UTG LIST: Pixar Movies We Want to See Sequels To

You have to really be careful how you word things, because it can get many hopes up. Talking to you, Bob Iger, Disney CEO. Last week Bob mentioned in a conference call that Pixar has “fantastic original stories as well as some great sequels to their previous hits.” That’s not just sequel, which is Finding Nemo’s Finding Dory due out November 2015. That alludes to some other movies in the works, right?

It makes you wonder what they have up their sleeves for some of the movies we already know we love. So here are five movies that we …

SCENE & HEARD: Iron Man 3

Written by UTG critic Grace DuffyScene & Heard takes a look at the music that makes our favorite films so memorable. Whether it’s the 400-piece orchestra Christopher Nolan used for The Dark Knight, or the dozen or so bands that contributed to the soundtrack of Top Gun, there is no denying the impact music has on movies and this column hopes to highlight the best of the best.

What kind of music do you think of when you picture Tony Stark? Leaving aside the various band tees the man has sported in his four cinematic outings to date, …

Downton Abbey Star Lily James Cast As Cinderella In Disney’s Upcoming Live-Action Film

Disney searched for months (probably years) to find the perfect foot for their glass slipper, and in the end Downton Abbey‘s Lily James was chosen as the perfect fit.

In an announcement made around 2pm EST today, Disney confirmed plans to move forward with a live-action adaptation of Cinderella starring actress Lily James. Kenneth Branagh is directing and Cate Blanchett will play the manipulative stepmother. Allison Shearmur, David Barron and Simon Kinberg are producing.

Cinderella was first published by Charles Perrault in Histoires ou contes du temps passé in 1697, and later by the Brothers Grimm in their folk …

‘Star Wars’ Coming to a Theater Near You Every Summer Starting 2015

Disney and Lucasfilm announced today at CinemaCon that Star Wars: Episode VII will be coming out in the Summer of 2015. This was expected, but here’s the twist: after Episode VII comes out, Disney will put out a Star Wars film EVERY Summer. Yes, every single Summer. How is that possible production wise? Well let me break it down:

In the Summer of 2015, we’ll be getting an “Episode” Star Wars film that concerns the greater Star Wars universe. Then the next year in 2016 viewers will get to see a solo film based on a single character (rumor is …

MOVIE REVIEW: Oz The Great And Powerful

Film: Oz The Great And Powerful
Directed by: Sam Raimi
Starring: James Franco, Mila Kunis

Oz The Great And Powerful offers plenty of reasons to shell out a few extra bucks for 3D and features a number of memorable performances, but ultimately falls apart due to a thin script and a runtime twenty minutes too long.

Taking as many cues from the original as it can without ever feeling so familiar it’s boring, Oz The Great And Powerful starts off duller than any Disney release in recent memory. The film opens in black and white (a nod to the original) …

NOT A JOKE: Love ‘Cars’? Here’s Your First Look At Disney’s ‘Planes’

You know a spinoff film is destined for greatness when one of the companies behind the original is no longer involved, nor any of the original cast, and the release was bumped from Direct-To-DVD to theatrical. Such is the case with Disney’s upcoming animated feature, Planes.

Made without the help of Pixar, who famously saw a dip in their popularity with the release of Cars, Disney’s Planes hopes to kickstart a new franchise (aka vehicle for toy sales) that will take everyone’s love of talking machinery to the skies. The film was originally scheduled to arrive Direct-To-DVD in …

Mark Hamill in the Talks to Reprise his Role as Luke Skywalker in New Star Wars Film

Not surprising but nevertheless exciting: the hero of the original Star Wars trilogy, Mark Hamill, is in the talks to return to his character of Luke Skywalker in the newest Star Wars film. According to Entertainment Weekly, Hamill has been waiting to meet with writer Michael Ardnt and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy about what his involvement would be like in the film, but everyone has been really busy because, you know, they’re in the process of making a new Star Wars film and things get hectic.

That being said, Hamill is really interested in putting his jedi cloak back …

RUMOR: Disney Pixar Planning 2015 Release For ‘Toy Story 4,’ Tim Allen and Tom Hanks To Return

In an age where sequels are greenlit before official numbers are in for a film’s opening weekend, it may seem peculiar to some that Pixar have yet to speak of plans to continue their ever-popular Toy Story series. The third installment was one of the most successful animated films of all time, and it’s not like Disney to let one of their best-selling franchises go to pasture before their time. That said, the end of the last film pretty much said all there was to say about the adventures of Buzz and Woody, right?

Apparently not.

According to a Columbian …

RUMOR: Harrison Ford Confirmed for Star Wars: Episode VII

Well now that we have a director confirmed, it’s time for an onslaught of casting rumors. Latino Review (who all things considered is a relatively trustworthy source) has announced that director J.J. Abrams has confirmed Harrison Ford to reprise his role as Han Solo in the next installment in the Stars Wars series.

Now, I know most Star Wars fans are hyperventilating, and I just caught my breath too. But until I hear it directly from Disney themselves, I’m going to take every rumor with a huge grain of salt. However this casting rumor isn’t totally unreasonable. Harrison Ford has …

RUMOR: Darth Vader Returns From Dead, Fans Die of Sadness

I absolutely hate that Star Wars got announced for new movies purely because there’s loads and loads of rumors flying around that probably have little to no substantiating evidence. Alas, UTG is a group of Star Wars nerds, and we are going to cover a lot of those rumors. But we promise to at least be a little snarky in the process.

Today’s rumor from UK tabloid (the only reason I’m running something from a tabloid is because respected /Film ran it too) is that Darth Vader will return from the grave in the new Star Wars trilogy. Yes, you …

STREAM: Owl City – “Feeder”

Adam Young of Owl City has released a new track entitled “Feeder” on his SoundCloud page.

Unlike Young’s most recent and somewhat controversial single, “Good Time” featuring Carly Rae Jepsen, or “When Can I See You Again?” featured on Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph soundtrack, “Feeder” is a short track that’s dark, creepy and generally unlike anything Young has released before.

“Feeder” can be streamed below. Who knows? May the track will find it’s way onto an upcoming Owl City album.
