This Will Destroy You Another Language

This Will Destroy You Announce New Album, Stream “Dustism”

Post-rock will always uphold its timelessness thanks to its slow, nature-like unravel and its lyric-less universal language (d’aww, how sweet). There, standing tall near the front of that genre, is Texas five piece This Will Destroy You. On September 16, they will drop a new album, titled Another Language, via Suicide Squeeze (or Holodeck if you’re looking for a cassette).

The band’s beautiful new single “Dustism” is streaming over at Stereogum now. “Dustism” spends its first half building a gentle wave of softly padded guitar that retreats to a false ending before gearing up for what becomes a crushing …

Tycho See Video

Watch Tycho’s Surreal Music Video for “See”

In the past 10 years, Scott Hansen has been swirling up beautiful minimal electronic sounds under the moniker Tycho. His gorgeous second LP, Awakecame out this year to positive reviews from fans and critics alike. However, the new album saw a new look: Tycho became a trio and took on a sound more along the lines of post-rock and trip hop than his soft songs from previous years.

Today, his new music video for “See” comes out and we feel like we’ve left planet Earth once again. Directed by Bradley “GMUNK” Munkowitz, who helped with Oblivion‘s …

Watch Mogwai’s Extreme Sports Post-Rock Video For “Simon Ferocious”

If there’s anything as speechless as post-rock music, it’s extreme sports. In their newest music video, Scottish post-rock band Mogwai pair up “Simon Ferocious” with some extreme skydiving footage.

The Rave Tapes single sees slow, crashing cymbals along with buzzing keys and zoned-out guitar — perfect for the new images. The aerial acrobatics lined up with a gorgeous skyline lets the audio and visual team up together for a breathtaking music video. Check it out for yourself below:…

In The Hollows Nat Baldwin

REVIEW: Nat Baldwin – ‘In The Hollows’

Artist: Nat Baldwin
Album: In The Hollows
Genre: Chamber Pop
Label: Western Vinyl

Nat Baldwin is a careful man. It’s difficult to imagine the Dirty Projectors bassist being anything but after growing up in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, surrounded by trees and the type of community that rids politeness of stiff formalities. He forgoes beer onstage for water from his Nalgene. He pauses between sentences when speaking. He’s aware of the seconds on his watch but never feels the pressure of its ticks. All of that carefulness, trivial as it seems, gets in the way on his fifth full-length release, In

MUSIC VIDEO: Dirty Up – “Horizons”

Bay Area born hip-hop producer Dirty Up has dropped a brand new song, entitled “Horizons,” with an accompanying music video that can be found after the jump. When asked about the intent of the video’s surreal visuals, Dirty Up told us, “the video is meant to convey a certain sense of nostalgia to the viewer; comprised of clips from movies I watched growing up, this video carries a strong sentimental value to myself.

The track comes from his forthcoming debut full-length, Shit I Name Songs After, which is set to hit the web on June 20. Until …

Inventions (Explosions In The Sky, Eluvium) Stream Debut Album

Need some mellow instrumental music in your life right now? If so, then you’re in luck! Inventions, a side project of members from Explosions In The Sky and Eluvium, have partnered up with NPR to stream their debut self-titled album in its entirety a little over a week before its official release date. I’ve listened to about half of it so far, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you are a fan of either one of those artists (or just music in general). Take a listen to it by heading on over to NPR.

The album is …

MUSIC VIDEO: Dirty Up – “Aimless”

Instrumental hip-hop producer Dirty Up has debuted a phenomenal new single, entitled “Aimless,” with tripped-out visuals to match that can be found after the jump. Featuring an immersive atmosphere composed of down-pitched vocals and the occasional fluttering of snares along with a thundering bassline and blissful samples, the cut is quite possibly the Boone-based artist’s best work yet.

For those who have yet to check out Dirty Up’s previously released work, head over to Bandcamp to cop a free download of his Mishka backed EP, Thrillwave. For those who dig what they’re hearing, be sure to stay tuned to UTG …

FULL ALBUM STREAM: Tides Of Man – ‘Young And Courageous”

Ever since Tides Of Man announced that they would continue as an instrumental group after Tilian Pearson left I was curious to find out how they would sound. I don’t listen to very many instrument-only bands, but this was a band that I had adored so I have been open to giving them a try. Now the time has come, as we are a little less than 24 hours away from the official release date of Young And Courageous. As a treat for fans, the band put the album up on YouTube to stream a little early. You can …

Hear a New Single From Inventions (Explosions in the Sky and Eluvium)

Ambient post-rock lovers heard good news a little over a week ago when it was reported that Mark T. Smith of Explosions in the Sky and Eluvium’s Matthew Cooper teamed up to form a new band called Inventions. Their full self-titled LP is due April 1 via Temporary Residence Ltd., but you can get a taste of their sound now with “Entity.”

The single takes a dive into the ambient underwater with slow-motion cymbal crashes and echoing guitar. If you gave Explosions in the Sky’s score for 2013 film Prince Avalanche a listen, then this shouldn’t come as a …
