UTG PHOTOS: Twenty One Pilots (4/6/13)

Under The Gun’s photographer, Tori Thomas attended the Twenty One Pilots show featuring Five Knives & Kaleido at The Crofoot in Pontiac, MI on April 6, 2013.

I had the pleasure to attend the MTV Artists to Watch tour featuring Twenty One Pilots, Five Knives and Kaleido. The show started with Detroit natives, Kaleido, a pop rock group. Christina, singer, brought energy to the crowd and got everyone amped for the show. This band was definitely a ball of energy, which was great in their case. Next up was Five Knives, an electronic pop group with a different …

REVIEW: Paramore – Self-Titled

Band: Paramore
Album: Paramore
Label: Fueled By Ramen

There is plenty to cover with this introduction. I could start by mentioning how it’s been nearly four years since Paramore released their last full length effort, Brand New Eyes. I could say that because of various momentum hits, like the Farro brothers’ departure under the most shocking and inamicable of circumstances, the Tennessee group have become but an afterthought to longtime fans. Haley Williams has even gone on as far to say that this self-titled record is a statement, one that’s not just limited externally to the world, but …

REVIEW: A Rocket to the Moon – Wild & Free

Artist: A Rocket to the Moon
Album: Wild & Free
Genre: Pop/rock
Label: Fueled by Ramen

A Rocket to the Moon would have you believe they’re a rock band going by their description of themselves, but don’t believe it for a second. This is pure, polished, technicolour pop of the highest order. Not that this means it’s of particularly high quality, but rather that it is almost commendably shameless in its pursuit of feelgood frolics. The band sound remarkably like a male version of Taylor Swift. Indeed, were you to take her songs through a plasticine factory and hack up …

Yesterday we posted a stream of a lyric video of Paramore’s latest single, “Still Into You”, and today we follow that up with a clip taken from the band’s first ever live performance of the song at SXSW.

Two days into SXSW, and it seems obvious that Paramore‘s antics have been in full swing. The game changing pop-rock act will be releasing their self-titled album on April 9, 2013 through Fueled By Ramen.

STREAM: Paramore – “Still Into You”

Shortly after the band’s SXSW set at The Belmont, Paramore launched a stream of “Still Into You”, the second single off of the band’s self titled album to be released on April 9.

The song follows the same sonic-direction that’s been shown through their first single off of Paramore, “Now”, and tells the story of Hayley Williams’ longtime relationship with New Found Glory‘s Chad Gilbert.

According to MTV, the trio plans to shoot a music video for the track in Austin, TX later this week.

MUSIC VIDEO: Fun. – “Why Am I The One”

Fun. have had an absolutely spectacular year. Little did many know that the indie-pop 3 piece would walk away from the Grammy’s with not one, but two awards. Furthermore, they walked in with 6 nominations for their work on Some Nights.

Now releasing “Why Am I the One” as their 4th single from their sophomore full length, the band has finally allowed us to lay eyes on the visuals they’ve made for the tune.

Fall Out Boy Performance Of “Calm Before The Storm” From 2002

It is that time of the week where UTG reveals another clip from Fall Out Boy‘s 2002 show in Buffalo.

Slowly but surely this set has had individual performances leaked on the internet and we honestly cannot get enough of them. Watch a video, from the same set, of Fall Out Boy performing their single “Saturday” as well. These events were not meant to stay in the past. Thank goodness for the digital age.

REVIEW: twenty | one | pilots – Vessel

Artist: twenty | one | pilots
Album: Vessel
Genre: ‘Schizoid pop’
Label: Fueled By Ramen

Schizoid pop is one way of putting it. Vessel is a baptism of fire if, like me, you weren’t heretofore familiar with twenty | one | pilots, but it’s a gloriously rewarding one. Mangling genres in this manner can go one of two ways – it can all become a cacophonous mess that makes you want to rip your headphones into shreds, or it can become an eclectic, eccentric marriage of invention and ingenuity. Vessel, needless to say, belongs in the latter category. …

Paramore Tease Comeback Single “Now”

Fueled By Ramen is making sure everyone is well aware of the impending return of Paramore with the release of a new promotional video for the group’s comeback single, “Now.” There is not too much in terms of new music to be heard in the clip, in fact I would wager only about :15 (at max) will appear on the actual song, but the visuals do provide some fun insight into the recording process through the use of behind-the-scenes footage. You can view the clip by clicking through the “Read more” link below.
