Troy Sennett best of 2013

Troy Sennett’s ‘Best of 2013′ In Music

Let’s talk about moments.

Around 5:00 PM on June 8, 2013, I watched Spitalfield play “Stolen From Some Great Writer” to an empty theater. This was a band I never thought I would have the chance to see live soundchecking for a ten-year anniversary performance of Remember Right Now, a record that had a huge impact on me as a musician and as a person in my early teens. It was intensely personal and universal at the same time, one of those moments that made me feel like a part of something bigger than myself while also acting as …

The Gaslight Anthem B-Sides Collection Coming, Tour With Jimmy Eat World Rumored

Fans of The Gaslight Anthem should have plenty to be excited about in the coming year. To begin with, it looks like SideOneDummy Records is releasing a b-sides collection on January 28. The band previously announced plans to …

Dubbed CaskWerks Distilling Co., the trio will aim to “bring a fresh, local perspective to a very old and established industry,” and according to Burch, will begin by brewing a “beautiful apple pie liqueur,” “a crisp, citrus-forward Gin, and a velvety-soft American …

Austin City Limits Releases Schedule

Austin, TX’s slogan should include not only keeping the DIY-centered city “weird,” but musical too. Austin City Limits returns this year for two weekends, October 4-6 and October 11-13, and the schedule has just been released. Much to festival-goers’ delights, the two weekends have a pretty similar schedule. Much to festival-goers’ disappointment, there are some tough clashes to choose from. Overall, though, I think it looks better than last year’s great lineup.

Pick and plan your (dream) schedule from the set times announced on their official website. Some of the tough clashes include Jimmy Eat World/Smith

STREAM: Surfer Blood – “Weird Shapes”

Indie power-poppers Surfer Blood released their debut, Astro Coast, a little over three years ago. But it feels like so much longer, doesn’t it?

Well the boys in the Brooklyn via Florida have been busy prepping their followup LP,Pythons, over the past couple months. Instead of going it alone, they’re working with some heavy hitters this time around.
