Rockstar Uproar Festival Lineup Revealed; Dates Posted

The latest installment of the Rockstar Uproar Festival is set to take place in arenas and outdoor venues across the nation starting this August, and earlier today the official lineup was made public.

Joining the 2013 Uproar lineup will be four awesome rock acts, including Circa Survive, Coheed And Cambria, Alice In Chains, and Jane’s Addiction. This is without question the first (and only) time a lineup like this has been put together, and we cannot encourage you enough to do whatever possible to attend one of the tour dates. The full routing is as follows:

mariah carey almost home

STREAM: Mariah Carey – “Almost Home”

No, Mariah Carey is not referencing post-hardcore act Circa Survive’s seminal 2007 effort On Letting Go with the artwork for her latest single “Almost Home”. It’s a tie in to Oz the Great and Powerful, the The Wizard of Oz prequel starring James Franco and the film for which this effort from Carey was commissioned.

But enough joking around. “Almost Home” is a fine return to form for Carey. The Stargate-produced beat provides a slick, melodic foundation for Carey and her stellar vocals. The cut bumps and twinkles without ever getting in the way of Carey’s pipes. The …

Skrillex And Anthony Green Tease Potential Collaborative Screamo Release

This is a little old, but it’s just getting traction now. Besides, a bit more publicity might light a fire under the asses of these two.

Sonny Moore, currently operating under his production/DJ moniker Skrillex, has a long, deep relationship with extreme music. Before dropping the heavy bass, he was screaming heavy verses as the frontman of post-hardcore act From First To Last. But you already knew that.

What you probably didn’t know is that Moore hasn’t completely moved away from the music of his heavy, guitar-driven roots.

Circa Survive

STREAM/DOWNLOAD: Circa Survive – “Jingle Bell Rock” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”

Circa Survive is so sneaky. They’re done recording for a while… oh wait, here’s an EP as a Hurricane Sandy benefit. They’re done touring… oh look, there they go to Australia with Coheed and Cambria. Anthony’s just going to do a quick solo tour… oh snap, here he is playing with the dudes from Saosin. And now it’s Christmas… so Circa Survive has given us the pleasure of posting two recordings of Christmas rock songs, “Jingle Bell Rock” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”.

Personally, I’m against Christmas music, for it is endlessly repetitive. That said, I …

WATCH: Circa Survive Live Acoustic Sessions

The guys over at PureVolume.com recently had the opportunity to catch Circa Survive playing two acoustic tracks backstage at their show in Los Angeles.

The band played “Sharp Practice” and “Suitcase” off their new album, Violent Waves.

According to PureVolume.com, “between quiet harmonies, intricate guitar work, and frontman Anthony Green’s haunting vocal parts, this acoustic rendition takes on an even moodier tone than the original, amping the song’s heavy-hearted vibe and goosebump-inducing ability.”

Check out the videos here, and pick up Circa Survive’s newest album, Violent Waves, here.

UTG INTERVIEW: Jeremy Bolm of Touché Amoré

People naturally gravitate towards music that is different, and that’s exactly what many consider Touché Amoré to be: different. Touché Amoré is a hardcore band from the Los Angeles, CA area that have been making waves since the release of the group’s latest full-length, Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me.

UTG had the opportunity to interview frontman Jeremy Bolm back in late September at The Beacham in downtown Orlando, FL. Throughout the interview we talked about all sorts of things like playing shows with other bands from completely different music scenes, basement shows, and the band’s very ambiguous …
