Port Isla Perform “In The Long Run” In New Music Video

Looking for a new soft-rock band to enjoy as Fall comes to a close? Look no further than Norwich band (and one of our 5 artists to watch in 2014), Port Isla.

As the song’s title suggests, the group was in no hurry to slow down; especially since they are currently preparing a new EP, In The Long Run, which arrives on Nov. 23. The band is also currently on a sold-out tour supporting James Bay.

The official music video for the album’s title track, “In The Long Run,” which features a studio-performance by the band, made …

Azealia Banks Broke With Expensive Taste

Azealia Banks Finally Drops Her Debut Album, ‘Broke With Expensive Taste,’ and It’s Amazing

At long last, it’s finally here. After two years of label changes, Twitter feuds, and hip-hop drama, Harlem rapper Azealia Banks has dropped her debut LP, Broke With Expensive Taste. The surprise release sees Azealia Banks on top of her game and, surprisingly, it was well worth the wait.

Opener “Idle Delilah” starts things off right. The album is filled with all sorts of sly, infectious beats that see Banks rapping over them with ease while phone beeps, salsa twists, and guests spots are sprinkled throughout. Previously heard hits “212,” “Heavy Metal Reflective,” and “Yung

REVIEW: Gerard Way – ‘Hesitant Alien’

Artist: Gerard Way
Album: Hesitant Alien
Genre: Brit-Pop / Shoegaze
Label: Reprise Records

For certain people, there are always going to be artists who they check out no matter what type of project their name is attached to. For myself, Gerard Way is a name that I’m always going to pay attention to, no matter if he’s making music under My Chemical Romance, drawing something for DC Comics, or in this specific review’s case, making a Brit-Pop record. Here’s the thing: I’m not a huge Brit-Pop fan. It’s never been a genre that I’ve ever latched onto for whatever reason, …

The Story So Far

Snarl (Parker Cannon of The Story So Far) Stream Debut Demo

A few days back, The Story So Far’s Parker Cannon took to social media to announce the existence of Snarl, a hardcore side project that he planned to soon make a reality. We were as eager as anyone to hear what this new undertaking had to offer, and I’m pleased to report that after only two days, we have our answer. You can stream Snarl’s debut demo, via Bandcamp, after the break.

Featuring Cannon on guitar, bass, and vocals, and Cam Mcbain on drums, this gritty four-song attempt is a mere 5 minutes in length, and a far …

Gerard Way Announces Two Shows In Japan

Gerard Way will be making his way to Japan in February of 2015, following the upcoming September release of his debut solo album, Hesitant Alien.

The Japanese shows will take place first on February 16, 2015 in Osaka at the BIGCAT, and the second February 17, 2015 at Akasaka Blitz.

Two tracks have been released from Way’s highly anticipated debut thus far, and they both rule. Channeling vibes from British pop music, and a sonic catalogue from the ’60s, Hesitant Alien is something I am anxiously awaiting for release.

Follow us after the jump to check out “Action Cat” …

Jeremy Loops

UTG VIDEO PREMIERE: Jeremy Loops – “Sinner”

Every now and then, a folk artist comes our way that leaves us completely floored. In 2008, it was Fleet Foxes. In 2012, it was First Aid Kit. Now, in 2014, it’s Jeremy Loops.

Fresh out of Cape Town, South Africa, Jeremy Loops is a modern folk musician whose music is just now reaching our shores. While his debut album, Trading Change, has already debuted at #1 on his homeland’s iTunes chart, the 27-year-old is still beginning to form his place here in the US. The one-man folk act scratches up a percussive sound thanks to his loop pedal. …

Florida Georgia Line Anything Goes 2014

Florida Georgia Line Perform New Song “Anything Goes” In St. Louis (Video)

Country turned pop superstars Florida Georgia Line are less than two months from the release of their sophomore album, and to date only one song has been made available to the public. That is until the band played St. Louis over the weekend.

Performing in front of a sold out crowd on Saturday, August 23, Florida Georgia Line informed fans they simply could not wait any longer to share new material with their audience. Before long, a new song titled “Anything Goes” was introduced to a roaring response. We were not on site, but as soon as the band tweeted

Wand Ganglion Reef

Stream Wand’s Excellent Debut Album ‘Ganglion Reef’

LA-based four-piece Wand drop their garage rock debut, Ganglion Reef, next week via God? Records. The highly-anticipated release sees Cory Hanson (vocals, guitar, synth), Evan Burrows (drums), Daniel Martens (guitar), and Lee Landey (bass) burning a hole in the sun and letting their trippy pop songs sizzle out due to the heat of a band who’s truly on fire. To tease the release, they’re streaming the album in full over at Hype Machine.

We were caught off guard by their psychedelic lead single “Flying Golem” and again by the slow roll of “Broken Candle.” …

Ultimate Painting

Ultimate Painting’s Debut Single Is Your End of Summer Jam

We’re pretty sure we just found the only good thing about summer ending: a new single to soundtrack your final sunsets. Indie rock duo Ultimate Painting are putting out their self-titled debut on October 28 via Trouble In Mind, and lead single “Winter In Your Heart” is what we need right now.

If their voices sound familiar, that’s because Ultimate Painting is Jack Cooper from Mazes and James Hoare from Veronica Falls. The self-titled debut was recorded on tape in Hoare’s flat over the course of a few months, aiming to capture the beautiful simplicity of Ray Davies, early-70s New …

Mega Bog

Stream Mega Bog’s New Single “Cologne In The Night”

We were first introduced to Mega Bog with their brazen track “Year of Patience” after they announced their debut album, Gone Bananawould be out September 23 via Couple Skate. Now the lo-fi jazz rock group are ready to share a little more off the release, this time sharing “Cologne In The Night.”

A slow number that plays up the evening’s sultriness, “Cologne In The Night” sees Mega Bog seizing bathroom acoustics for a saxophone strut reminiscent of the ’80s. Frontwoman Erin Birgy sings with a pained tone that strikes with heartbroken familiarity, too. It’s dark, spacious, …

Stream Henrietta’s ‘The Trick Is Not Minding’ In Its Entirety

We had the great honor of premiering a song by Henrietta earlier this month, and to be perfectly honest I was unfamiliar with the band up to that point. Since that day, however, I have quickly fallen in love with everything Henrietta deliver through their music. It’s almost impossible to describe the way their upcoming album, The Trick Is Not Minding, makes me feel. Fortunately, thanks to Purevolume I no longer have to explain anything because I can simply share the record with all of you.

Today, the members of Henrietta partnered with Purevolume to launch a full album …
