Soundgarden Perform New Song Live

Soundgarden‘s creative output is weird. They wait two to three years on average between albums in their creative peak, then break up and get back together for their first album in sixteen years… and before the tour cycle is even over, they’re already playing newer songs. I don’t think that necessarily means another Soundgarden record is already in the works, but it’s good to see the creative juices are always flowing. The song starts off with just Chris Cornell playing on acoustic guitar.

You can see (and hear) the new song here after the break. It’s a clip from …

REVIEW: Soundgarden – King Animal

Artist: Soundgarden
Album: King Animal
Genre: Rock

A band’s return is a scary thing. Too often reviewers will be quick to point out the length between the band’s working together, and if the album is good, the time away is the reason the band wrote with passion now. If the album sucks, the time apart made the band rusty and is why it sucks. With Soundgarden’s King Animal, it’s neither. This is their first album since Down on the Upside, and it feels like the album you would expect to follow Down on the Upside. Now, …

Famed alternative rock band Soundgarden got back together in 2010, and released one new song on the Avengers soundtrack. They recently announced the title of their upcoming return album, King Animal.

Now, they have released the artwork and posted a trailer hyping the release featuring a previously unheard tune. We here are at UTG are pretty excited – the snippet of a song heard in the trailer seems better than the prior single, “Live to Rise”. The album, which is being released on November 13, can be pre-ordered here.

Chris Cornell Played “A Day In The Life” In Honor Of Paul McCartney Turning 70

Soundgarden/Audioslave’s Chris Cornell played an intimate show last night at London’s Palladium theatre and performed a classic from The Beatles. In honor of Sir Paul McCartney’s 70th birthday, the artist whipped out a fantastic acoustic rendition of The Beatles’ 1967 track “A Day In The Life” and can be seen after the jump!

NME captured a hilarious quote from Cornell onstage before he performed the song.

“It’s Paul McCartney’s birthday today. He’s 70. He was knighted. You know why he was knighted? He paid taxes…which I’m not sure is worth it. People call me sir sometimes, and I didn’t pay

Rumored (leaked) lineup for Coachella 2012

The new year is rolling around and with it comes another year of great music. Next spring is the Coachella Valley Music and Fine Arts Festival, a huge (sweaty) gathering of celebrities, rich folk, and hipsters.  To entertain these individuals, hundreds of musicians will flock to the Coachella Valley to play.

A Goldenvoice insider has revealed a rumored list of artists set to perform at the 2012 Coachella festival. Not every artist has been confirmed, but the list inside gives a pretty good depiction of what the next festival’s lineup will look like.
