Danny Brown Re-releasing ‘Hot Soup’ With Seven Bonus Songs, Stream “Contra” Now

Back in 2008,  Detroit rapper Danny Brown put out a mixtape called Hot Soup, one of several that helped him gain a cult following. Now that project will be re-released as a special double LP and 7″.

The re-release comes out April 15 and turns the 20-song Hot Soup mixtape into a two-disc LP with seven bonus tracks. If you want all seven, though, you’ll have to buy the vinyl edition — two of those will only be released on wax.

Straight off of that re-release is “Contra,” our first taste of the reworked material. Check out the song and …

Young Thug Still Signed to 1017 Brick Squad

There’s been a lot of talk regarding who 22-year-old rapper Young Thug is signed to, and now Billboard is claiming he isn’t signed to Young Money like we thought, but rather the original 1017 Brick Squad/Atlantic listing.

Young Thug signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Brick Squad back in 2013, but he recently talks like he’s an unsigned musician. During a SiriusXM interview, he said he was a part of Future’s Freebandz label; when talking with a reporter, he said he had signed to Cash Money; when “Stoner” first began charting in February, no label was listed.

“I want to …

Fallon Timberlake 5

Watch Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon Perform History of Rap Part 5

If you’re like me, then you’ve watched the four episodes of Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon performing the history of rap way too many times. Good news: now there’s a new one to memorize.

Last night Justin Timberlake went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to do a reprise of their History of Rap series. Pay attention. They’ve merged recent hits with oldies for another good mix of rap, including Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Jay Z, N.W.A., OutKast, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Run-D.M.C., Beastie Boys, Skee-Lo, LL Cool J, Biggie, and more. Watch it below:…

Skrillex Debuts New Collaboration With Chance the Rapper

Skrillex recently treated fans in Brooklyn to the debut of a new collaboration with Chicago artist Chance The Rapper. Lucky for us, someone caught the whole thing on video.

Halfway through his set last night, Skrillex checked in with fans before transitioning into the world premiere of a brand new track featuring Acid Rap star Chance The Rapper. It’s likely the product of the pair’s recent studio time with Mike Will Made It, but at this time that information is impossible to confirm. What we do know is that the track sounds awesome, and those hungry for a taste …

LISTEN: Iggy Azalea – “Fancy” (Feat. Charli XCX)

Iggy Azalea has been a favorite of UTG’s for quite some time now, thus making the wait for her constantly delayed debut record, The New Classic, borderline torturous. With the release of “Fancy,” a reworking of a demo entitled “Leave It,” though, Azalea once again reminds fans why they have been standing by in hopes of hearing a full-length in the first place. Featuring what is arguably the Australian rapper’s best performance yet, the song also includes a phenomenal chorus courtesy of Charli XCX, best known as one of the minds behind Icona Pop’s smash hit, “I Love It.”…

Freddie Gibbs 2013

Hear Freddie Gibbs, Madlib, Earl Sweatshirt, and Domo Genesis on “Robes”

California’s Madlib and Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs are teaming up to release a collaborative album on March 18. The album, titled Piñata, comes out through Madlib’s label Madlib Invazion and has been pushed back since its original February 4 date. If that news is upsetting, relax. One listen to “Robes” off the album and you’ll realize it’s worth it.

Featuring guest verses from Earl Sweatshirt and Domo Genesis, ”Robes” is a chilled out track with smooth bass and tickling jazz guitar in the background. If they pushed back the release date due to additional production, it’s worth it; this sounds …

Former Outkast manager Queen Latifah (yes – that Queen Latifah) claims the recently reunited duo are gearing up to record a new album.

Appearing on The Howard Stern Show yesterday, the same day Outkast announced their world tour plans, Queen Latifah revealed to the world that Big Boi and Andre 3000 will soon enter the studio to begin working on their first album together in nearly a decade.

“They’re chilling… They’re about to work on a new album,” commented Latifah, who used to head up the Flavor Unit management company.

Rick Ross No Games

STREAM: Rick Ross ft.Whole Slab – “I Know” (Remix)

It’s been just over 24 hours since 2014 began, and rapper Rick Ross is already making the most of his year. After a long legal battle to keep his name, the court ruled in favor of the rapper, despite basing his name off the drug kingpin who is still alive.

Now Rick Ross is living up to his re-approved rap name by dropping some new lines over Yo Gotti and Rich Homie Quan’s “I Know.”  He already laid some words over the instrumental of Kanye’s “Bound 2″ this year, but the lyrics he puts over “I Know” are much more …
