Chi Cheng, Deftones Bassist Passes Away

We have some sad news to report tonight: it seems that Deftones bassist Chi Cheng has passed away.

After a car accident in Santa Clara, CA back in 2008, Chi suffered major injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. This accident left Cheng in a coma.

In 2010, the musician showed improvement, responding to commands and moving his legs. After showing more signs of rehabilitation, he was moved to his home for recovery.

Cheng died last night at 3am in the hospital. His family left the following note on a charity website made …

DAMMIT: Deftones’ Chi Cheng Diagnosed With Pneumonia, In ICU

This is a pretty shitty way to start the day.

News starting rolling in last night that Deftones’ bassist Chi Cheng, who has most recently been in a partially conscious state following a 2008 car accident, has been diagnosed with pneumonia. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the hospital and word on the street is that things are not looking good.

Thanks to OneLoveForChi, members of Cheng’s family have been able to share updates and thoughts with concerned fans around the world. One recent update reads:

Crazy Town’s Shifty Shellshock Regains Consciousness

Remember 90′s band Crazy Town? According to TMZ, their vocalist Shifty Shellshock regained consciousness today after being hospitalized in a coma since last Thursday.

This coma was allegedly drug-induced and Shifty (Seth Binzer) is truly lucky to be alive. He was previously a part of the show “Celebrity Rehab”.

We hope after this huge scare Seth makes some sort of life-changes. Best of luck on the recovery process from UTG.
