Virginia Promoter Calls Misser Merch Guy A Faggot; We’re Not Stoked

Tonight, Misser made a stop in Springfield, Virginia on their pop-punk all-star tour with The Wonder Years, Fireworks, and Hostage Calm.

The show was at Empire where 24/20 management owner and concert promoter Tyler Greene (who some may recall as the vocalist for metal band ABACABB) was collecting merch cuts. When Misser merch guy and member of Late In The Playoffs, Dan Schein, gave him their cut, Greene reportedly “called him a Faggot” for not having more to give him.

This promoter must have forgotten about the Internet and the pop-punk community’s distaste for homophobic slurs …

WATCH: Hostage Calm – “Patriot” (Live)

Last night, on their first night on tour with The Wonder Years, Fireworks and Misser at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Hostage Calm closed their set by performing “Patriot”.

The song is an a capella-driven ballad of sorts off of their acclaimed 2012 release Please Remain Calm. The band claimed they’ve never performed the song live before.

Catch Hostage Calm on tour throughout March and April, pick up Please Remain Calm on iTunes and watch their performance of “Patriot” below.

Rocketown Promoter Has Different Side To Volumes Controversy

There are two sides to every story, and the latest incident from Rocketown is looking pretty hectic. Last night, the word was Volumes front man Michael Barr was attacked by following his dedication of a song to a homosexual friend (with No Country For New Nashville originally reporting that reasoning, but they have since updated their page to reflect a lack of concrete knowledge on it). Some people posted on their Facebook page saying Barr needed to show more respect and the like, but there was no concrete report on what actually happened.

While no video of the incident …

Volumes Frontman Reportedly Attacked At Rocketown After Dedicating A Song To A Homosexual Friend

Damn, Rocketown. Get it together.

Following news earlier in the week that an employee at the Nashville-based Rocketown music venue was fired after wearing a Hostage Calm shirt promoting same sex marriage, word of a new incident at the Tennessee establishment has made its way to UTG.

According to various sources at the venue, as well as tweets from band members, it seems Volumes frontman Michael Barr was attacked by someone last night following his onstage song dedication to a homosexual friend. You can view a selection of Tweets from Barr and other members of Volumes below, as well …

Rocketown Release Statement On Same-Sex Marriage

Recently we reported that an employee of the music venue Rocketown in Nashville, Tennessee was fired for sporting Hostage Calm‘s ‘I Support Same Sex Marriage’ shirt. I imagine in light of public outrage seen in the last 24 hours the venue decided to issue a statement on the situation. You can see what they had to say by checking below.

If you want to show your support by wearing the same shirt you can purchase them here. Let’s just hope you don’t work somewhere where you can get fired for wearing it.

Friend Of Hostage Calm Fired For Wearing Same-Sex Marriage Shirt

Just when you think the country is moving in the right direction regarding equality something like this happens. According to a very lengthy post from our friends in Hostage Calm, a long-time friend of theirs was fired from his job at a concert venue for wearing a shirt that said “I Support Same-Sex Marriage”. While I will not get into my personal feelings on how disgusted I am with the actions of this man’s employers you are more than welcome to read what the members of Hostage Calm had to say by checking below the jump.

Skate And Surf Announce 2013 Lineup, Headliners Include Glassjaw, A Day To Remember, Macklemore, And RX Bandits

I have to go to Skate And Surf this year. While several other bands hinted at their inclusion at the festival and a few had confirmed, an e-mail sent out to subscribers early this morning dropped a lot of big names. I wanted to go for Saves The Day and Glassjaw, but now you throw in the major names of A Day To Remember, Macklemore, and – my personal favorite – RX Bandits?

You can see the image with the lineup of all those we know so far after the jump (Andrew WK solo performance included). The …

The Wonder Years Finish Up Pre-Production

Pop-punk outfit The Wonder Years have finished up pre-production on their new record and are beginning recording now. They have no target release date, but it isn’t out of the question for them to finish up this year. We’ll keep you updated with that as time goes along.
