PropertyOfZack Previews Skate and Surf With Artists’ Timelines

Some monumental bands from the early 2000s are performing at Skate and Surf this weekend. To commemorate these artists and all of their hard work over the years, our buds over at PropertyOfZack put together a timeline honoring each of their histories. Here’s what PropertyOfZack had to say:

Many of us reflect back on the early 2000’s as a true golden age for the music that we love the most – the term “emo” hadn’t yet been bastardized by the mainstream, Drive-Thru Records was putting out release after release of foundational pop-punk, and no one had really thought yet to

UTG LIST: 5 Must-See Sets At Skate And Surf (Day 2)

This Saturday, May 18, Skate And Surf Festival will kick off at Six Flags Great Adventure New Jersey with dozens of the scene’s biggest names. A number of the UTG staff will be on hand for the event, and from the feedback we have been seeing on Twitter it sounds like a lot of you will be as well. If that’s the case, then you’re probably currently have a mini panic attack while trying to solve the biggest question you will face that day:

WHO AM I GOING TO SEE?

We already gave you our day one preview. Our …

Riot Fest Lineup Announced, Fall Out Boy And Blink 182 To Headline

You know when a “scene” festival lineup is pretty damn strong? When you have Taking Back Sunday, Say Anything, and Saves the Day below the halfway mark of your poster and Brand New on the third line.

As announced by our fellow AbsoluteVoices website PropertyOfZack, this year’s Riot Fest will feature (and take a big breath and sit down before reading all of this) Blink 182, Fall out Boy, The Violent Femmes, Motorhead, Sublime With Rome, Rancid, AFI, Blondie, Public Enemy, Brand New, Flag, Taking Back Sunday, Rocket From The Crypt, Bad Religion, Atmosphere, The Dismemberment Plan, Dinosaur Jr, …

REVIEW: Uh Huh Baby Yeah! – Trash Talk

Artist: Uh Huh Baby Yeah!
Album: Trash Talk
Genre: Rock/Pop
Label: Little Heart Records/Streaker Records

Louisville’s Uh Huh Baby Yeah! channels an interestingly catchy mixture of rough-around-the-edges post-hard and all-too-catchy pop-rock on their latest release, Trash Talk.

Trash Talk opens with “Dances With Wolves,” which spouts a clear and perfect example of this mixture. The track has a stupidly catchy chorus that explodes in the listeners’ ears, while the bridge of the song mirrors aggression not unlike a former Louisville artist, Emanuel (circa Soundtrack To A Headrush era, of course).

Brian Deneeve (From Autumn To Ashes), Tucker Rule (Thursday) Lars Weiss (Judge), Derrick Karg (Death In The Park) and Todd Weinstock (Glassjaw) have gotten together to start a new music project known as Get Involved!. They will be self-releasing their debut album, so in order to get things rolling they have launched a Kickstarter asking for $18,000 from their new fans. They also released a video explaining what they are looking to do and talk about their excitement for this new endeavor. You can watch that video by checking below the jump.

Skate And Surf Announce 2013 Lineup, Headliners Include Glassjaw, A Day To Remember, Macklemore, And RX Bandits

I have to go to Skate And Surf this year. While several other bands hinted at their inclusion at the festival and a few had confirmed, an e-mail sent out to subscribers early this morning dropped a lot of big names. I wanted to go for Saves The Day and Glassjaw, but now you throw in the major names of A Day To Remember, Macklemore, and – my personal favorite – RX Bandits?

You can see the image with the lineup of all those we know so far after the jump (Andrew WK solo performance included). The …

United Nations (Glassjaw, ex-Thursday) Now Features Members Of Pianos Become The Teeth

United Nations is a side project that, to the public’s knowledge, mainly consists of Daryl Palumbo (primarily known as Glassjaw‘s front man) and Geoff Rickly (the former vocalist for Thursday). Recently, they sent a so-called “transmission” to Alternative Press to announce a show and the addition of two unspecified members of Pianos Become The Teeth.

It reads: “In January of 2009 United Nations played their first show at the Black Cat in Washington, D.C. on inauguration day to usher in a new era of change. Now four years later the band are returning to the nation’s

RUMOR: Glassjaw To Play At Skate And Surf

Glassjaw has been awfully quiet lately, with no recordings since 2011′s Coloring Book. Lead vocalist Daryl Palumbo last did a show with one of his numerous projects in New York City on October 18 at Irving Plaza as Color Film. To our knowledge, Color Film is just Daryl and Richard Penzone of Men, Women & Children. They are supposed to have an album coming out in 2013.

That said, Absolute-Punk is reporting that one of their inside sources “hinted at a Glassjaw/Skate and Surf announcement and ticket bundle sale Christmas Day“. At least that lets …

Color Film, the latest side project of Glassjaw‘s Daryl Palumbo and Former Men, Women, And Children member Richard Penzone, have released a stream of a new song entitled, “Bad Saint.” The song is taken from the group’s debut album, Living Arrangements, which appears to be scheduled for a release in early 2013. You can stream the song after the jump.

As we previously reported, Color Film are performing live for the first time this coming Thursday, October 18, at Irving Plaza in NYC as part of CMJ. The group have made public their desire to play more shows …

Glassjaw Frontman Launches New Project, Guests On Nick Hook Track

Glassjaw Frontman Daryl Palumbo has launched a new music project by the name of Color Film. I’m not crazy about that name, but hey, Head Automatica didn’t strike me the first time either.

Anyways, Palumbo’s new project has yet to release any material of their own, but they’re already making headlines thanks to a new collaboration with Nick Hook. I have no idea who Nick Hook is, but you can stream the collaboration between these two artists over on ScionAV.

Rounding out the lineup for Color Film is Richard Penzone of Men, Women & Children. The duo have one …

Drop Everything & Watch This Brand New 30-Minute Glassjaw DVD

Glassjaw have carved themselves a wonderfully introverted niche in the modern music market. They record when they want, tour when they want, and release new material however the hell they damn well please. Some may think it’s crazy at times, and today’s post certainly justifies it, but it’s also quite possibly the most “rock and roll” thing happening right now in the alternative scene.

During a recent live event, Glassjaw distributed copies of a never-before-released DVD along with purchases of their relatively new Coloring Book EP. One diehard fan knew the rest of the world would be jealous and took …
