STREAM: The Swellers – “Bad News” (Demo)

The Swellers have taken a moment from writing their upcoming fourth full length to release a song through No Sleep Records’ YouTube page for the sake of giving fans a taste of what’s to come

Even though it’s purely a demo and may never officially make an appearance on subsequent releases, “Bad News” surely shows some progression in the band. The quartet’s drummer, Jonathan Diener picks up the mic in place of his brother for the first time ever and really gives his all for his performance that leaves me personally wondering why he hasn’t done so sooner.

STREAM: Rage Against The Machine – “Mindset’s A Threat”

Fellow Buzzmedia music site SPIN have got a stream off the upcoming Rage Against The Machine re-release, XX. We’ve got it embedded here, but you can still enter to win a free copy of the deluxe box set here. The song, “Mindset’s a Threat”, is clearly from before the original demo, as the lyrics reference the time of the early 90s. It still features a crazy guitar solo though.

Tom Morello recently said that Rage was not working on any new music, nor had any future plans for touring. For a band with nothing going on whatsoever, there’s …

Rites of Spring Releases ‘Six Song Demo’

Emo pioneers Rites of Spring had members that would later go on to join post-hardcore pioneer band Fugazi, and will always be remembered as one of the first emo bands (as well as naming a band after a Stravinsky ballet, if that’s your thing.) Now, Dischord Records are releasing their original Six Song Demo on 10″, CD, and download.

The demos were originally recorded at Ian MacKaye’s Inner Ear Studio. Considering they were never formally released to the public, this will be the first time the masses can really hear the sound as it started. You can order it …
