Sledding With Tigers Stream Debut Album

The wait is over!

After months of promotion and a handful of track premieres, Sledding With Tigers have partnered with PropertyOfZack to stream their debut album, A Necessary Bummer, in full ahead of its April 15 release date.

Featuring 10 songs on topics ranging from love and life, to the need to escape it all through hours of NPR programming, A Necessary Bummer is unlike any other released in 2014 to date. Singer/Songwriter Dan Faughdner is able to be both brash and cute with his songwriting, creating an infectious mix of poignant perspectives on life in your 20s that …

Stream Two Knights’ Debut LP ‘Shut Up’

Out of Denton, TX comes emo duo Two Knights. Before we get all up in arms discussing what qualifies as “emo,” take a listen to this band’s music. Their debut album, Shut Up, is streaming a week early before its release on April 8 via Count Your Lucky Stars and it’s top notch.

These two dudes merge the math goodness of Cap’n Jazz with the recklessness of Algernon Cadwallader to form their own sound that will keep you hitting play as soon as you finish the first run through. There are a ton of influences all over this record, …

Stream SOHN’s Debut Album ‘Tremors’

Vienna-based electronic musician and producer SOHN has taken to iTunes to stream his debut album in its entirety one week before it drops.

The album, called Tremors, comes out April 7 on 4AD. On first listen, be ready to welcome some synth-fuzzed beats and simple keys. His vocals soar on his debut the way his previous singles would imply. Give it a listen in full over at iTunes.

Watch SOHN perform “Artifice” in a 4AD session below, too.…

Stream Debut Album from Sisyphus (Sufjan Stevens, Son Lux, Serengeti)

In ten days, Sisyphus–folk lord Sufjan Stevens, Chicago rapper Serengeti, and electronic composer Son Lux–will release their self-titled debut via Asthmatic Kitty/Joyful Noise. We’ve heard some of the singles along the way, but now the full LP can be heard below thanks to The Guardian.

Formerly known as s/s/s, the trio released a 2012 EP titled Beak & Claw but have not put out any work since then. Barely a year later, their self-titled debut full-length came together in “a red wine-fueled three weeks” according to Stevens, despite having “so little in common.” The result is what you …

Glass Animals Gooey

Watch Glass Animals’ “Gooey” Music Video

Oxford indie rockers Glass Animals‘ new music video for “Gooey” has some interesting imagery, taking gentle pop and running off into liquid healing powers, pretty lighting, and wrestling fellows in an abandoned house.

Directed by The Apiary (Lily Coates & Gavin Youngs), the music video has a strange narrative that will keep you glued to the screen, waiting to see how it all connects. It’s definitely different than their eerie and semi-disturbing video for “Psylla.” Instead, the four minute sticky video acts like a celebration of life and all the fluids it’s made of.

We hope our …

Duck Sauce Quack

Duck Sauce (A-Trak and Armand Van Helden) Announce Debut Album ‘Quack’

Remember that Barbara Streisand song? The one that got played in every commercial and people would always sing along to? That single was the magic of DJ duo Duck Sauce, aka A-Trak and Armand Van Helden, two fellows who never actually put out an album.

Now the two are ready to share their debut LP, a record we hope will be as chock full of hits as the ones they’ve already made. The album, called Quack, comes out April 15 through Fool’s Gold. Included on the album are the singles “aNYway,” “Barbra Streisand,” and “It’s You.”

Skrillex Debuts New Collaboration With Chance the Rapper

Skrillex recently treated fans in Brooklyn to the debut of a new collaboration with Chicago artist Chance The Rapper. Lucky for us, someone caught the whole thing on video.

Halfway through his set last night, Skrillex checked in with fans before transitioning into the world premiere of a brand new track featuring Acid Rap star Chance The Rapper. It’s likely the product of the pair’s recent studio time with Mike Will Made It, but at this time that information is impossible to confirm. What we do know is that the track sounds awesome, and those hungry for a taste …

Sleep On It

UTG PREMIERE: Sleep On It – “Cope”

If you’re into pop-punk and brutal honesty, allow us to introduce you to Sleep On It. This five-piece ensemble has been rising through the ranks of Chicago’s scene and will be independently releasing their debut EP entitled Everything, All At Once on February 11.

The tracks were recorded in Chicago’s own Gravity Studios (Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack, Story Of The Year) for its obvious reputation for quality and streaks of good luck.

“Gravity Studios was a unique experience,” says guitarist/vocalist Jake Marquis. “We had a lot of fun, but it’s also a learning process. It was our …

The Flaming Lips Chocolate Skull Debut EP

The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne Touring Record Stores With Life-Size Chocolate Skulls Holding Debut EP

It’s quite difficult to hear news from The Flaming Lips and be surprised that you’re surprised. Frontman Wayne Coyne is heading out to hit up record stores in America this month for a meet-and-greet where he can sign copies of The Flaming Lips’ ridiculous new release: a chocolate skull containing the reissue of the band’s debut EP.

The 12″ green vinyl will be held inside a “hand-crafted, custom-made… anatomically correct and life-sized” skull made up of “quite a substantial amount of high-quality, gourmet chocolate.” Also inside will be a special Golden Coin that can be used to go to any …

Danny Brown

Watch Danny Brown Make His TV Debut on ‘Jimmy Kimmel’

If you’re still coming down from the Danny Brown high that was all of last year, don’t worry — we are, too. Brown saw his third full-length, Old, receive some serious attention, released numerous music videos, and debuted on remixes galore (like Vampire Weekend’s “Step“). What he has yet to do, however, is make his TV debut.. but now he’s checked that off his list.

Last night, Brown performed “25 Bucks” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! for his his first live performance on TV ever. He handled it well, not missing a single word while Purity Ring’s Megan …

UTG PREMIERE: Bornstellar – “Wake The World” (Lyric Video)

Today is a very exciting day at UTG HQ. Just a month after helping them announce of their existence, we have the good fortune of premiering the first single and lyric video from North Carolina hard rock outfit Bornstellar.

Featuring members of A Hero A Fake, Bornstellar is the latest hard rock band to make a splash on the national scene. They spent the fall of 2013 writing and recording their debut EP, which fans can expect to see released in the first half of this year, and “Wake The World” is the record’s first single. You can …

STREAM: Lushes – “Harsh”

Stereogum is premiering Lushes’ new single, “Harsh,” and we can’t help but find ourselves falling in love with it.

The Brooklyn post-rock duo is prepping What Am I Doing, their debut album produced by Annabel Alpers. It’s coming out March 4 through Felte, but this single makes us hope it’ll come out sooner.

The light guitar plucking on “Harsh” is reminiscent of El Ten Eleven and its playful banter between keyboard and drums nods to Menomena. It sounds simple, but the subtly layered track uses its conversational vocals to produce a rather intelligent sound that’s based in emotion. Trust us …
