The passing of Deftones original bassist Chi Cheng is still being processed by the music world, and now it seems we will have a chance to hear more of his work.

Country music legend George Jones has passed away at the age of 81 following a short hospital stay.

Jones was reportedly admitted to a hospital on April 18 with complaints of fever and irregular blood pressure, but no official cause of death has been released at this time.

REST IN PEACE: Divinyls Vocalist Chrissy Amphlett (1959-2013)

Sad news this morning as UTG has just learned pop music icon Chrissy Amphlett has passed away at the age of 53.

Amphlett, who is probably most well known for her work on the hit single “I Touch Myself” with The Divinyls, is survived by her loving husband. In the wake of her death he released a statement explaining, “Amphlett succumbed to the effects of breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.”

Fans first learned of Amphlett’s struggles with multiple sclerosis when she went public with the disease in 2007. News of her battle with breast cancer followed in 2010.

Deftones Release Statement on Chi’s Passing

It’s been nearly four years since Chi Cheng of Deftones suffered injuries from a car accident that had eventually resulted in his untimely passing on Saturday.

Words can’t describe the impact that Cheng had on the lives of hundreds, probably thousands of people. The band’s guitarist, Stephen Carpenter, made a statement courtesy of the California metal group for his former band mate and friend. Chi Cheng, Deftones Bassist Passes Away

We have some sad news to report tonight: it seems that Deftones bassist Chi Cheng has passed away.

After a car accident in Santa Clara, CA back in 2008, Chi suffered major injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. This accident left Cheng in a coma.

In 2010, the musician showed improvement, responding to commands and moving his legs. After showing more signs of rehabilitation, he was moved to his home for recovery.

Cheng died last night at 3am in the hospital. His family left the following note on a charity website made …

Within the last couple hours, a big media scare came about in the form of rumors surrounding speculations on the potential passing of Dwayne Michael Carter, otherwise known as Lil Wayne. Recently, Wayne was admitted into the hospital on this last Tuesday for violent seizures, was later released on Thursday, and was readmitted tonight. According to TMZ, Wayne’s mother is currently in flight to LA to give the yay/nay on her son’s life support.

After seven years of webcam chat services, Stickam has announced it will be shutting down permanently at 11:59PST tonight.

We have not covered a lot of technology on UTG, but the closure of Stickam is one move that is sure to shake things up within our community. Many artists, including UTG friend MOD SUN, have used Stickam for years as a way of further connecting with fans and friends around the globe, and its impending absence will leave a void (that services like UStream will quickly move to fill).

Suicide Silence Announce Benefit Show for Mitch Lucker’s Family

Metal group Suicide Silence announced the other day at California Metalfest that they will be putting on a benefit show for their late-singer Mitch Lucker’s daughter Kenadee educational fund. The show will be on December 21 at the Fox Theater in Pomona, CA, and Suicide Silence will perform with a different singer on each song, as a tribute to Mitch. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, November 30.
