Fun Fun Fun Fest Announce 2012 Lineup

November 2 through November 4, Austin, Texas is the place to be. With Fun Fun Fun Fest pulling into Auditorium Shores with a army of killer bands, music fans will be hard pressed to find a more entertaining weekend anywhere in the nation.

The festival will feature such high profile and notable bands as Run DMC, A$AP Rocky, Girl Talk, Santigold, Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeros, Explosions in the Sky, Superchunk, Minus the Bear, Against Me!, Japandroids, Helio Sequence, The Promise Ring, Sharon Van Etton and The Sword. The ADD mash-up monster Greg Gillis, known to the world as Girl Talk, made his name with the 2006 album Night Ripper, a marathon of chopped-up pop samples that moved so quickly between songs and genres that we all had to struggle to keep up. On December 8, Illegal Art will issue Night Ripper on vinyl for the first time (180-gram double LPs, that is), so we’ll really be able to hear every sonic detail of that Biggie Smalls/Elton John meeting of the minds.

I feel the need to start this review off with a short message about concert etiquette. I feel that people may have forgotten some fundamentals. I have never before been to a venue that decided to serve glass bottles of beer at a sold out show. Glass is dangerous. Please put your bottles back on the bar and not on the floor, or worse, dump your beer all over our heads and then throw it on the floor. Also, ladies, please start taking hair ties to shows.
