MOVIE REVIEW: ‘The End Of The Tour’ Is A Life-Changing Experience

Film: The End Of The Tour
Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Jason Segel
Directed by: James Ponsoldt

It’s amazing how one conversation can forever change the course of our lives. You could be speaking with a close friend or a stranger on the street and, without warning, find yourself seeing the world in a whole new light. Such moments are rare and incredibly fleeting, often known solely to the people involved in the conversation itself, but the new film from James Ponsoldt finds a way to capture the magic of honest dialogue and share its beauty with the world.

First ‘End Of The Tour’ Trailer Is Wonderful (And Sad)

David Foster Wallace spent a part of his life as the most famous writer in America, but whether or not he reveled in the attention is another story altogether. The End Of The Tour, which A24 will release this summer, tells the story of a young man (Jesse Eisenberg) who follows Wallace (Jason Segel) during the tail end of a book tour. He’s there to write about the man everyone loves to read, but as the first trailer reveals he’s really embarking on the biggest journey of his life.

The 6 Must-See Films Of IFF Boston 2015

Another week of important cinema is nigh!

Wednesday, April 22 marks the beginning of Independent Film Festival Boston‘s 2015 fest.

Per usual with UTG, we wanted to let our readers know what films we are most excited for in the upcoming fest. Just under 100 films are playing between April 22 and 29. Unfortunately, we cannot attend all of them. You know, unless you have a magical time machine we can borrow from you.

Anyway, might as well get into the thick of it while I have your attention, right?

MOVIE REVIEW: ‘Sex Tape’

Film: Sex Tape
Starring: Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel
Directed by: Jake Kasdan

From beginning to end, Sex Tape feels like a film that arrived in theaters a decade too late. There is not a single frame that is in any way sexy or sensual, and very few offer any substantial laughs. There is a sex scene or two, sure, but they’re handled so poorly (like much of the film) that all humor and romance is completely sucked out of the scene, leaving a slew of well known Hollywood talent looking like people who foolishly signed on to create an absolute …

The first teaser trailer for SLC Punk 2: Punk’s Dead has been revealed and features a still very dead Heroin Bob (Michael Goorjian) joined by his friends Sean (Devon Sawa), Eddie (Adam Pascal), and John the Mod (James Duval).

The film is set to take place 18 years after the original SLC Punk ended. There has been very little detail in regards to plot announced but the storyline will be focused on Heroin Bob’s son, Ross (Ben Schnetzer). Hip hop artist Machine Gun Kelly is also set to co-star as a character named Crash. The two new female leads will …

Watch The Trailer For Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel’s ‘Sex Tape’

Hopefully this new movie from Jason Segel will soften the blow that was the How I Met Your Mother series finale. In Sex Tape he stars alongside Cameron Diaz and after the two make a sex tape (obviously) and lose it to the cloud, things go awry.

Diaz and Segel play a married couple who once shared a passionate romance but then lose it. To spice things up they decide to record themselves doing the deed. Instead of the footage being erased it syncs to the iPads they got their friends and family as gifts. First off, this is a …

Jason Segel Cast as David Foster Wallace in ‘The End of the Tour’ Biopic

Late literary genius David Foster Wallace is, well, a genius. The award-winning American novelist, short story writer, essayist, and professor is responsible for probably the most important novel in the past 20 years, Infinite Jest, if not longer than that. So when directors were looking to cast someone as Wallace for their upcoming film, they went with none other than… Jason Segel?

According to The Wrap, director James Ponsoldt (Smashed, The Spectacular Now) is in charge of the biopic, which is an adaptation of Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip With David

If You Want ‘SLC Punk 2’ You’re Going To Have To Fund It

What was once just talk has turned into reality. Just months after announcing plans to try and bring an SLC Punk sequel to life, creator James Merendino has launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund the film’s production.

Announced via press release (the most punk of all news delivery methods), the official crowdfunding campaign for SLC Punk 2: Punk’s Dead has 45 days to reach its goal of $250,000. Of course, since this is an Indiegogo account, if the film fails to raise its posted goal the creators will still have the option of keeping all funds donated. From the release:…

You see, we’ve grown tired of Hollywood rehashing ideas we’re old enough to remember. Why remake something the majority of the planet still remembers and loves deeply when there are tons of films that deserve a chance to be as great as modern technology and skill can make them? If you agree, this column is for you.

The Five-Year Engagement is not the Summer’s most anticipated film, but it’s definitely on our must-see list.
