United Nations (Glassjaw, ex-Thursday) Now Features Members Of Pianos Become The Teeth

United Nations is a side project that, to the public’s knowledge, mainly consists of Daryl Palumbo (primarily known as Glassjaw‘s front man) and Geoff Rickly (the former vocalist for Thursday). Recently, they sent a so-called “transmission” to Alternative Press to announce a show and the addition of two unspecified members of Pianos Become The Teeth.

It reads: “In January of 2009 United Nations played their first show at the Black Cat in Washington, D.C. on inauguration day to usher in a new era of change. Now four years later the band are returning to the nation’s

Acoustic Basement Tour Dates Announced, Geoff Rickly and Vinnie Caruana Headline

Way back in March, we found out that Warped Tour had a new acoustic stage called The Acoustic Basement. Now, the idea is going on tour separately, with Geoff Rickly (ex-vocalist for Thursday), Vinnie Caruana (singer for I am the Avalanche, Peace’d Out, and The Movielife), A Loss For Words, Koji, and Brian Marquis all playing.

The tour stops at some of my favorite small venues (the first two stops, at the Marlin Room at Webster Hall in New York City and The Space in Hamden, Connecticut, are at my two favorite places to …

DOWNLOAD: Ex-Thursday Vocalist, Geoff Rickly, Offers Free Mixtape

Ex-Thursday vocalist, Geoff Rickly, is carrying the torch in the wake of Thursday’s demise. He’s offering a free mixtape of his current musical endeavors to all his adoring fans.

“There are no strings attached, no hidden marketing games. This doesn’t reflect my belief that music should be free or any desire to revolutionize an industry. I just want to do this myself, for now. No art-by-committee, no selling music,” Rickly says of the release. “Just me & my friends at home, making songs(bedroom songs, songs not too polished up). I’ll keep making more of these and giving them to …

Geoff Rickly, Zena Rd., & Terrible Things Announce House Show Tour

Geoff Rickly (ex-Thursday), Zena Road (from Texas is the Reason), and Fred Mascherino‘s Terrible Things (ex-Taking Back Sunday, The Color Fred) have announced a house show tour of the northeastern US for November and early December.

House shows are becoming more common as labels, managers, and artists are exploring better ways to make money – and hosting acoustic and quieter shows in the privacy of a fan’s home is one of these ways. It’s actually been a staple of David Bazan & Undertow Management for years.

You could host a house show yourself by …

LIVE VIDEO: Geoff Rickly – “Understanding in a Car Crash (Acoustic)”

Geoff Rickly (Ex-Thursday… man that’s weird write ex-Thursday) recently played a solo show in Philadelphia, and the venue was courteous enough to record arguably one of their best tracks, “Understanding in a Car Crash” on video! The band recently called it a day, but the lead singer has been playing solo shows here and there for fans.

Geoff sounds as good as ever, and while the video is fantastic, it breaks our hearts at UTG to see him play like this because Thursday was such a monumental band for not only the punk scene but the site as well.
