Earlier this week, I had the great fortune of screening a new documentary titled Rich Hill. The film, which played to critical and audience acclaim at a number of festivals near the beginning of the year, follows the lives of three young boys in one of the most poverty-stricken areas of rural Missouri. It’s the kind of story that grabs your heart strings from the opening credits and plucks them ever so tenderly until the credits begin to roll, but you’re so enthralled in the action taking place on screen you welcome the pain and joy all the same. …
A month ago, we caught wind of a new festival making its home in the center of Ohio. The Fashion Meets Music Festival.
So far, the festival boasts more than 500 performances, 250 artists, and 3 days in the Arena District of Columbus, OH. The lineup will be first announced this Thursday, March 27 at The Three-Legged Mare.
Before then, we want to give you a chance to guess at the bands booked for the fest and win a pair of badges for the after party! The rules are simple.

Quick, grab your guitar and set up your video camera. Bayside are asking fans to show them what “Time Has Come” sounds like… before they actually post the song for listeners to hear the original version. After sharing the lyrics and tabs for the song online, they’re looking to see what kind of unique interpretations fans will come up with. It’s like Beck’s Song Reader, only a little more achievable given how many musicians didn’t grow up learning how to read sheet music.
Bayside will be choose their three favorite videos at the end of January and reveal the …

If you’re a regular reader here on UTG, you may recall our praises of the indie horror film, Resolution, or our interview with its directors, Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, where we claimed Resolution to be “one of the most legitimately creepy and intense horror genre films we’ve seen in some time. Without any over the top visual effects and a unique twist on the supernatural theme, the sense of reality and terror in the film has certainly resonated with us and the film’s ending has led to some conversations amongst us that have seen it.”
The film was …

I don’t have to make a weak attempt at referencing the comic strip Garfield or the movie Office Space for you to understand that Mondays can be the worst. Most of us spend today returning to either school or work, which is something the majority of us would rather not be doing with our time, and it’s only the first time we’ll have to repeat this task in the coming days. Recognizing the potential horror that awaits any given Monday is something we all do, but UTG is here to help the week start a bit better for one lucky …
