WATCH: Dave Grohl, Rick Springfield, And John Fogerty Cover Creedence Clearwater Revival And Perform A ‘Sound City’ Original On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

Dave Grohl’s promotion junket for his Sound City documentary seems never ending and we don’t have a problem with that. We reported a few weeks back when the frontman of the recently reactivated Foo Fighters appeared on Chelsea Lately to pique the brain of Sir Elton John.

But Grohl and some of his fellow Sound City Players – in particular, John Fogerty and Rick Springfield – came together last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to bang out a few tracks.

The trio ripped through two songs on the late night show, a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s anthem “Fortunate Son” …

Dave Grohl States That Work On The Next Foo Fighters Will Begin This Week, Confirms End Of Hiatus

Well that was fast.

Dave Grohl, svengali of rock outfit Foo Fighters, has made it clear that his group’s hiatus is over. On February 20, while on stage at The BRIT Awards in London, Grohl told James Corden, the host of the event, “I return to Los Angeles tomorrow to start work on a Foo Fighters record”.

This isn’t completely shocking news. Grohl has hinted in recent weeks at upcoming activity from the Fighters. In January, while promoting his Sound City documentary at Sundance, Grohl told MTV that, “But we have a plan, we know exactly what’s …

STREAM: Surfer Blood – “Weird Shapes”

Indie power-poppers Surfer Blood released their debut, Astro Coast, a little over three years ago. But it feels like so much longer, doesn’t it?

Well the boys in the Brooklyn via Florida have been busy prepping their followup LP,Pythons, over the past couple months. Instead of going it alone, they’re working with some heavy hitters this time around. Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World) produced the whole shebang while Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Kevin Devine, Saves The Day) helmed the mixing boards.

See if you can hear the influence of Surfer …

Foo Fighters Are Still On A Break, But That Isn’t Stopping Dave Grohl From Plotting Their Next Album

He was vague, but vague is better than nothing.

MTV News managed to catch up with Dave Grohl in Park City, UT. In town for Sundance, Grohl has been busy the past few weeks promoting his Sound City documentary, putting on live concerts featuring some of his famous rock and roll compatriots who appeared in the film. Sounds like a sweet gig! But to hear Grohl tell it, he’s ready to get back to work with the Foos.

“But we have a plan, we know exactly what’s coming next,” said Grohl in regards to future Foo Fighters’ plans. “And I …

Dinosaur Pile Up

DOWNLOAD: Dinosaur Pile-Up – “Lip Hook Kiss”

Dinosaur Pile-Up may not be a name everybody recognizes at this point, but they should be, in our opinion. One Matt Bigland used to be the guitarist and singer for Mother Vulpine, who were on a major rise in popularity when they broke up; he is now the every man for DPU. (Pulled Apart By Horses is also a project to come out of the demise of Mother Vulpine.) He acts like Dave Grohl to the Foo Fighter’s first album, playing everything himself on their first album, and the band even sounds like a Foo Fighters from the UK.…

Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players Members Announced

Dave Grohl has let the cat out of the bag on his one-off supergroup, and the lineup is jam packed with stars. It unsurprisingly includes, according to NME, members of the Foo Fighters (Dave himself, drummer Taylor Hawkins, guitarist Chris Shiflett, and bassist and Sunny Day Real Estate member Nate Mendel), Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, CCR frontman John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks, and former Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Alan Johannes, among others. Judging by how there are multiple singers, multiple drummers, and multiple bassists, I would guess that the lineup will …

B.o.B. Has A New Hip-Hop Album And A Rock EP In The Works

2012 isn’t over yet, but rapper B.o.B., real name Bobby Ray, is already planning on doing 2013 big.

During an appearance on Sway in the Morning, B.o.B. dished on some of his upcoming projects for the new year. Can you believe he’s going to put out his third album some time in the next twelve months? I mean, his sophomore release Strange Clouds just came out this past May. But that’s not all.

“2013 I would expect an album from B.o.B. and a rock EP as well,” said Ray, referring to himself in the third person. Wow, exciting! Maybe …

HOLY SH!T: Dave Grohl Rejoins Queens Of The Stone Age

Rumors began swirling early this morning that Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl had rejoined rock act Queen Of The Stone Age and UTG could not be more excited to confirm that this information is indeed true. Fallon and the band have been quite busy lately, yesterday releasing a new music video for their song “Here Come My Man”, and extensive touring throughout the fall in support of their latest album Handwritten. Be sure to head through the jump to check out Fallon’s take on one of the greatest …

Foo Fighters Serious About Hiatus, But Aren’t Over

Earlier this week, there was some uproar over whether the Foo Fighters were over on hiatus.

Dave Grohl has clarified his position, and the band has no plans for a long time, but definitely isn’t over, it seems.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think Foo Fighters would make it this far. I never thought we COULD make it this far, to be honest. There were times when I didn’t think the band would survive. There were times when I wanted to give up. But… I can’t give up this band. And I never will. Because it’s not

The Foo Fighters To Call It A Day?

This post has been edited with a new title to reflect the speculation at time of posting. A declarative title like “Foo Fighters To Break Up” was a poor choice for the situation and we recognize that.

Last night before playing, Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl said “Without making a big deal out of it, we don’t have any shows after this. This is it, man. We don’t have any after this. This is the show where we come out and we play as many songs as we can in a short period of time. And honestly, I
