Reactions Stream Cover Of Ke$ha’s “Thinking Of You”

Earlier this week I was thinking that it had been a moment since we had a good, ridiculous cover to feature on the site. Then, as if the heavens above (or devil below) heard my cries, the following track found its way to our inbox.

After teasing the release of a new cover if the group hit certain numbers on a Facebook post, Reactions have released a cover of Ke$ha’s revenge-loving track, “Thinking Of You.” The song details the songstress’ reflection on a lover from the days before she was as famous as she is now, and the angst added …

Madina Lake Confirm Break Up; Plan Final EP

We have been keeping quiet on this story, but a few of our AbsoluteVoices brethren have been following its development for the last few weeks. Madina Lake, probably most well known for their hit “Here I Stand,” have confirmed what many have been saying for weeks and will indeed be splitting up in the near future.

Confirmation of the impending split was made by bassist Matthew Leone, who explained the decision with a short message to fans. His letter reads:

“We feel content and grateful for the ambitious goal and dream we’ve been able to realize with this project, and

The Bronx

REVIEW: The Bronx – IV

Artist: The Bronx
Album: IV
Genre: Hardcore/Punk
Label: White Drugs

I’m tempted to write that it’s business as usual here for The Bronx, but doing so feels like a disservice. The simply-titled IV (as in, their fourth eponymous album) is a model of cast-iron efficiency, utilising all the toughness and relish and jarring qualities that permeate their work, and yet it’s something more elegant and refined than that description might imply. IV is easily good enough to count among the punk stalwarts of the new year but it has a light and, at times, tender touch that gives it …

EXCLUSIVE STREAM: Sideshow – [Intra] EP

Of all the up and coming bands we have written about over the past few years, few have received the level of admiration and support our readers have shown Rhode Island’s Sideshow. Since first appearing on UTG over a year ago, this hard rock act has taken several bold steps forward in the career, playing to thousands and working harder than even in the studio, and it has all lead up to today. Now, for the first time anywhere, fans and newcomers can experience Sideshow’s latest EP, [Intra] through a co-album premiere on UTG and PropertyOfZack. We have …

REVIEW: In This Moment – Blood

Artist: In This Moment
Album: Blood
Genre: Hard Rock

I have been listening to In This Moment since high school. I remember the very first time I even heard of them, they were on tour supporting Walls Of Jericho and they had just released their debut album Beautiful Tragedy. I was easily won over by Maria Brink’s great singing voice and her equally powerful screams. I’ve seen them live quite a few times since then.

Now, I will be the first to admit I did not like their sophomore album, The Dream, I had such high expectations and …

REVIEW: Aranda – Stop The World

Artist: Aranda
Album: Stop the World
Genre: Rock/Hard rock
Label: Aranda Music

Aranda’s description on their Facebook page indicates that listening to them is “like hearing an explosive hybrid of the atom bomb and all of Woodstock combined.” High praise, that, assuming it’s not self-imposed. It is unfortunate then that the Oklahoma four-piece are nowhere near as thrilling as this would imply, and on this evidence seem instead to come from the school of big-scale, rugged chart rock that has made stars of the likes of Shinedown and Daughtry. Unlike these bands however, who manage to combine solid riffs with …

UTG’s Best Of 2012 (So Far…)

Seems like just yesterday we were rolling into 2012 with our “5 Bands To Watch” feature, but a glance at the calendar over the last week reminded the UTG staff that the year is already half gone. Discussing our triumphs and failures over the past few months lead to a discussion on the art that has stuck with us and, as always, the idea to release a new list feature was born.

If one thing is glaringly clear from entertainment in 2012, it’s that there is not only something for everyone, there is an abundance of it. We do our …

REVIEW: Linkin Park – Living Things

Artist: Linkin Park
Album: Living Things
Genre: Rock
Label: Warner Bros.

One of the many things that can be said about Linkin Park is that there will never be one album from the band that will go by unnoticed in today’s mainstream world. The band has just little bit of everything for everyone out there. Distorted guitars for the typical rock fans? Check. Walls of synth sounds coupled with some occasional dance-y drum beats for the electro fans? Check. The occasional rapped verse/chorus by Mike Shinoda for the more experimental hip hop fans? Check. What about some harsh auto-tune laced …

REVIEW: The Ghost Inside – Get What You Give

Artist: The Ghost Inside
Album: Get What You Give
Genre: Melodic Hardcore
Label: Epitaph

There’s currently a big resurgence going on in the world of hardcore… Just kidding, it is a lot more like there are more and more gems popping up within the dirt of everything else that’s being regurgitated and spewed about. These gems that consist of bands actually branching out and doing more than just breakdowns and 2 step passages. The latest of these can be displayed through The Ghost Inside’s third studio album, Get What You Give. Back in January, it was announced that the band …

REVIEW: Broadway – Gentleman’s Brawl

Artist: Broadway
Album: Gentleman’s Brawl
Genre: Rock
Label: Uprising Records

Ah, young men. Ever eager. Such is how I choose to sum up this album, the sophomore effort from Broadway, which varies between decently enjoyable and absolutely, ridiculously OTT. You may need to take a shot of adrenaline to get through the whole thing. It’s fired up with relentlessly driven, spirited energy and enthusiasm and while this keeps it alive and immediate, it’s also more than a little all over the place. There are good ideas and lots of potential here, but they’ve been washed down with a tank of …

REVIEW: Make Me Famous – It’s Now Or Never

Artist: Make Me Famous
Album: It’s Now Or Never
Genre: Hard Rock
Label: Sumerian

Sumerian Records recently signed Ukrainian natives Make Me Famous, and there has been quite a bit of buzz and hype surrounding the band. I’ll say that I have been following them for quite some time now, I was intrigued by their singles “Once You Killed A Cow, You Gotta Make A Burger” & “I’m A Traitor No One Does Care” (at least that’s how it was originally) and was a fan ever since.
