Petite-Meller-Baby-Love

Petite Meller’s “Baby Love” Video Reminds Us Of Wes Anderson

We love great pop music around UTG, but truth be told coming across that kind of material is often a near impossible task. There is so much disposable music made for clubs and radio today that sifting through long enough to find something worthy of more than five replays is often a daunting proposition. Fortunately for you, such work is what we love to do, and today we have yet another promising young act to share.

Petite Meller is a name many don’t know yet, but it is only a matter of time before her latest single, “Baby Love,” finds …

Daft Punk Legos 2

Daft Punk Legos May Be On The Way

It looks like there will be more Daft Punk goodness in 2015 apart from a new documentary. The iconic electronic duo of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter may get turned into Lego figurines in the near future.

According to Radio.com, Lego’s Ideas page has a Daft Punk pitch with over 5,000 supporters. The idea includes a robot world of mini figurines, guitars, synths, mini pads, and a lighting rig (!), including sets inspired by their “Around The World” video and “ALIVE 2007? stage. Best of all, Lego seems open to the idea. “This project is speeding and …

Röyksopp & Robyn Share “Do It Again” Video

Swedish pop queen Robyn and Norwegian electronic duo Röyksopp teamed up earlier this year to release a collaborative mini-album titled Do It Again (out now on Dog Triumph, via Wall Of Sound/Cooking Vinyl). Back in April, they put out a lyric video for the album’s title track, but now the single has gotten a proper music video — and it was worth the wait.

Directed by Martin de Thurah, the “Do It Again” black and white video is a beautifully shot clip that takes place in Mexico and tells a huge story about oppression and rebuttal with the youth and …

La Roux Trouble In Paradise

Stream La Roux’s New Single “Uptight Downtown”

London’s synth-pop singer Elly Jackson, aka La Roux, won over the radio with her 2009 hit “Bulletproof.” Now she’s ready for her comeback. On July 8, La Roux’s sophomore album, Trouble in Paradise, comes out via Cherrytree / Interscope, but today we get to hear the first official single, “Uptight Downtown.”

La Roux is keeping up with the retro style, tossing ’70s disco with electro-pop and funk undertones. Considering it kicks the album off, “Uptight Downtown” has just the right amount of energy and intrigue to keep us on our toes for the next single.

Check out the …

Watch M.I.A.’s Flashy “Double Bubble Trouble” Music Video

Remember the end of last year when M.I.A. was discussing politics and performed “Y.A.L.A.” on The Colbert Report without going too too far? Oh, what a thing of the past.

In her new music video, M.I.A. has gone full Tumblr on us and created a flashy, blurred out, GIF-ready music video for “Double Bubble Trouble” off of Matangi. The video, which she directed, has a political edge sparred by 3D printed weapons and multi-screen shots. Who’s to say if the video will still be interesting come the end of the year, but for now it’s definitely got some …
