New Years Day Announce New EP, Stream Lead Single

New Years Day have made some big changes since the release of their debut album My Dear back in 2007. The new song the band released today is the perfect example of how the band has truly changed since their inception. In addition to the single release, the band announced a brand new EP, titled Epidemic. The single they dropped, which is titled “Other Side,” can be streamed beneath the break.

“Other Side” is a departure from the sound the band crafted on their previous album. Though the music on that album was a little on the darker side, …

Courtesy Drop - Stabilize

Courtesy Drop Release New Single Off of Upcoming ‘Stabilize’ EP

Not even a full year has passed since the release of Courtesy Drop‘s stellar Songs To Drive To; Cry And Make Love To, and the Nashville emo group have already announced their follow-up effort, an EP titled Stabilize.

BrooklynVegan have put up a killer stream of the record’s lead single, “Orion,” which can be found following the jump, along with a tracklisting. Although the band’s already shared that this album will definitely have its fair share of softer moments, this single definitely sounds more hard-hitting than Courtesy Drop’s most recent work.

Stabilize will be released on October 28 …

Self Defense Family 2014

Listen To Caroline Corrigan Sing On Self Defense Family’s Latest Track, “Cancel Man”

Self Defense Family are amongst the most enigmatic musical acts of our time, and they clearly wouldn’t have it any other way.

Fresh off the heels of their split that they’ve put out with Meredith Hunter (aka, SDF’s alter-ego) – which was already the band’s second release of 2014 following their full length Deathwish Inc album, Try Me – the group have recently announced the release of their latest EP, Duets. For the EP, the band has chosen to collaborate with vocalist Caroline Corrigan of whom some might remember from past songs like “Mistress Appears at Funeral” and “Marissa Wendolvske,” …

Light Years

Light Years Stream ‘Temporary’ EP

Cleveland’s Light Years are arguably one of the most underrated acts in the realm of pop-punk, and if you don’t believe us when we say that, take sixteen minutes of your time to listen to their new Will Yip-produced EP, Temporary.

Featuring a more mature and natural sound than that of their modern-day counterparts, Light Years have carved out their niche. Thanks to Animal Style Records, Temporary has become a reality, and thanks to Pure Volume, the record is streaming five days in advance of its September 9 release date.

REVIEW: Slaughter Beach (Jake Ewald of Modern Baseball) – ‘Dawg’ EP

Artist: Slaughter Beach
Title: Dawg EP
Genre: Emo, Alt-Punk

The question of why artists don’t just put out their far from flawless mini collection of songs they hastily write while on the subway or at a McDonalds always crossed my mind. Why do we always have to expect these things to come in shiny packages and red bows? Why can’t we receive the same presents in a barely-96kbps-“is-this-the-demo?” format? Luckily for us curious folks, Jake Ewald of Modern Baseball appears to share similar sentiments. He recently, under the name of Slaughter Beach, unexpectedly put out a three-track EP, entitled Dawg,

Our Last Night

MUSIC VIDEO: Our Last Night – “Falling Away”

Our Last Night have released a music video for their single “Falling Away.” The band made the video very personal, and showed a side of one of their members you don’t get to see very often. The video features frontman brothers Matt and Trevor Wentworth singing the lyrics back and forth, but it focuses mostly on Trevor. He’s either sitting, longingly staring out a window or playing on the beach with his son. The song talks about having to be away from friends and family all the time, so it makes sense the video embodies that feeling. You can watch …
