Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Announces Its 2015 Inductee Class

This time each year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announces their annual inductee class that sees artists being recognized for their contribution to the wellness of music. Sometimes the class includes artists that seem premature for their induction while others are left in the dark to wait another year to be a part of the halls of the famous museum. This year’s class has a rather exquisite roster coming in to take their respective place.

On behalf of Rolling Stone, the inductees for 2015 are Lou Reed, Green Day, Joan Jett, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bill Withers, and …

Required Listening: Jimmy Hu$tle – “Po$$e”

Cleveland native Jimmy Hu$tle may have an underground hit on his hand with “Po$$e,” the latest single off his recently released Dumb Hu$tle mixtape. It’s a throwback effort that brings to mind the height of early 1990s hip-hop while delivering an uplifting message of hope and support for Hu$tle’s family at large. The video, which premiered on BlurredCulture this morning, finds Jimmy hanging with his closest friends and performing for the camera. It’s nothing all that complex, but the visuals fit the track well and are executed with skill equal to any top 40 clip you’ve seen this year. Check …

Alkaline Trio

Alkaline Trio To Continue ‘Past Live’ Tour in 2015

The band announced today that ‘Past Live’ will be hitting other markets throughout the first half of next year, this time in eight more cities. These cities include Denver, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Boston, Orlando, San Francisco, and Santa Ana. A small quantity of pre-sale tickets go on sale today at noon local time …

Jimmy Hu$tle Shares “The Price Is Going Up”

Ohio native Jimmy Hu$tle may have abandoned the midwest for sunny California, but he’s proving with his latest single that he still has a Cleveland attitude.

“The Price Is Going Up” found its way online earlier today, October 1. The song is the latest in a string of digital singles promoting Hustle’s forthcoming #Dumbhustle mixtape (due out October 31). The video is performance heavy, but it’s shot and edited in a such a way that it never becomes boring. You can view the visuals below.…

Runaway Brother 2014

Runaway Brother Signs To Tiny Engines

It has finally happened. ‘Best Band in Cleveland’ aka Runaway Brother has signed a record deal with Tiny Engines. The band’s full-length will be released on the label later this year.

I’ve had the opportunity to know Runaway Brother for quite some time. I’ve seen them play on stages, in basements, and even in a library. Each time, I’m met with the same feeling, the same question, “Why aren’t they signed?” I’m not alone. Conversation in the crowd of a Runaway Brother normally goes something like, “Holy shit, these guys are good.” “Yea dude, this band is amazing. They’re …

LIVE REVIEW: The Great American Cult Tour – Cleveland, OH 3/5/14 (Photos)

Opening night of the Great American Cult Tour took place in Cleveland, OH last week. As Bayside’s first headlining tour in some time, I was prepared for a fantastic show. I wasn’t disappointed.

I asked local photographer Andy Wells to accompany me and his pictures from the show can be found below.

The lineup: Ohio’s own pop-punk quartet Mixtapes, Post-Grunge standouts Daylight, returning champs Four Year Strong, and then Bayside themselves.…

UTG PHOTOS: Tegan and Sara (2/7/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Kellie Gannon, to photograph Tegan and Sara at the Masonic Auditorium in Cleveland on February 7, 2014.

I have to admit, I’ve had a girl crush on Tegan and Sara ever since I first heard “Walking With A Ghost” a decade ago. This killer track, from 2004′s So Jealous, ended up on countless mix CDs I made that coincided with my new driver’s license and newfound freedom to cruise around and blast whatever tunes I wanted.  That was ten years ago — fast forward to now and I was more than psyched …

Boston Justin Bieber Clothing

Boston-based Clothing Company Prevented From Selling Justin Bieber Nazi Shirt

A Boston clothing company has been trying to manufacture t-shirts that display Justin Bieber with a swastika on his forehead, but now–surprise–it looks like they’re being thwarted. Let’s Rage Clothing had the“all-over” t-shirt for sale on their website, but now customers who try to purchase the garment receive a message explaining that no one will actually print it.

The message is as follows:

Thank you for contacting us! I checked your order and it looks like you purchased our Justin Bieber Swastika t-shirt. Unfortunately, we can’t find a printing facility that will actually make those shirts so they’ve been

Runaway Brother

WATCH: Runaway Brother – “Faking It”

Hey look, a new Runaway Brother song! I love those!

This song is called “Faking It” and it hasn’t been released on any record thus far. This video is the first I’ve seen or heard of it.

You should know by now that Runaway Brother is one of our favorite midwest acts, so the need to explain their exceptional qualities has past. Just watch the video and see for yourself.

Stages & Stereos

UTG INTERVIEW: Stages and Stereos on the GK Tour

On October 30, 2013 in Cleveland Ohio, Editor Jacob Tender attended the GK Tour featuring Mayday Parade, Man Overboard, Cartel, and buzz band Stages & Stereos.

After enjoying Cartel’s set for the 3rd time this year, he pushed his way through a vicious crowd of Tumblr-addicted Mayday Parade fans and meandered backstage to the supporting band’s greenroom to find Stages & Stereos who agreed to have a little chat.

Let’s start with the basics. Your name. It’s a Bayside reference, right?

Daniel Lancaster: Yes. That was one of Ian’s ideas. “Storming Stages & Stereos.” (from “They

UTG TV: Childish Gambino Plays A New Song, “Shadows,” in Cleveland

So my sister says “Jake, I really want to go see Childish Gambino play in Cleveland.”

“I just got off work, Sarah. Give me a minute, would you?”

I shower, do some stuff, and go to a bonfire with some co-workers. I get a text. “Jake, please. I really want to go and mom says I can’t unless you take me. I’ll pay.”

“Deal.”

Childish Gambino played Cleveland State University’s homecoming last night and while I’m told the student body didn’t vote for him, I’m most certainly glad he played. Everyone had a good time. It was a fantastic set.…

UTG PHOTOS: THREE DAYS GRACE (8/11/13)

Under The Gun sent Head Of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to House of Blues Cleveland for Three Days Grace on August 11, 2013.

During the very music-filled and crazy busy month of August, I was able to see several incredible and musically diverse shows. One of the shows I had the chance to catch mid-month was Three Days Grace at House of Blues Cleveland on August 11.  Direct support on this tour came from fellow Vegas natives, Otherwise, as well as Trapt.…
