released their debut, Astro Coast, a little over three years ago. But it feels like so much longer, doesn’t it?

Well the boys in the Brooklyn via Florida have been busy prepping their followup LP,Pythons, over the past couple months. Instead of going it alone, they’re working with some heavy hitters this time around. Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World) produced the whole shebang while Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Kevin Devine, Saves The Day) helmed the mixing boards.

See if you can hear the influence of Surfer …

2013 Download Festival Lineup Announced

UK’s Download Festival looks absolutely insane this year. I’m publicly sobbing that I won’t be there in June. The event takes place from June 14 to June 16; we already knew several acts like Queens of the Stone Age were playing, but this lineup is tough to beat.

The acts? Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Bullet For My Valentine, Queens of the Stone Age, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Enter Shikari, Alice in Chains, Mastodon, Stone Sour, Parkway drive, Five Finger Death Punch, Jimmy Eat World, and so much more. I just can’t believe Jimmy Eat World, Limp Bizkit, …

funeral for a friend 2013

WATCH: Funeral For A Friend – “The Distance”

Post-hardcore stalwarts Funeral For A Friend are continuing to gear up for the release of their sixth album Conduit today with the debut of the music video for their next single “The Distance”.

The track is a hooky, heavy, riffy return to form for the band. That said, I can’t help but feel like the clip is a more-brutal update on that one part of the video for Jimmy Eat World‘s “Sweetness”. Visually speaking, anyways.

Check out the video after the jump and you’ll see what I mean.

Jimmy Eat World Finish Mixing Album, Now Mastering

Jimmy Eat World constantly updates us through their Twitter account. Every step of the process, they’ve let us know where they’re at; and apparently today, November 30, they have finished mixing and are beginning to master the album. I’m sure in a week or two they’ll say they’re doing mastering, and maybe then they’ll finally tell us the album title that they have picked out.

The release is coming in 2013, but has no set date or details as of yet.

New Jimmy Eat World Album “Almost Done Mixing”

Jimmy Eat World have had a long career and a quiet year. They’ve hinted at their still untitled upcoming album, giving away hints that it would be released in the first half of 2013 and that they would be recording some cover songs. On their Twitter account, they have said they are in the process of mixing the album, and are “almost done“. James Brown (no, not that one) is mixing the album.

The turn around after an album is done mixing is usually three months or ninety days, so I would guess this album is coming …
