Brandon Pagano (Handguns) and Jake Mannix Cover The 1975’s “Girls”

Brandon Pagano is a member of pop-punk favorites Handguns, as well as one of our favorite people from the entire music industry. He’s the type of person who always has something new to share, and in the midst of everyone’s holiday celebration, the twenty-something partnered with friend Jake Mannix to share a punk-laden cover of The 1975’s hit single “Girls.”

You may have your doubts about a pop-punk diehard’s ability to capture the sensual undertones of “Girls” in a way that is in any way comparable to the original track, but Pagano and Mannix have gone above and beyond with …

Four Year Strong

Four Year Strong Add Handguns, Heart To Heart, Expire To Tour Lineup

Remember a few weeks ago when Four Year Strong announced a headlining tour featuring support from Comeback Kid? That run just got a hell of a lot sweeter.

Handguns, Expire, and Heart To Heart, all of whom are currently wrapping up the final dates of the Pure Noise Records Tour, have been added to Four Year Strong’s 2015 roster. With a nice mix of pop-punk and hardcore bands, this lineup is the perfect compliment to Four Year Strong’s tendency to lean toward both genres. The tour runs through the month of January. You can pick up …

Handguns Stream New Album, ‘Life Lessons’

Pop punk favorites Handguns have released a full stream of their upcoming album, Life Lessons.

Premiering exclusively on Substream, Life Lessons showcases handguns at their most focused and mature. As guitarist Brandon Pagano explained back in May, “Musically, we went in and wrote a faster, more aggressive record. I don’t think we meant to, but with what was going on at the time, we felt like that’s what we needed to do.”

You can stream Life Lessons, in full, at the end of this post.

Handguns are the kind of band that will tour until the wheels …

Handguns Stream “Queens”

Handguns have partnered with our friends at Rocksound to premiere a new song titled “Queens.”

The latest track to surface off Handguns‘ upcoming third album, Life Lessons, “Queens” channels the youthful drive to chase whatever dreams come your way against a wall of pop punk ripe with a late-90s influence. Vocalist Taylor Eby says Life Lessons is “a record about self-realisation, rebuilding, letting go of the past and focusing on what’s in front of you. Every song is an experience we have been through, and through those experiences we were able to gain something. We feel that this …

WEEKLY WAX: Vinyl Releases For The Week Of 5/18-5/24

Welcome to this week’s edition of Weekly Wax!

The last seven days have been dominated by pre-orders for new albums from some of our favorite artists. Braid, Every Time I Die, and Handguns all started selling their latest releases this week, to name a few. Although it didn’t get as much attention as it deserved in such a busy week, the new EP from Beach Slang is also a must-buy for any fan of The Replacements and The Menzingers.

In other news, Equal Vision Records revealed exclusive variants for popular albums from Chiodos and Pierce the Veil, …

Handguns Life Lessons

Handguns Stream New Song “Sleep Deprived”

Handguns have released a new song from their upcoming record Life Lessons called “Sleep Deprived.” You can check it out after the jump.

Listening to the new track, it’s apparent that the band went through a few lineup changes following the release of their 2012 debut record Angst. The change isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as the new song is one of the tighter songs that the band has ever released. A Summer release date of July 8 ensures that Life Lessons will be one of the biggest pop-punk releases of the year.

What do you think of the …

Hundredth, Counterparts, And More Announce Common Vision Tour

If you’re a fan of melodic hardcore, you can start planning your summer around the Common Vision Tour. The month-long trek begins July 17 in Fort Worth, Texas, and it features some of the genre’s best young bands.

At the top of the ticket are No Sleep Records rockers Hundredth, who recently released Resist, the second of two connected EPs, and Hamilton, Ontario’s Counterparts. The odd ones out on the tour are Pure Noise pop punk act Handguns, whose second album, Life Lessons, is due out in July, and the lineup is rounded out by …

UTG INTERVIEW: Pure Noise Records’ Founder Jake Round Celebrates Five-Year Anniversary

In 2009, Jake Round founded Pure Noise Records in California. Although he’d had no previous experience in single-handedly operating a record label, he was still able to turn a loan from his mother into one of the driving forces in independent pop punk, rock, indie, and hardcore.

In 2014, we are celebrating the five-year anniversary of Pure Noise Records, which has come a long way from a split decision to release a No Bragging Rights record. Perhaps you can accredit Round’s success to his longtime involvement in the local music scene, his time spent interning at a record label, or …

Handguns Pit “Heart Vs. Head” On New Song, ‘Life Lessons’ Out July 8

Despite a tumultuous past plagued with van troubles and lineup changes, Handguns have managed to consistently pump out solid pop punk songs with relatable lyrics and catchy choruses. “Heart Vs. Head,” the first taste of new music from the group since 2012’s Angst, couples those familiar features with the most aggressive guitar tones and driving bass lines in the Handguns discography. Stream the track after the break.

“Heart Vs. Head” will appear on Handguns’ sophomore full-length, Life Lessons, due out July 8 on Pure Noise Records. Pre-orders aren’t available yet, but the single can be purchased on iTunes

Handguns Part Ways With Their Drummer

Handguns announced a couple of hours ago that their drummer will no longer be a part of the band. This came shortly after a post from Woody himself where he expresses how much he has appreciated his time with them. Though neither went into details as to why he’s leaving, it sounds like there’s no bad blood. You can read both statements by taking a look below the jump.

The group stated their plans to tour won’t change, and the person who tracked drums for their upcoming album will temporarily fill in until they recruit a new full time drummer. …
