MOVIE REVIEW: The Dark Knight Rises

Movie: The Dark Knight Rises
Director: Christopher Nolan

I’ve been racking my brains for a week trying to think of some artistic analogy with which to introduce this film. I couldn’t muster one. In actual fact, I’m pleased this review is belated, because it’s given me the chance to take the film in twice and see my opinion do an almost total 180. I thought The Dark Knight Rises was a beautiful, contrarian disaster the first time I watched it – perhaps I was too overhyped or emotional, or a Friday evening viewing after a stressful week at work was …

Hans Zimmer Composes Piece for Aurora Shooting Victims

Just one week ago today, during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises, a madman entered an Aurora, Colorado theater and began firing upon the patrons. 12 were killed.

In the week following, an outpour of support has reached the victims and families affected by the shooting. Dark Knight actor, Christian Bale, visited local hospitals to talk to the shooting victims. Vigils and ceremonies have been conducted in remembrance of those lost. Film industry giants have made statements and offered condolences.  Now, legendary film composer (and composer of The Dark Knight Rises), Hans Zimmer, is doing his part.

Christian Bale proves himself a true hero, visits shooting victims in hospital

Sometime today Christian Bale lived up to his heroic role as Batman when he quietly visited several of the victims of the Aurora shooting in the hospital.

The actor made the trip to Colorado on his own accord, not as a representative of any studio, with his wife Sibi. Bale contacted the hospital and arranged the visit in private, asking that no media outlet was to be informed. The hospital’s interim president, Bill Voloch, told reporters afterward that Bale had spent about two and a half hours visiting with the victims and the staff that was helping them.

WATCH: New Dark Knight Rises TV Spot

With just under two months to go until Christopher Nolan’s behemoth conclusion to the Dark Knight trilogy hits cinema screens, the marketing campaign is stepping up a notch with a new TV spot. This 30-second clip uses mainly the same footage as the theatrical trailer, with a few chilling additions including Sir Michael Caine’s Alfred telling Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), “You’re not Batman anymore.” The breakneck pace, chaotic crowd scenes, and frenetic editing also give a further indication as to the extent of the carnage Tom Hardy’s ruthless Bane will bring to bear on Gotham.

MOVIE TRAILER: The Dark Knight Rises

The prologue to Dark Knight Rises still only lives on IMAX screens, but fans eager for more Batman can now catch a fan-captured look at the second teaser right here on UTG.

Released alongside the regular theatrical edition of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, the latest teaser for 2012′s Dark Knight Rises shows us that Bane is even more of a badass than previously assumed and apparently, he has some crazy weapons up his sleeve as well. You can view the video, which was recorded out of the US via cell phone (so we apologize for the quality), after the …

DON’T DO IT: Someone Is Trying To Remake “American Psycho”

Dammit, Hollywood. Yesterday I gave you a pass even though news of Grown Ups 2 and the trailer The Three Stooges essentially destroyed all joy I have for comedy, then you go ahead and do something even more idiotic today.

Variety is reporting that someone trying to make a name for themselves is attempting to tackle the challenge of re-adapting Bret Easton Ellis’ American Psycho. This fool’s name? Noble Jones (According to IMDB, his ONLY credit is second unit assistant director work on The Social Network).

The article goes on to say that Lionsgate is behind the production, …
