The Dangerous Summer Release New Non-Album Track

After releasing two incredible full length albums in the past, Dangerous Summer fans and critics are waiting in anticipation for the release of their new album. AbsolutePunk reports that the band began teasing the album by releasing an instrumental non-album track, entitled “Hemingway,” via their SoundCloud page.

The instrumental track contains a vocal sample during its intro, while bass, guitar, and a wall of spacey reverb guitar build on top of each other. There has yet to be an explanation as to what exactly this track is. Was it a throw away idea? Is this recording from the same sessions …

You Could Be Shai Hulud’s New Vocalist

We previously reported that Chad from New Found Glory would not stay as Shai Hulud‘s vocalist, and they would search for a permanent replacement later. What we didn’t realize was just how open the search for a new vocalist would be.

You can download instrumental versions of “Chorus of the Dissimilar”, “Misanthropy Pure”, “Set Your Body Ablaze” and a demo of “Whether To Cry Or To Destroy” here, and then you can record your vocals and e-mail it to the band at shai@hulud.com. (I’m actually fairly impressed with that e-mail address. Unsurprising, but clever.)

John Mayer - 2012

STREAM: John Mayer – Video Games (Lana Del Rey Cover)

John Mayer may have taken a break from touring, but that has not stopped the young rock legend from taking a shot at Lana Del Rey’s breakthrough hit.

finding its way online last night void of all the synth found in the original version, Mayer’s take on “Video Games” feels like the sad, sad tale of woe sang by someone riding across the Wild West at sunset. The track has no vocals, but that will not stop it from haunting you. Hear what I mean, after the jump.

No word on whether or not Mayer plans to do more covers …

UTG TV: T.R.A.M. Live

Sometimes things around the site get a little out of hand and features get left behind when they really deserve to be posted. Today’s UTG TV, as well as the other “vault” features we will be releasing in coming weeks, is that kind of article. Shot last year during their first performance ever, UTG TV is proud to present two 1080p recordings of T.R.A.M.

There really are no words to define the sound of Sumerian Records’ T.R.A.M., but “groundbreaking” and “artistic” would not be far off. Comprised of Adrian Terrazas (The Mars Volta) on saxophone, flute, bass clarinet and percussion, …

REVIEW: Animals As Leaders – Weightless

Album: Weightless
Artist: Animals As Leaders
Genre: Instrumental Prog Metal
Label: Prosthetic Records

When Animals As Leaders dropped their self-titled debut in 2009, it’s safe to say that this brainchild of Tosin Abasi and Misha “Bulb” Mansoor blew the minds of just about everyone in the music world away. Two years later, it still is in heavy rotation for many listeners, even as the release of the band’s follow-up record, Weightless is about to be released. This time written by Tosin, Navene Koperweis, and Javier Reyes (now the permanent lineup), the band’s sound still remains quite similar to their first …
