Chicago Rapper Big Glo, AKA Blood Money, Shot To Death In Englewood

Chicago is not messing around right now. The songs and so-called anthems you hear coming out of the trap movement are no joke. Kids are dying over this stuff, and it’s getting worse by the week. This is the second story like this I have written in two weeks and I wish I could tell myself it would be the last. Please, Chicago. Stay safe.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that rapper Big Glo, real name Mario Hess, was shot dead last night in Englewood, IL. He was 33.

Glo, who happened to be a cousin to Chicago rapper Chief …

Lady Gaga Denies Reports That ‘ARTPOP’ Lost Her Label Millions

Contrary to rumors, Lady Gaga has denied that her new album ARTPOP and its surrounding ad campaign lost Interscope Records over $25 million.

Shortly after the release of the record, an Examiner article appeared online claiming that ARTPOP underperformed to Interscope’s expectations, selling 258,000 copies in its first week in comparison to 2011′s Born This Way selling 1.108 million copies in the same timeframe. According to the article, which has since disappeared, the record’s underwhelming sales led directly to layoffs in the corporation.

However, in a recent post on her LittleMonsters website, Mother Monster herself shut down the reports, claiming …

chief keef

Chief Keef Premieres “No Reason”

Chief Keef has remained in the headlines for virtually everything but his music recently, so it was refreshing to see the underage rapper return with a new track called “No Reason.” Unfortunately, these positive sentiments were rather short-lived for this admitted Chief Keef fan as the release isn’t exactly what one would expect from one of the most hyped rappers in recent memory. Although the beat is rather standard fare for Keef’s signature breed of trap rap, his offensively lazy and offbeat flow absolutely derails the song to the point it’s almost unbearable to listen to in its entirety.

REVIEW: – Willpower

Album: Willpower
Genre: Hip-hop, electropop
Label: Interscope

It’s been six years since’s last solo venture was released, so Willpower is exactly the kind of leviathan you’d expect it to be. Fifteen tracks long (eighteen on the deluxe version) and generous with the pomp and circumstance, it’s an album of generally mixed fortunes. – or William Adams, to his mum – seems to have jammed in a song or two for every year of his absence from the solo scene. He’s come up with plenty to love – classical samples are plentiful and generally beautiful and …

REVIEW: OneRepublic – Native

Artist: Onerepublic
Album: Native
Genre: Pop/rock
Label: Mosley/Interscope

I’m not sure if this is due to the calibre of music I reviewed earlier in the week, but I am thoroughly unmoved by this album. I want to like it – at least, I think I do. It’s by OneRepublic who are naught if not predictable, and in theory should be providing a solid piece of generically accessible pop/rock to score the background of technology ads for the next year or so. It is the definition of mainstream pop. It’s big in scale, bland on sound, enhanced to within an inch …
