With the official release of Kveikur only a week away, Sigur Rós are now streaming their seventh record in its entirety through Amazon.

Known for mesmerizing the world with their ethereal blend of Hopelandic-infused post-rock, the quartet-turned-trio have taken a noticeable shift into darker territory which may come as a surprise to longtime listeners. With that being said, reigning back the expected blissful tone doesn’t mean the material is unrecognizable as the beloved key elements of Sigur Rós’ sound, such as Jonsi’s otherworldly vocals and an utterly engaging atmosphere, are still maintained throughout each of the new album’s nine songs.…

MUSIC VIDEO: Sigur Rós – “Varúð”

Icelandic post-rock quartet, Sigur Rós, have released their new music video for their single, “Varúð”. The track comes off the group’s sixth album, Valtari, which was released this past May via Parlophone Records. You can check out the video after the jump.

The experimental music video is part of Sigur Rós’ “The Valtari Mystery Film Experiment“, an invitation to some of the better indie cinematographers to create low-budget films for Valtari’s songs.

Icelandic post-rock Gods Sigur Rós have released a brand new music video for their track “Varúð” which comes off their impressive, sixth studio album Valtari that dropped May 23.

At nearly 7 minutes in length, the video goes perfectly hand-in-hand with the song in which it provides visuals for. We watch a gorgeously majestic landscape undergo changes through weather as figures gather on the cliffs with lights, matching the sounds of “Varúð”. The video was directed by Ingibjörg Birgisdóttir who also created the cover art for Valtari which debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 this week, making it …

Sigur Ros release teaser video

After an indefinite hiatus and a little over three years since their last studio album, Sigur Ros have released a beautifully epic teaser clip entitled “INNI” on their official website.

No other details have been revealed but it is speculated that it’s promoting a new album or possibly a live DVD. In February of this year, Jonsi.com staff announced that vocalist Jónsi Birgisson would be back in the studio with the band over spring but no other information was provided. Seabear announces 2nd album

Icelandic 7-piece Seabear has announced the release of their anticipated sophomore album, We Built a Fire, in March 2010 on Morr Music. The band will be making their US touring debut behind the album’s release, as well as performing several shows and parties at this year’s SXSW.

Defying its humble beginnings as the lo-fi solo project of Icelandic singer/multi-instrumentalist Sindri Már Sigfússon, Seabear has morphed into a rambling experimental/indie/folk septet. Sigfússon (also known as Sin Fang Bous – dubbed the “Icelandic Beck” by David Fricke of Rolling Stone on his recent US tour with Múm) was
