UTG PHOTOS: Incubus & Deftones in Camden, NJ (8/8/15)

It’s a tour package you dream of as you listen to Mike Enzinger’s cutting riff at the start of “Circles” from Incubus‘ 2001 album, Morning View, or when you’re opening up the vinyl packaging from Deftones‘ acclaimed White Pony. Liken it to the “band” version of fantasy football where you pick two of your favorite bands to go on a co-headlining tour. If you look at it, Incubus and Deftones are on that similar path from being veteran bands who will release music that fans will always resonate with. Hits on hits on hits. To say …

UTG LIST: The 8 Most Out-Of-This-World Tech N9ne Collaborations

Tech N9ne dropped his prolific and genre-pushing new LP, Special Effects, yesterday — proving this tenured rapper’s best work is still ahead of him. The record is frantic and transparent on tracks like “Aw Yeah? (Intervention),” belligerent and obscure on songs like “Hood Go Crazy,” and downright strange on songs like “Roadkill.”

One thing the record does not fall short on are guest spots. Tech, the entrepreneur and co-founder of Strange Music, enlisted the likes of Eminem, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Lil Wayne, E-40, T.I., B.o.B., Hopsin, and many others on Special Effects. So, that leads to the …

Deftones Announce New Album To Be Released In September

While recently visiting this past weekend’s edition of BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter, Deftones frontman Chino Moreno commented that the band’s new album would be released on September 25. During his visit to BBC 1, Moreno had this to say about the direction of the album:

“The record, as far as music, has been all recorded, and I am currently working on the vocals,” he stated. “So I’ve been recording from my home studio here in Oregon. Slowly but surely, [we’re] getting it done, man. It’s coming out really good. It’s just another Deftones …

Canada’s Amnesia Rockfest Announces 2015 Lineup, Thrice Fans Everywhere Rejoice

Monetebello, Canada’s Amnesia Rockfest has slowly grown into the annual envy of fans of any type of loud music across the globe. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year, the festival has just announced another typically strong lineup headlined by massive names like Linkin Park, System of a Down, The Offspring and Slayer. But as far as Thrice fans are concerned, there’s only one band on the bill.

After teasing a return with their cryptic THRICE 2015 Instagram post in December, this announcement marks the band’s first scheduled show since playing the final date of their farewell tour in June 2012. …

Team Sleep

Team Sleep (Deftones, ex-Death Grips) Reunite For New Album

After years of being in their respective bands — Chino Moreno with Deftones and drummer Zach Hill recently ending Death Grips — the two have come together to re-create experimental supergroup Team Sleep.

The band have announced their reunion officially in stating that they will be recording a new album, their first one since their 2005 self-titled debut. Along with this, they will be inviting people to join them in the recording process of the album on October 17 & 18, including a listening party and Q&A session along with a bonus live performance of their material.

Blaqk Audio Remix Crosses †††’s “†elepa†hy”

Well this makes sense.

That’s not sarcasm, by the way. Blaqk Audio (Davey Havok and Jude Puget of AFI) have a very similar dark and dreary vibe to Crosses †††, which, as you should know by now, consists of Deftones’ Chino Moreno, Far’s Shaun Lopez, and Chuck Doom. The trio dropped their debut full-length LP earlier this year via Sumerian Records, which was more or less a compilation of all 15 tracks from their three previously released EPs, aptly titled EP †, EP ††, and EP †††, respectively.

Today, we’ve been graced with a remix, premiering …

Deftones Stream Unreleased ‘Eros’ Track, “Smile”

“We move together. We cruise till the end.”

One year ago today, Deftones bassist Chi Cheng passed away in Sacramento, CA. Today, the band has uploaded a track from Eros, the final Deftones album that included Cheng and was ultimately shelved due to his passing.

Frontman Chino Moreno decided to share “Smile” as a tribute to Cheng, an integral part of Deftones and one of its founding members. On Twitter, the vocalist stated, “Chi, We miss you today and everyday.” with a link to the track included which you can stream after the jump.

As for the fate …

WATCH: Crosses (†††) – “The Epilogue”

Crosses (†††) have released an eerie new video for their track “The Epilogue,” off of their recently released LP, Crosses, out now on Sumerian Records.

Featuring Shaun Lopez of Far, and Chino Moreno of Deftones, Crosses (†††) is a dream pop infused delve into indie rock, and the recently released video certainly attests to that. Featuring static images, blurred figures, and surreal storytelling, the video for “The Epilogue” is a fitting physical portrayal of the band.

Continuing with the creepy aspects presented in their video for “Bi†ches Brew,” it seems that the band is solidifying a visual landscape for …

Deftones Announce US Shows (Mostly In Texas)

Deftones may have recently teased some efforts in the studio, but today we learned that the band behind Koi No Yokan will be hitting the road again much sooner than we previously thought.

According to a number of online concert listings, Deftones have lined up a week of performances for the end of May 2014. The dates and list of venues, which mostly reside in the great state of Texas, can be found below.

It would be pretty damn cool if Deftones managed to get a new album to fans before the end of the year, but we are …

Free Press Summer Fest Reveals Ridiculous Lineup

Houston’s Free Press Summer Fest (FPSF) announced its lineup today, and it’s a doozy. The two-day festival will be held on May 31-June 1 and features Jack White and Vampire Weekend in the headlining slots along with a rather eclectic undercard.

This is Jack White’s second announced festival gig as he was previously announced to headline New York’s Governors Ball, which will take place the weekend after FPSF. I hope it isn’t out of line to hope for a full summer tour at this point. As for Vampire Weekend, they’ve already announced a slew of tour dates and festival …
